Эта новаторская деятельность считается важным стратегическим проектом, направленным на: внедрение новых продуктов и продвижение их на новые рынки; повышение эффективности рыночной системы; поддержание оптимальной конкурентной среды; создание и предоставление дополнительных рабочих мест; повышение потребительского спроса. Однако, в сложившихся условиях, малые предприятия сталкиваются с серьезными проблемами, решить которые можно только объединив усилия органов власти и местного самоуправления. Анализ основных показателей деятельности малого предпринимательства в масштабах всей страны и регионов в частности, поможет понять причины проблем, позволит активизировать деятельность субъектов малого бизнеса и реализовать их предпринимательский потенциал. Today, economic growth in the Russian Federation largely depends on the development of small businesses. This innovative activity is considered an important strategic project aimed at: introducing new products and promoting them to new markets; improving the efficiency of the market system; maintaining an optimal competitive environment; creating and providing additional jobs; and increasing consumer demand. However, in the current conditions, small businesses face serious problems that can only be solved by combining the efforts of government and local government. Analysis of the main indicators of small business activity throughout the country and regions in particular will help to understand the causes of problems, will allow to activate the activities of small businesses and realize their entrepreneurial potential.

The article focuses on the problematic aspects and negative effects of increasing the external migration in Ukraine. The necessity of improving the modern migration policy is substantiated. The directions of the economic instrument of regulation of external migration are offered: slowing down of rates of external migration at the expense of improvement of an employment policy and creation of new workplaces; development of the micro and small business sector using the potential of external labour migrants; increasing the level of readiness of migrants for re-emigration by improving institutional capacity and assisting in the establishment of problematic social, labour and other aspects of migrants abroad; increase in investments in the economy at the expense of external labour migrants; preservation of human potential using the regulation of external educational migration. It is proved that the implementation of state policy measures (creation of conditions for legalization of sectoral labour markets by a high level of informal employment; support of non-standard forms of formal legal employment, development of the intermediary sector in the labour market; initiation of development and implementation of employment programs; preparation of ‘turnkey businesses’, implementation of programs to improve the availability of financial and credit resources for micro and small businesses, the creation of urban venture funds to invest in creative, innovative and technological business projects, start-ups of micro and small business, organizational and resource support for organizations specializing in maintaining ties with the diaspora, grants to NGOs to create and support the operation of Internet platforms, stimulating the creation of special bank deposit programs for migrant workers, resource which is used as a guarantee of financial and credit support for micro and small businesses; introduction of grant programs to support entrepreneurship for certain groups of the population – migrants, internally displaced persons, youth) would minimize risks, control the process of intensification of external migration flows in Ukraine.

Іntroduction. The stable functioning and qualitative development of enterprises of the small business sector largely depend on the state's effective regulatory policy in a modern economy. Necessary are regulatory measures of the state in relation to entrepreneurship development, increase their efficiency, improvement of methods of influence on entrepreneurial activity, which will help to equalize cyclical tendencies in the functioning of small businesses, increase their social role in the social and economic development of regions and the country as a whole. In this regard, it is expedient to study the current state of small business development through the prism of identifying the advantages and disadvantages of regulatory policy in this area. Methods. General scientific and special methods are used: statistical analysis and systematization; empirical synthesis and generalization in the process of research. Results. The article covers the existing manifestations of improvement of certain important economic indicators: increase of sales volumes, growth of the share of small business in GDP and in the total number of economic entities, increase of assets and capital, increase of labor productivity and social parameters. The shortcomings of small business development in Ukraine were identified, among them: a decrease in the number of small business entities, low financial and economic efficiency, weak financial and economic status of small enterprises, high level of profitability of economic activity, small number of employed and self-employed in this sector of the economy, reduction of available workers places, critical imbalances and deformations in the development of the small business sector in the spatial and sectoral aspects. Discussion. Since regulatory policy plays a strategically important role in the functioning of the small business sector, the study of its effectiveness and the identification of deficiencies will allow to form a high-quality business environment favorable for the activation of the entrepreneurial activity of the population, the emergence of new ones, and the improvement of the efficiency of business activities of the small business actors, balanced development of the entrepreneurial sector of the national economy as a whole. The purpose of the article is to describe methodological approaches to the complex concept of reliability of engineering enterprises in a competitive environment. The concept of enterprise reliability is proposed to include the following areas of analysis: sustainability of economic growth, financial stability, industrial mobility and market stability. Each of the areas under consideration has its own aspects of analysis and indicators. The definitions of the proposed directions have been given, the need for their joint use in determining the reliability of the enterprise has been substantiated. The main content of the study is to analyze each component of the reliability of the enterprise, the proposed system of indicators that determine them, as well as the most favorable trends in the last time to improve the status and reliability of the enterprise. According to the results of the conducted research, the conclusion about the necessity of development of methods of reliability evaluation of engineering enterprises through the levels to create the structure of sectoral development opportunities has been made.

The article analyzes the development of small business using the example of that one in Naberezhnye Chelny. A competitive market is influenced by many factors. These are laws, state policy in the field of small business in the construction sector, as exemplified in this article, a competitive environment. The article presents the impact of Federal Law No. 135 “On Protection of Competition” on the competitive environment, including in construction. In our country,a lot is said about supporting small businesses, there are federal and regional programs. There is also an understanding of what kind of small business it is and what it is for. There are many definitions of small business. Each country has certain criteria for evaluating small businesses. The main thing is that the goal of small business is to increase jobs, and not just to employ people, but to increase the country’s human resources. It should be borne in mind that small businesses respond more quickly to local business conditions. The novelty of the research is that an important point of small business is the creation of a market close to perfect competition, and this is the basis of the concept of logistics barter, which will dominate the economy. The new concept of logistic barter involves the denial of monetary relations between manufacturers in the B2B segment. The B2C segment is not interesting for logistic barter. The money will remain in “households” who care about the market with ideally perfect competition. A market of perfect competition and antitrust laws will work in tandem. Banks will be relevant only for end consumers, namely “households”.

Study level/applicability This case can be used in the core course on entrepreneurship for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Business Administration/Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA/PGDM) students. It will help them to understand the motivations and challenges of women entrepreneurs, strategies to manage challenges, interactive style of leadership and their contribution to the economic growth of the country. Subject area Entrepreneurship. Case overview Roopa Rani, co-founded a digital design company, DesignTheme Innoventics (DTI), with her husband Yoganand, in November 2007, on the first floor of their residence. Yoganand’s creativity and Roopa’s determination made them bootstrap, scale slow and steady. As a novice to the industry, the initial days posed many challenges. Roopa hired artists to be appointed as designers, which gave them a unique selling preposition. They progressed slowly from a team of 2 to 20, with a revenue of INR 0.3M per annum to INR 12M per annum. As the company grew, Roopa wanted Yoganand’s support in handling the responsibilities, and hence, converted DTI into a limited liability partnership in 2013 and the couple were directors. As the client base improved, the need for shifting to a bigger space became more evident. A calculative risk-taker, Roopa, was forced to move DTI to a bigger office space end 2017, with a rent of INR60,000 per month. Meanwhile, they became a team of 20, with revenue of INR12m. The shift from no rent to a rented space made DTI slip to break-even. However, after two years, they moved into a smaller space and it coincided with the COVID-19 outbreak. Although the backlog orders were processed during the first quarter of 2020–2021, the business for the next quarter was affected. Social distancing norms created a shift in the way of doing business, which was a boon for a designing company like DTI. Now, the task before this self-made woman entrepreneur was to formulate strategies to scale up the business. Expected learning outcomes After analysing the case, the students will be able to: i. Value the contribution of women entrepreneurs towards the economy. ii. Examine the motivational factors and challenges of women entrepreneurs. iii. Understand the importance of networking. iv. Appraise the socio-cultural factors in a patriarchal society and their impact on the work-life balance of a woman entrepreneur. v. The subject area of the application of information systems to small business is a thoroughly interesting, yet relatively under-researched topic. Small business is an important part of any economy. In the United Kingdom, 25% of the gross domestic product is produced by small business, which employs 65% of the nation’s workers (Ballantine et al., 1998). In Canada, 43% of economic output is accounted for by small business, employing 50% of private sector employees (Industry Canada, 1997). Further, governments view the small business sector as that component of the economy that can best contribute to economic growth (Balderson, 2000). Given the importance of this sector of the economy, it is incumbent upon researchers and managers of small business to develop a better understanding of how information systems may contribute to the operation and growth of individual businesses as well as the overall sector. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of information systems used by small business. Research projects are presented that describe the current situation. Recommendations are then proffered for various stakeholders who should contribute to a more effective use of information systems by small business.

This chapter will discuss the legal framework for consumer and data protection in Europe. Central to this discussion will be the law of the European Union (EU) on data and consumer protection.3 Recent years have seen the creation of legal frameworks in Europe which seek to secure the protection of consumers while simultaneously facilitating economic growth in the European Union. This chapter will outline the main sources of law which protect consumers and their privacy. This chapter will outline the important provisions in these sources of law and critically analyse them. The chapter will also point up the gaps and deficiencies in the consumer and data protection legal structures.
