Maintenance of diastema with a loop connector fixed partial denture: A Case Report

The replacement of a single maxillary central incisor is a unique prosthodontic challenge from esthetic as well as a functional point of view. Loss of anterior teeth with existing natural diastema presents problems such as increased mesiodistal space available for pontic which makes it very difficult to give conventional fixed prosthesis with rigid connector and wider pontics can be very unesthetic to look in the esthetic zone. This clinical situation is a major challenge for a prosthodontist; leaves him in a dilemma whether to close the space or to maintain it in a final fixed prosthesis simulating the natural tooth appearance. If implant-supported prosthesis is not possible fixed partial denture along with loop connector is the best solution to maintain the existing diastema and esthetics. This article presents a case report where fixed partial denture along with loop connector was used to achieve esthetic rehabilitation in maxillary anterior region maintaining natural existing diastema.

ABSTRACTRibbond is a bondable, biocompatible, esthetic, translucent and easy-to-use reinforced ribbon. By virtue of its wide spectrum of intended properties, it enjoys various applications in clinical dentistry. This case report demonstrates usage of Ribbond as a space maintainer, a fixed partial denture with a natural tooth pontic, an endodontic post and cores and a splint material in children. Ribbond can be used as an alternative to conventional treatment in pediatric dentistry. (Eur J Dent 2009;3:329-334)

ABSTRACT The use of overdenture abutments under removable partial dentures to preserve alveolar bone and provide support is well established, but there is little evidence of their use under fixed partial dentures. There exist a variety of clinical situations in which teeth or roots with questionable prognosis cannot be utilized as abutments for fixed partial dentures. In such situations these teeth/roots can be preserved under fixed prosthesis to provide vertical support and delay bone loss. The following report describes technical considerations, advantages and limitations of this treatment modality.

The purpose of this work is to describe a clinical case of full-arch mandible rehabilitation with a fixed prosthesis on three implants. The chosen protocol is the Trefoil system by Nobel (Nobel Biocare, Zurich, Switzerland) that allows to realize a mandibular fixed rehabilitation on three particularly designed fixtures through the use of prefabricated surgical guides and a preassembled bar on which the prosthesis is built. Both surgical and prosthetic procedures were completed without complications, and after 30 months, the rehabilitations are in good health conditions. The patient is able to maintain a good level of hygiene and is satisfied with the work from an aesthetic and functional point of view.

ABSTRACT Crown fractures of the anterior teeth are a common form of dental trauma mainly affecting children and adolescents. One of the options for managing crown fractures is the reattachment of the fractured fragment when the tooth fragment is available with minimal or no violation of the biological width. Reattachment of fractured fragments can provide good esthetics, as it maintains the tooth's original anatomic form, color, and surface texture. It also restores function and is a relatively simple procedure. This case report deals with the esthetic management of a crown-root fracture that was successfully treated with endodontic treatment followed by reattachment of fractured fragment with fiber post. Resin bonded fixed dental prosthesis offers most conservative and cost-effective option with missing teeth in aesthetic zone specially when an implant prosthesis is not indicated. This case report describes a treatment option for the replacement of a missing maxillary central incisor using a double-retainer resin-bonded fixed partial denture (RBFPD), fabricated from zirconium dioxide (ZrO) ceramic. No clinical complications were observed at follow-up examination after placement of the prosthesis. Satisfactory functional and aesthetic results were achieved. A treatment modality using a ZrO ceramic RBFPD is an alternative for single anterior tooth replacement.

Introduction In this case report we present the aesthetical correction of crowded anterior teeth in a patient who has refused the orthodontic treatment. We also discuss how this correction can be resolved from the point of view of dental prosthetic and what measurements can be helpful in order to collect the data used to restore a satisfying smile on the patient’s face using dental ceramic restoration. Case presentation: A 32-year-old patient complained about his crowded incisors. We examined the incisal curvature, the proportion between the height and the width of the teeth, and the relation between the widths of the teeth and the golden proportion. The results of the measurements were compared to the characteristic values of the ideal denture. After the examination of the dental plaster cast, calculating the difference between the existing space and the necessary space, we were able to calculate the lack of space, which caused the crowded teeth. Conclusion: Along the prosthetic planning, these measurements may serve as a guideline to the dentist as an objective basis for the formation of an aesthetic denture and smile.
