The new Internet of Things/Everything (IoT/IoE) paradigm and architecture allows one to rethink the way Smart City infrastructures are designed and managed, but on the other hand, a number of problems have to be solved. In terms of mobility the cities that embrace the sensoring era can take advantage of this disruptive technology to improve the quality of life of their citizens, also thanks to the rationalization in the use of their resources. In Sii-Mobility, a national smart city project on mobility and transportation, a flexible platform has been designed and here, in this paper, is presented. It permits one to set up heterogeneous and complex scenarios that integrate sensors/actuators as IoT/IoE in an overall Big Data, Machine Learning and Data Analytics scenario. A detailed and complex case-study has been presented to validate the solution in the context of a system that dynamically reverse the traveling direction of a road segment, with all the safety conditions in place. This case study composes several building blocks of the IoT platform, which demonstrate that a flexible and dynamic set-up is possible, supporting security, safety, local, cloud and mixed solutions.

This manuscript deals with the issue of the Smart City concept in the capitals of selected European countries, which are the Slovak Republic, the Czech Republic, and Austria. This scientific manuscript defines technical terms such as Smart city and also the whole concept of the Smart City. An overview of Smart City services is also presented. The analysis of the current state of the article is focused on the Index Cities in Motion 2018 which evaluates the current development concept of a Smart City in selected major cities such as Vienna, Prague, and Bratislava. Based on the analysis, we wanted to verify whether the Slovak Republic is ranked in the first half of the surveyed countries within the Index Cities in Motion. This hypothesis has been confirmed.Within these selected capital cities, we focused on mobile applications, which are provided under the three chosen areas of the concept of a Smart City such as transportation services, environmental services, and real-time localization services. Subsequently, we found that most applications in the countries under review are implemented in the transport sector. Subsequently, we focused on the number of downloads and the cost of each app. We've also researched apps through Google Play.Based on a detailed analysis, we defined the advantages and disadvantages of the three most frequently used areas of the Smart City concept.

Most cities have adopted smart city services to solve urban problems. However, an examination of their operations reveals that many of these services have either been discontinued or have failed to advance further since they were not profitable. Therefore, this study reviews and proposes the business models of smart city services at a fundamental level. It defines and classifies the smart city service focusing on transportation and the components. The business model has been constructed for electric vehicles and autonomous shuttle businesses in terms of transportation services. It found that the model was profitable in each business only when various stakeholders were linked for mutual interests. Since various service stakeholders cooperate in smart city service, if one of them is unable to secure profitability, it is difficult to operate the smart city service fully. Therefore, a detailed review of the business model is required before providing a smart city service.

AbstractThe Service of Bus Rapid Transit of Purwokerto-Purbalingga for Female Users towards Readiness of Smart Mobility Dimension: Operating Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) of Purwokerto-Purbalingga aims to improve services for its users. In fact, 70% of BRT users are women, so it requires the involvement of female users to support the sustainability of urban development, especially in public transportation services. On the other hand, Purwokerto and Purbalingga are areas that have been smart city-oriented. In the Garuda Smart City Model, which is a smart city initiative model, there is a smart economy where the service cluster is smart mobility and its main part is public transportation service. This research is conducted to determine the socio-economic correlation of demographics and experience of female users of BRT with their preferences toward the services. In addition, the readiness of the two regions in the application of the smart city, especially smart mobility, also needs to be measured. The methods used were quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative methods include descriptive and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test, while qualitative methods were used to analyze indicators of smart mobility readiness. The results obtained show that preferences for economic, social, and environmental criteria have a significant response to socioeconomic. Based on smart mobility readiness indicators, BRT operations are only ready on the indicator of BRT accessibility. Other indicators such as multimodal transportation access, international transportation access, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support mobility, and sustainable transportation are not ready yet. Therefore, comprehensive studies and policies that support smart mobility are needed so that BRT can become a reliable, safe, and professional transportation. Keywords:  Service, Women’s Preference, Bus Rapid Transit, Smart Mobility.

Carpooling schemes for mutual cost benefits between the driver and the passengers has a long history. However, the convenience of driving alone, the increasing level of car ownership, and the difficulties in finding travelers with matching timing and routes keep car occupancy low. Technology is a key enabler of online platforms which facilitate the ride matching process and lead to an increase in carpooling services. Smart carpooling services may be an alternative and enrichment for mobility, which can help smart cities (SCs) reduce traffic congestion and gas emissions but require the appropriate architecture to support connection with the city infrastructure such as high-occupancy vehicle lanes, parking space, tolls, and the public transportation services. To better understand the evolution of carpooling platforms in SCs, bibliometric analysis of three separate specialized literature collections, combined with a systematic literature review, is performed. It is identified that smart carpooling platforms could generate additional value for participants and SCs. To deliver this value to an SC, a multi-sided platform business model is proposed, suitable for a carpooling service provider with multiple customer segments and partners. Finally, after examining the SC structure, a carpooling platform architecture is presented, which interconnects with the applicable smart city layers.
