The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of perceived freedom of university students in their leisure time with respect to various parameters. The sample group of the study has been selected with purposive sampling method among Dumlupinar University PE and Sports College students with an average age of 22.49±2.76, of whom 192 are male and 98 are female, with a total of 290 students. In the study, “Freedom Perceived in Leisure Time Scale” which has been developed by Witt and Ellis (1985) and adapted to Turkish by Lapa and Tercan (2017), has been used. To determine the personal information of participants percentage and frequency methods, and to determine whether the data has normal distribution or not Shapiro Wilks normality test has been conducted and once it has been concluded, that the data was suitable for parametric test conditions, independent T Test and ANOVA Test has been used to analyse the data. Analysis shows, that with respect to gender, age, department, grade, and weekly leisure time sufficiency parameters there is no significant difference in perceived level of freedom, but with respect to welfare level and sports branch parameters there is a statistically meaningful difference. Consequently, it has been concluded, that in the perceived level of freedom of participants there are differences with respect to various parameters.

The importance of the benefits that individuals get from the activities they participate in their leisure is increasing day by day. It is known that the benefits gained are reflected positively in many aspects of the individual’s life. From this point of view, this study aimed to examine the effect of the benefits obtained by university students in their leisure on the prediction of entrepreneurship and academic hopelessness. The study group of the research consisted of a total of 457 students, 247 males and 210 females, selected by easy sampling method, and studying at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Sports Sciences. In addition to the personal information form, Leisure Benefit Scale (LBS) developed by Ho (2008) and adapted into Turkish by Akgül et al. (2018); Entrepreneurship Scale (ES) developed by Yılmaz and Sünbül (2009) and Academic Hopelessness Scale (AHS) developed by Gökalp and Soykan (2020) were used as data collection tools. The normality distribution of the data was decided according to the skewness and kurtosis values. After the data showed normal distribution, t-test, Pearson Correlation test, Multiple Regression analysis were performed in the analysis. As a result, while there were differences between university students’ leisure benefits and academic hopelessness according to their gender, a significant relationship was found between leisure benefits and entrepreneurship and academic hopelessness. In this context, it was concluded that social benefit from leisure benefits was a significant predictor of entrepreneurship and academic hopelessness.

The purpose of this research is to examine the leisure constraints and level of perceived freedom of university students according to different variables. 250 university students in total, 174 (69%) of whom are males and 78 (31%) of whom are females selected by random sampling have voluntarily attended the research study. A survey model has been used in the study. The sample of the study consists of students studying at Istanbul University's Faculty of Sports Sciences. In order to identify the leisure obstacles of the participants, the Obstacles of Leisure Scale, which was developed by Alexandris and Carroll (1997) and adopted into Turkish by Karaküçük and Gürbüz (2007); and in order to identify the level of perceived freedom of the participants, the Perceived Freedom in Leisure Scale, which was developed by Witt and Ellis (1985) and adopted into Turkish by Yerlisu Lapa and Ağyar (2011), were used along with a personal information form prepared by the researcher as a data collection tool in the research. Percent (%) and frequency methods have been utilized to identify the distribution of the personal information of the participants and the Shapiro-Wilks normality test has been applied to identify whether data had normal distribution. Mann-Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis tests have been applied to determine the significant differences after it was determined that the data were suitable to non-parametric test conditions. According to the gender variable, no significant difference (except Individual Psychology) has been identified in the sub-dimensions of the obstacles of the leisure scale and perceived freedom in leisure scale (p>0.05). While there is a significant difference in all sub-dimensions of the perceived freedom in leisure scale (p<0.05), no significant difference has been found in the sub-dimensions of the obstacles of the leisure time scale (p>0.05) according to age. In conclusion, it has been determined that while there are no differences between the leisure obstacles according to the gender of the participants, the level of perceived freedom increases as the age increases.
