In presence of many kilometers of waterways and valleys in Khartoum State, bridges had become desperately needed for proper communication and development. There were many types of bridges in Sudan made of concrete and/or steel using various types of suspended, steel truss, arch and cable-stayed bridges which were constructed by different methods. The successes in bridge projects will be reached if the project achieved quality, cost saving and completed in optimum time schedule. Therefore, selecting appropriate bridge construction method is essential for the success of bridge construction projects. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method has been widely used for solving multi-criteria decision-making problems. The Authors applied Fuzzy AHP, similar to the process suggested by Nang in 2008, to select the most appropriate construction method to be adopted for the Cable-stayed Tuti-Bahri Bridge Project which the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transportation of Khartoum State intends to construct at Khartoum city-center. The results were successfully applied for selection of the most appropriate bridge superstructure construction method among two methods. The hierarchy of the alternatives is suggested based on opinion of two Sudanese experts through questionnaires to obtain the basic criteria. Weights, from group of evaluations, are analyzed using excel spread sheets developed by the Authors. Applying Nang’s approach revealed logical procedure for selection of construction method that best suits Tuti-Bahri Bridge.

This study aims at identifying the suitable lands for urban development in Bandar Abbas city based on its real world use regarding specific criteria and sub-criteria. The city of Bandar Abbas is considered as the most important commercial and economic city of Iran. It is also considered as one of the major cities of Iran which has played a pivotal role in the country's development and progress in recent years especially after the end of Iran-Iraq war owing to its embracing the country's main commercial ports. This process has caused the immigration rate into the city to rise significantly over the past 20 years. Thus, the development of the city is meanwhile considered as a high priority. Bandar Abbas city does not have a rich capacity for growth and development due to its special geographical situation being located in coastal border. Among the limitations placed in the city's development way, natural limitations (heights and sea shore) in the northern and southern parts of the city and structural limitations (military centers) in the east and west sides of the city may be referred. Therefore, identifying the suitable lands for urban development within Bandar Abbas city limits is becoming an essential priority. Therefore, different quantitative and qualitative criteria have been studied in order to select and identify these lands. The structures of qualitative criteria for most parts involve ambiguities and vagueness. This leads us to use Fuzzy logic in this study as a natural method for determining the solutions for problems of Multi-criteria decision making (MCDM). In the current research, a combination of MCDM methods has been presented for analysis. To assignee weights of the criteria Fuzzy AHP (analytic hierarchy process) is used for land selection and Fuzzy TOPSIS (method for order priority by similarity to ideal solution) is utilized to choose the alternative that is the most appropriate through these criteria weights. The sensitivity analysis of the results is included in the research.

Based on a comprehensive analysis of the influencing factors and special features of cement concrete pavement overlaying technology, a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) model is constructed for the comparison and selection of overlaying schemes. At first, the numerical weight for each criterion of the hierarchy is derived and tested. Then the feature matrices of all the schemes are constructed based on experts’ evaluation. The optimal scheme is chosen according to the numerical priorities of each scheme yielded by fuzzy calculation.

In this paper, the application of the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) combined with a set of criteria analysis for the selection of appropriate sites for the development offshore wind energy in Taiwan is presented. The Fuzzy AHP was first conducted to rank the importance and identify the key factors of offshore wind energy successfully. From the numerical results, eight key factors that must be considered in the site selection of offshore wind energy system in Taiwan were obtained by using Fuzzy AHP model. They are: wind power, earthquakes, land use, shore type, typhoon, distance to shoreline, flight safety and water depth. Based on these factors, a set of criteria for the selection of sites for offshore wind farms was also established using five different sites in Taiwan. From the assessment results, it was found that Changhua coastal region is an appropriate site for offshore wind energy in Taiwan.

In this study, a fuzzy AHP-VIKOR method is presented to help decision makers (DMs), especially physicians, evaluate and rank intervention strategies for influenza. Selecting the best intervention strategy is a sophisticated multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem with potentially competing criteria. Two fuzzy MCDM methods, fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (F-AHP) and fuzzy VIsekriterijumska optimizacija i KOmpromisno Resenje (F-VIKOR), are integrated to evaluate and rank influenza intervention strategies. In fuzzy AHP-VIKOR, F-AHP is used to determine the fuzzy criteria weights and F-VIKOR is implemented to rank the strategies with respect to the presented criteria. A case study is given where a professor of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology, an internal medicine physician, an ENT physician, a family physician, and a cardiologist in Turkey act as DMs in the process.

A Bridge is a structure that spans horizontally the road, body of water or a valley. Bridge Construction may vary depending on the intended functioning of the bridge and nature of the that geographical region. Keeping in view the bridge site and various constraints, type of bridge and method of construction are to be selected carefully for successful completion of bridge construction. However, It has been realized that critical barriers in bridge construction need to be identified and evaluated. The intended purpose of the presented research work is to check the critical barriers in bridge construction. Six critical barriers in bridge construction have been shortlisted by carrying out extensive review of literature and categorized in to three categories: 'Climate factors', 'Engineering factors', 'Public problem factors' using experts’ inputs. Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (F-AHP) method is chosen to rank of critical barriers in bridge construction. All pair wise comparison matrices are fabricated on the basis of a survey with inputs from thirty civil engineers. The outcomes may be instrumental for the planning creators for designing influential strategies to deal with critical barriers in bridge construction.

Eternal racket company located in the Klayatan is a company engaged in manufacturing, where output is produced in the form of sports equipment. Given these problems, the Company is required Eternal racket must evaluate suppliers and choose which supplier should be selected with a view limits the capacity and various characteristics of suppliers. For that decision-making in the selection of suppliers is very important. Based on this problem researchers try to provide alternative solutions to the problem of decision-making by integrating the F-AHP is the combination of AHP technique to approach the concept of fuzzy logic. Although AHP is used in dealing with qualitative and quantitative criteria in MCDM but fuzzy AHP is considered better in describing vague decision of the AHP. and the supplier is a supplier selected priority A (P_A) with highest weight is 0.389.

A buying decision process is one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problems faced by everyone in daily life. One example is the selection of smartphones brand in the market. Thus, the study is conducted to evaluate the most effective criteria for buying smartphones and to rank the people's preferences on smartphone based on its brand. Six criteria (price, operating system, memory, display, camera and battery) and three alternatives which are the smartphone brands (Oppo, Samsung and Apple) were chosen in the study. Two main processes were involved, which are 1) evaluate the smartphone criteria using Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and 2) ranking the brand using Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE). Surveys and questionnaires were conducted and evaluated by decision makers who are the smartphone's users. The result showed storage memory is considered as prominent criteria in choosing a smartphone meanwhile the consumers firstly prefer Oppo, secondly Apple and thirdly Samsung. Future work in this study may use other alternatives to be ranked by considering other top models as well. Keywords: Multiple criteria decision making, smartphone brand, Fuzzy AHP, Fuzzy PROMETHEE
