Objective: frequency of dyslipidemia in obese subjects Methodology: In this was a cross sectional study, we included a total of 100 cases, between 30 and 70 years of age of either gender having body mass index >30 whereas we excluded all those cases who were already taking treatment of dyslipidemia. A fasting blood sample was followed for lipid profile from the hospital lab and results were followed for presence/absence of dyslipidemia. Results: In this trial, mean age was 44.57+8.52 years. Mean lipid profile was recorded as 210.17+36.73 total cholesterol, 178.83+12.10 triglycerides, 133.55+9.74 LDL and 34.42+6.58 HDL. Mean Body mass index was calculated as 34.11+7.25. Frequency of dyslipidemia in obese subjects was recorded as 51%(n=51) Conclusion: We concluded that frequency of dyslipidemia is higher in obese subjects coming to a tertiary care hospital Lahore. So, it is recommended that every patient who present with obesity, should be sort out for dyslipidemia. Background: Dental caries area public health problem. Its prevalence is about 60%  in the Pakistani population. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to correlate the association between decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) score and its body mass index in patients visiting the Dental Department of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2021 to May 2021 at the Department of Operative Dentistry Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences. Patients with age 16 to 70 years with presence of atleast 15 to 18 permanent teeth were included in te study. Patients having primary teeth were set in exclusion criteria. For Dental caries status, decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) index was used. Height and weight were measured using digital scales. BMI was calculated according to the formula weight in kilograms/height in centimeters. Data were analyzed for descriptive statistics. One Way ANOVA test was used for association. The statistical significance level was evaluated at p<0.05 Results: We were able to obtain the data of a total of 203 patients of which 57% were female.The mean age was 36.7±13.8. ). The mean DMTF score was 5.7±3.7. In association of BMI with DMTF score, females BMI was statistically significant with DMTF score with p=0.039 and in overall was also significant p =0.002 Conclusion: DMFT score was higher in overweight and obese individuals and it was significant statistically. However, large community based studies are required to confirm the association.

Background: Sedentary daily life have an impact on the prevalence and incidence of metabolic syndrome disorder and results in development of type 2 diabetes mellitus, Dyslipidemia and metabolic disorders that aggravate the risk in the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Methods: In our study Data of 92 males and 112 females, from the age group of 25 to 55 years were selected from December 2018 to July 2019 in a cross sectional manner. Blood sample (3 ml) was collected from each subject. Serum was separated by centrifuging blood at 3000 rpm for 10 min and analyzed for lipid profile by Siemens Dimension RXL max, wet chemistry analyzer. Body mass index (BMI) was calculated as weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. Results: In our hospital based study we estimated the lipid profile in individuals categorized into two groups. (Group 1 BMI <25) and (Group 2 BMI ≥25), we found the values of  Triglycerides, LDL and VLDL in Group 1 are lower as compared to Group 2 values for same analytes. Conclusion: Our study found positive correlation between lipid profile and obesity. Results of this cross sectional study again prove that, Obesity predisposes individuals to metabolic syndrome associated ailments. Epidemiological study is a simple, reliable method for quantifying body size and proportions. This study was aimed to evaluate the association of selected & established demographic parameters of patients with Hyperlipidemia in a rural hospital set up. This study was a hospital-based cross sectional study conducted in patients with newly diagnosed Hyperlipidemia in an age group of 30 to 70 years attending Cardiology Department of a tertiary care hospital in south India. Based on the lipid profile, the subjects were grouped into Normal and Test groups and demographic data and serum lipid profile were recorded in previously designed Data Collection form and statistically analyzed. The result from this study shows that the body weight, height, Body Mass Index and waist circumference of the test population were significantly higher than that of the control population. Also Fasting Blood sugar level, Systolic BP and Diastolic BP were found to be significantly higher in Test group when it compares with the control group. Based on the result from this study, we shall conclude that Body Mass Index, Waist Circumference, Fasting Blood Sugar, and Blood Pressure are very sensitive indices for predicting the elevated biomarkers of Hyperlipidemia.
