SunTAN (Sun Training Access Network) is a Web-based, database-driven integrated learning management system developed by Sun Microsystems for its global field staff. The system offers users a powerful virtual classroom learning environment over the corporate Intranet. It provides a rich set of functions to deliver, manage, track, assess, and report all learning activities for the user. The functional components of SunTAN utilize advanced Web application development technologies and include user management, a course catalogue, user progress tracking, a skill-based learning path, training history, competency assessment and online testing.

The article offers a scenario approach to the design of learning management system (LMS) structure. It is argued that the LMS structure and it functional components depend on the scenarios of its use in educational process which, in turn, are determined by the type of subject that is based on the main component of education content. There are three categories of the LMS users in the educational process in university: students, teachers, and administrators, and their roles differ from each other. The article provides detailed scenarios of how the LMS is used by various categories of users and describes the structure of the LMS in relation to these scenarios. On the one hand, the LMS represents a structured base of content: that is, it contains theoretical materials as well as tasks and exercises along with certain scales that reflect their difficulty. The weight of these tasks, initially determined by experts, can then be automatically corrected using the methods of mathematical statistics. On the other hand, implementing the described scenarios requires an electronic operating cover of the LMS, among the functions of which is the organization of control and self-checking, as well as providing storage and processing statistics of the LMS use. These statistics should then be automatically turned into the current rating of users which is important for knowledge evaluation and support of learning motivation in students during a semester.

[Id] Ujian merupakan salah satu tahapan yang biasa digunakan untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan seseorang dalam melakukan serangkaian kegiatan. Dalam serangkaian kegiatan pembelajaran di Sekolah Tinggi Tarakanita juga perlu suatu tahapan dalam mengukur kemampuan seorang mahasiswa. Tahapan ujian tersebut dilakukan dua kali dalam satu semester, yaitu ujian tengah semester dan ujian akhir semester. Dengan jumlah sekitar 900 mahasiswa, setiap ujian berlangsung maka Sekolah Tinggi Tarakanita harus menyiapkan sekitar 64.800 sampai 108.000 lembar kertas atau sekitar 130 sampai 216 rim kertas ukuran F4 (folio) yang hanya digunakan saat ujian berlangsung. Setelah kegiatan ujian selesai maka lembaran soal ujian tidak digunakan dan akan ditumpuk dalam gudang. Selain mendukung program pemerintah dalam kampanye o Green/em> ternyata soal ujian berbasis Computer Based Test (CBT) juga mampu menghemat biaya sampai 80% untuk setiap kali kegiatan ujian berlangsung. Melalui integrasi Learning Management System (LMS) yang dibangun di Sekolah Tinggi Tarakanita maka soal ujian berbasis Computer Based Test (CBT) ini dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen maka dirancang sebuah aplikasi soal ujian berbasis Computer Based Test (CBT). Sedangkan metode pengembangan aplikasi yang digunakan adalah waterfall model dengan black box testing sebagai metode yang dipilih untuk pengujian aplikasi. Adapun hasil ujicoba aplikasi menunjukkan bahwa soal ujian berbasis Computer Based Test (CBT) dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik melalui dukungan sarana dan prasarana yang sudah tersedia. Bahkan hasil ujian pun dapat langsung diketahui beserta lokasi benar dan salah ada di nomor mana saja. The field mastery of technology, especially in the field of Information and Communication Technology, is one of the obligations for teachers to improve their competence. But at this time the teachers are still applying the conventional teaching model, for example when the teacher stands in front of the class then explains about the subject. This is good for students who pay attention what the material explained by teacher, but if there is the student who can not attend that class they will be missed the lesson. One of some ways to overcome this problem needs for an additional mechanism as an additional learning media as teacher assistants, especially for vocational teachers in SMK Masmur Pekanbaru. The additional learning media is a Learning Management System (LMS) based learning. LMS is a form of web-based computer software, by uploading it to the internet, the e-learning system will be accessible anywhere and anytime. This training is based on LMS where the teachers will use the Edmodo application. By using Edmodo, the teachers have more rights to regulate who can join the group that is created, can control the activities of their students, and can directly assess the tasks. It is expected that LMS-based learning with Edmodo application to be able to improve teachers professionalism and make the learning process in the classroom more efficient than before

A Learning Management System (LMS) is a system which acts as an integrated platform for the management of the learning process used to facilitate the process of communication between students and instructors. Although LMS is considered an important element in learning, most students do not utilise the system to its fullest extent, finding it more convenient if the activities carried out on the system are done outside the system. These factors have contributed to the issues as to why LMSs are not being used effectively and efficiently. With the accelerating pace of information technology, educational institutions should attempt to revolutionise their teaching techniques. Furthermore, combining gaming concepts can potentially increase the LMS’s usability level helping to foster healthy competition among students and increase their interest in their daily learning. With regard to this objective, a prototype was developed as a proof of concept. The prototype is a web-based software and can be accessed via the Internet at all times. The teacher monitors the students’ performance through the analysis of test results or tutorials conducted by the system. In conclusion, this study will present the modules that have been built into the system that could improve the overall process of education.
