In order to study interaction between mycorrhiza and bradyrhizobium on yield of soybean under different amounts of starter nitrogen fertilizer, a field experiment was conducted at the agricultural research station, Bu-Ali Sina University in 2015 growing season. A factorial experiment based on randomized complete block design was arranged with three replications. Experiment factors covering three levels of starter nitrogen of 0, 30 and 60 kg ha-1, bradyrhizobiumin two level of inoculated and non-inoculated and mycorrhiza including application and non-application levels. Results indicated that plant height, number of leaves per plant, yield and yield components and biological yield and mycorrhizal symbiosis percent affected by interaction of studied factors significantly. Maximum number of pod per plant achieved from combination of 30 kg Nitrogen and bradyrhizobium. Also both bio-fertilizer was able to increase number of pod per plant. Maximum 1000 seed weight obtained from inoculation of plants with bradyrhizobium and mycorrhiza simultaneously with no nitrogen utilization. Application of 60 kg ha-1 nitrogen caused to decreased mycorrhizal symbiosis about 20.22 percent in comparison with no use of starter fertilizer. Application bradyrhizobium and mycorrhiza under the application of 30 kg ha-1 nitrogen, produced the highest grain yield (511.67 g m-2) and biological yield (1223.16 g m-2).

An experiment was conducted to evaluate effect of urea fertilizer on yield and yield components of Zea mays L. Using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) split plots in three replications in agricultural research farm of Balkh University by 2019. Doses of urea used in this experiment were 0, 80, 160 and 240 kg ha-1 , respectively. It has been found that amount of nitrogen fertilizer (urea) had significant effect on yield of maize at p<0.05. The higher level of nitrogen caused the higher grain yield, number of kernels per ear, the number of grains per ear row, ear diameter, cob length, grain per plant and plant height. As a result 7.76 ton ha-1 was recorded as high yield while 240 kg ha-1 urea was used, and 5.12 ton ha-1 was recorded as low yield in treatment one with 0 kg ha-1 of nitrogen fertilizer. Finally, as a result using 240 kg ha-1 nitrogen fertilizer is recommended.

The experiment was conducted to evaluate the adaptability of newly released papaya varieties at Chano Mille research site of Arba Minch Agricultural Research Center during 2019-2020 cropping seasons. The three hermaphrodite papaya varieties namely; Braz-HS1, Koka-HM1 and Meki-HL1 were used for the study and laid-out in a Randomized Complete Block Design in three replications. Data on yield and yield components were collected and analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) through Statistical Analytics System software. The ANOVA results revealed that there were significant variations among papaya varieties for the studied parameters. Significantly, the highest number of fruits plant-1, number of leaves and fruit yield were obtained from Braz-HS1 papaya variety. The fruit yield of Braz-HS1 variety was 46% higher than that of Koka-HM1. In general, Braz-HS1 papaya variety performed (in terms of number of fruits and fruit yield) better than the rest two varieties. Thus, Braz-HS1 papaya variety could be recommended for the papaya growers in the study area and vicinity with similar agro-ecology. Int. J. Agril. Res. Innov. Tech. 11(2): 72-75, Dec 2021

Abstract The experiment was carried out according to the randomized complete block design (R.C.B.D) and the arrangement of split-split plot with three replications, at the Field Crops Research Station of the Agricultural Research Department - Abu Ghraib during the spring season for the years 2019 and 2020. With the aim of studying the effect of amino acids, planting dates and their effect on some of the yield characteristics and its components for three varieties of maize in the spring season. Planting dates (March 15, March 25 and April 5) occupied the main plots, while amino acids and the control treatment (proline, arginine, and distilled water) occupied the sub-plot, whereas the varieties (Rabi, Baghdad 3 and Fajr 1) occupied the sub-sub-plot, and the most important results were summarized as follows:The two cultivars, Rabi and Fajr-1, achieved a significant increase in most of the yield characteristics and its components for the seasons. The addition of the amino acid proline also led to a significant increase in most of the studied traits (the number of grains in ear, weight of 500 grains, total grain and biological yield, and harvest index), planting dates also have a significant effect on most of the studied traits. The first date (15/3) recorded increase in the number of grains per ear, the weight of 500 grams, and the grain and biological yield. The plants of the Rabi variety when cultivated on March 15 th and sprayed with the amino acid proline achieved the highest average for the grain yield, which reached 7.48 ton. ha-1 for spring 2019.

<p><span>A field experiment was conducted to evaluate yield and some qualitative characteristics of four cultivars of sweet basil treated with different levels of nitrogen fertilizer. The experiments were located on the Agricultural Research Station of Khorramabad, Iran, during the 2016-2017 growing season. Treatments were arranged in factorial split-plot-in time in randomized complete block design with three replications. Experimental treatments were four cultivars of sweet basil (<em>Ocimum basilicum</em> ‘Italian Large Leaf’, <em>O. basilicum</em> ‘Mobarakeh’, <em>O. basilicum</em> ‘Cinnamon’ and <em>O. basilicum </em>‘Thai’), three levels of nitrogen fertilizer (0, 100 and 200 kg ha<sup>-1</sup> urea) and three harvests. The highest total dry mass (3482.4 kg ha<sup>-1</sup>) was related to ‘Italian Large Leaf’ with the application of 200 kg ha<sup>-1</sup> urea at the second harvest. The maximum (26.79 kg ha<sup>-1</sup>) essential oil yield belonged to 100 kg ha<sup>-1 </sup>urea. The highest concentrations of main constituents of essential oil, except methyl chavicol, 1,8-cineole and methyl cinnamate were obtained by control (without nitrogen fertilizer). Italian Large Leaf cultivar and application of 100 kg ha<sup>-1</sup> urea are recommended to access an acceptable agricultural yield and essential oil yield in sweet basil under the environmental condition similar to Khorramabad</span></p>

An experiment was conducted to assess the yield and yield components of QPM genotypes to plant population under irrigated conditions in a semi arid ecology of Northern Nigeria. Field trials were conducted at the Irrigation Research Station, Institute for Agricultural Research, Kadawa (11° 39'N, 08° 20'E) and 500 m above sea level) during dry seasons 2007, 2008 and 2009 to study the effect of (Zea mays L.) genotypes (TZE-W Pop X 1368, EV-DT W99 STR and DMR-ESRW), four plant population (33333, 44444, 55555 and 66666 plants ha-1) and three irrigation scheduling (40, 60 and 80 centibars soil moisture tension) on the growth and yield of quality protein maize. A split plot design was used with combinations of genotypes and irrigation regimes assigned to the main plot and plant population assigned to the sub-plot. The treatments were replicated three times. The study revealed that genotype EV-DT W99 STR had significantly higher weight of ears per plant, cob length, cob diameter, number of rows per cob, 100 grain weight, grain yield, shelling percentage and harvest index than the other two genotypes used in the trial. Irrigating at 40 and 60 centibars significantly increased weight of ears per plant, while delayed irrigation significantly depressed total dry matter production. Based on the results obtained in this study, it can be concluded that the use of genotype EV-DT W99 STR, at 60 centibars irrigation scheduling and population of 55,555 plants ha-1 had resulted in good agro-physiological characters of QPM at Kadawa.

The study was carried out during 2007-2008 season in the research field of Wheat Research Centre, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Dinajpur to know the effect of lime, Magnesium (Mg) and Boron (B) on yield and yield components of wheat and also their residual effect on mungbean. The geographical position of the area is between 25°62´ N, 88°63´ E and 38.20 meter above sea level. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications, both in wheat and mungbean. Treatments for wheat were (I) recommended fertilizer + Mg + B, (II) recommended fertilizer + lime + B + Mg, (III) recommended fertilizer + lime + Mg, (IV) recommended fertilizer + lime + B and (V) control (Only recommended fertilizer) and for mungbean were (I) recommended fertilizer + Mg + B, (II) 75% of recommended dose, (III) recommended fertilizer + B, (IV) recommended fertilizer + Mg and (V) control (without fertilizers). Results showed that the highest yield and yield components of wheat were recorded from recommended fertilizers + lime + B + Mg treated plot and the second highest were recorded from recommended fertilizers + lime + Mg treated plot. The lowest was recorded in control plot (only recommended fertilized). In case of mungbean the highest was found from recommended fertilizers + B treated plot, this treatment was limed in previously cultivated wheat crop and the lowest was recorded from control plot (without fertilizer). The productivity of eggplant in Nepal is very low due to lack of high yielding, disease and pests resistant varieties. Eight eggplant genotypes [Parwanipur Selection -1 (PS-1), Pusa Purple Long (PPL), Pokhara Lurki, Lalgulab, Pusa Kranti, Arka Keshav, HRDBRI-012 and HRDBRI-013] were evaluated at on-station research field of Regional Agricultural Research Station, Parwanipur, Bara, and PS -1, PPL, Pokhara Lurki, Lalgulab, Pusa Kranti, and Arka Keshav were evaluated at farmers’ field, Bara and Parsa  districts from 2018 to 2019. Results of the on-station experiment showed that genotype PS-1 was the earliest maturing genotype and was harvested at 56 days after transplanting. The number of fruits per plot (9 m2 area) was 189 in Arka Keshav followed by HRDBRI012 (180) and PS-1 (179). The number of marketable fruits per plot (9 m2)  was highest in Lalgulab (166) followed by PS-1 (152). The biggest fruit size was recorded in PS-1 (130 g) followed by Pusa Kranti (121 g) and PPL (108 g). The fruit yield was recorded the highest in PS-1 (25.8 mt/ha). The genotype PS-1 was found more resistant to Fusarium wilt and shoot and fruit borer  followed by PPL. In farmers field, the highest marketable fruits per plot were produced from PPL followed by Pusa Kranti and PS-1. Similarly, the highest yield and marketable yield were also recorded in PS-1 followed by Pusa Kranti. The genotypes PS-1 and PPL were superior in terms of yield and resistance to disease and pests. Therefore, they could be a promising genotypes for central Terai region of Nepal.

The effect of nitrogen (0, 80, 120, and 160 kg/ha from urea) and sulphur (0, 20, 40, and 60 kg/ha from gypsum) fertilization on N and S uptake and yield performance of onion (var. BARI Piaz-1) was studied in the research field of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Joydebpur, Gazipur during rabi seasons of 2002-2003 and 2003-2004. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design under factorial arrangement with three replications. Addition of nitrogen and sulphur fertilizers exerted significant influence on the number of leaves/plant, plant height, diameter of bulb, single bulb weight, and yield of onion. The uptake of N and S by bulb also significantly responded to the application of nitrogen and sulphur. The highest yield of onion and the maximum uptake of N and S were recorded by the combined application of 120 kg N and 40 kg S/ha with a blanket dose of 90 kg P2O5, 90 kg K2O, and 5 kg Zn/ha plus 5 tons of cowdung/ha. The antagonistic effect of nitrogen and sulphur on the uptake of N and S by bulb, yield components, and yield of onion was observed only when they were applied together at higher rates of nitrogen (160 kg/ha) and sulphur (40kg/ha). Abstract To evaluate the interaction effects of planting date and different levels of nitrogen fertilizer on sorghum (Sorghum bicolor var. Speed feed) forage production, an experiment was conducted in split plots based on a complete randomized block design in Agricultural Research Station of Khorramabad, Lorestan province, Iran. The experimental treatments comprised of three nitrogen fertilizer levels of control (N0), 100 (N1), and 150 kg per hectare (N2), assigned to main plots and three sowing dates of T1 (June, 10th), T2 (June 26th) and T3 (July 11th) assigned to subplots. Results showed that in sum of two harvests, the yield of hay, forage, leaf and shoot hay weigh in second planting date and N2 and N3 level of fertility was higher than all treatments. In the case of quality treatments the percent of crude protein in first harvest had the most amounts in first and second planting date and N1, N2 and N3 fertility levels. Crude fiber percentage in first harvest of second planting date was highest in N1, N2 and N3 levels of fertility. Treatment interactions had not any significant effect for crude fiber. The most ash percent was observed in first harvest and N1, N2 and N3 fertility level. In second harvest time N2 and N3 fertility levels were superior to the rest. Also, fat percentage in first and second planting date and N1, N2 and N3 increased than the control fertility treatment.
