Istilah “Dajjal” sangat dikenal dalam kaitannya dengan eskatologi atau pembahasan tentang akhir zaman. Ironisnya, istilah ini asing di telinga orang Kristen di Indonesia, sebaliknya lebih diakrabi umat Islam, karena tercantum dalam hadits-hadits yang meriwayatkan akan turunnya ‘Isa Putra Maryam pada akhir zaman. Juga dalam kepustakaan Jawa pasca-Islam, sosok Dajjal ini sangat populer di telinga orang Jawa karena tercantum dalam sejumlah naskah Jangka Jayabaya. ====   The term "Dajjal" is very well known in connection with eschatology or the discussion of the end times. Ironically, this term is foreign to the ears of Christians in Indonesia, on the contrary it is more familiar to Muslims, because it is listed in the hadiths which narrate the descent of 'Isa Putra Maryam at the end of time. Also in post-Islamic Javanese literature, the figure of the Antichrist is very popular in the ears of the Javanese because it is listed in a number of Jangka Jayabaya texts.

Superficially there are many parallels between the Chilembwe Rising of 1915 in Nyasaland and the Easter Rising of 1916 in Ireland – both were anti-colonial rebellions against British rule. One interesting difference, however, occurs in the way academics have treated John Chilembwe, leader of the Nyasaland Rising, and Patrick Pearse, one of the leaders of the Irish Rising and the man who was proclaimed head of state of the Provisional government of Ireland. For while much research on Pearse has dealt with his religious ideas, comparatively little on Chilembwe has looked in detail at his religious motivation – even though he was the leader of an independent church. This paper begins by looking at some of the major strands in the religious thinking of Pearse, before going on to concentrate on the people and ideas which influenced Chilembwe both in Nyasaland and the United States. It argues that while many of these ideas were initially influenced by radical evangelical thought in the area of racial injustice, Chilembwe's thinking in the months immediately preceding his rebellion became increasingly obsessed by the possibility that the End Time prophecies of the Book of Daniel might apply to the current political position in Nyasaland. The conclusion is that much more academic attention needs to be given to the millennial aspects of Chilembwe's thinking as a contributory motivation for rebellion.

"The peculiarity of Paul's eschatology," is an explanatory study of Paul's theological thought, specifically relating to the ideas or teachings of the end-time (eschatology). It is remembered that eschatology is one of the doctrines in systematic theology that has not yet been fulfilled so it often leads to debate and often becomes a neglected doctrine because of the difficulty or error in interpreting the teaching. in this connection, this study intends to provide clarification and affirmation that Paul's belief in the events of the end times contained in his eschatological discussion is a fact that will really happen. In addition, this study also intends to convey the uniqueness or uniqueness of the end-time doctrine from the perspective of the apostle Paul. To realize that understanding, the author conducts a study of several Bible verses and the views of the experts in approaching the passages of Paul's eschatology. From this approach, there is some understanding of the peculiarities of Paul's eschatology whose impure theological thought is derived from himself, but his thoughts have had a significant influence, among them his background as a genuine Jew, his background of life stained by Greek thought, and that is primarily the influence of Paul's own Christian experience. Second, the peculiarity of Paul's eschatology is apparent through the notion of parousia, which refers to the notion of the second coming of Christ, the persistent perspective and hope of Paul in the second coming of Christ, and the deeply christological nuance found in his eschatological thought.Keywords: peculiarities, eschatology, Paul, end times, parousia, the second coming of the Lord.Abstrak“Kekhasan Eskatologi Paulus,” merupakan penelitian yang memberikan eksplanatori mengenai pemikiran-pemikiran teologis Paulus, secara khusus berkaitan dengan pemikiran-pemikiran atau pengajaran mengenai akhir zaman (eskatologi). Hal tersebut mengingat bahwa eskatologi merupakah salah satu doktrin dalam teologi sistematika yang belum tergenapi sehingga seringkali menimbulkan perdebatan dan tidak jarang menjadi doktrin yang diabaikan karena kesulitan atau kekeliruan dalam menafsirkan ajaran tersebut. sehubungan dengan hal tersebut, maka penelitian ini bermaksud untuk memberikan klarifikasi dan afirmasi bahwa keyakinan Paulus akan peristiwa-peristiwa akhir zaman yang terdapat dalam pembahasan eskatologinya merupakan fakta yang benar-benar akan terjadi. Di samping itu, penelitian ini juga bermaksud untuk menyampaikan keunikan atau kekhasan doktrin akhir zaman tersebut dari perspektif rasul Paulus. Untuk mewujudkan pemahaman tersebut, maka penulis melaksanakan kajian terhadap beberapa ayat Alkitab dan pandangan para pakar dalam mengadakan pendekatan terhadap ayat-ayat eskatologi Paulus. Dari pendekatan tersebut, diperoleh beberapa pemahaman mengenai kekhasan daripada eskatologi Paulus yang pemikiran teologis yang tidak murni berasal dari dirinya sendiri, namun pemikirannya mendapat pengaruh yang cukup signifikan, di antaranya adalah latar belakangnya sebagai orang Yahudi asli, latar belakang kehidupannya yang diwarnai oleh pemikiran Yunani, dan yang terutama adalah pengaruh pengalaman kekristenan Paulus sendiri. Kedua, kekhasan eskatologi Paulus nampak melalui pengertian parousia, yang merujuk pada pengertian kedatangan Kristus yang kedua kali, perspektif dan pengharapan Paulus yang pasti akan kedatangan Kristus yang kedua kali, serta nuansa kristologi yang sangat kental yang ditemukan dalam pemikiran eskatologinya.Kata-kata kunci: kekhasan, eskatologi, Paulus, akhir zaman, parousia, kedatangan Tuhan kedua kali.

The aim of this study was to analyze the crystallization of the Mg72Zn24Ca4 metallic glass alloy. The crystallization process of metallic glass Mg72Zn24Ca4 was investigated by means of the differential scanning calorimetry. The glass-forming ability and crystallization are both strongly dependent on the heating rate. The crystallization kinetics, during the isothermal annealing, were modelled by the Johnson–Mehl–Avrami equation. Avrami exponents were from 2.7 to 3.51, which indicates diffusion-controlled grain growth. Local exponents of the Johnson–Mehl–Avrami equation were also calculated. In addition, the Mg phase—being the isothermal crystallization product—was found, and the diagram of the time–temperature phase transformation was developed. This diagram enables the reading of the start and end times of the crystallization process, occurring in amorphous ribbons of the Mg72Zn24Ca4 alloy on the isothermal annealing temperature. The research showed high stability of the amorphous structure of Mg72Zn24Ca4 alloy at human body temperature.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to report a pilot study that evaluated an innovative practice in a faith community context designed to help older people live well at the end of life and prepare for death. Design/methodology/approach – A simple audit of the intervention using a contemporaneous journal kept by the author, and a follow up questionnaire completed by participants. Findings – Rich findings on the process are reported. These indicate a high degree of engagement by participants, the establishment of a high degree of group intimacy and trust, a high level of articulation of wisdom, the emergence of significant anxiety in some isolated cases, and the use made of tea and cake to manage the transition between the existentially demanding nature of the discussions and normal life. The outcome indicated very high levels of appreciation and increased confidence in relation to issues of death and dying. Practical implications – The findings of the pilot have been used to inform training of clergy in the principles of working in this area (e.g. in ways of managing group dynamics and anxiety, pacing, tuning in to archetypes and the natural symbols that people use to talk about death and dying, self-care and supervision of the programme leader/facilitator). Originality/value – The paper adds to knowledge in terms of an in depth description of processes at work in a group of older people working on spiritual and practical issues in relation to death, and offers ideas for supporting older people in this process, some of which are specific to the Christian tradition, and some of which are more widely applicable to people of all faiths and none. It gives a specific worked example of what “spiritual care” in this area might look like.

This chapter discusses Edwards’s view of history and the end times. It does so by examining four interlocking frameworks of interpretation that Edwards inherited from Reformed-Puritan theology: first, a general approach to relating the Bible and history; second, an intense kind of providentialism; third, specific forms of biblical theology aiming toward an integrated salvation history; and fourth, a futurist type of millennialist eschatology. What emerges from this is the picture of an Edwards who was, for the most part, a traditionalist. At the same time, he, like many of his peers, engaged with the intellectual discourses of the Enlightenment, both by partaking in them and criticizing their perceived excesses. Edwards’s version of a moderate Protestant Enlightenment produced a deepened, eschatologically inflected interest in redemption history, which he understood as a progressive continuum. Within this framework of history Edwards came to assign crucial significance to revivals.

The Armageddon will be the site of gathering of armies for a battle during end times, variously interpreted as either or symbolic location. The term is also used a generic sense to refer to end of the world scenario. According to the Bible, Jesus will return to earth and defeat the Antichrist, the False prophet and Satan the Devil in the Battle of Armageddon. Then Satan will be put into the “bottomless pit” or abyss for 1,000 years, knows as the Millennium.

“We’re moving from one plane of reality to another,” says Terry Tempest Williams in an interview with Yes! Magazine, “and what is required of us is spiritual.” Many people alive in the United States today have grown up bombarded by the seemingly futile refrain that if we don’t cut back on x (activity) in y (years), z (catastrophe) will ensue – with x becoming broader in scope, y becoming smaller in number, and z becoming more horrific with each passing year. Among the natural responses to such daunting and repetitive premonitions are anxiety and anguish: “Accept the anxiety, embrace the deeper anguish,” suggests Robert Jensen, “and then get apocalyptic.” Drawing upon Laudato si, liberation theology, and eco psychology, this paper argues for the importance of encounters (increasingly scarce) with the natural world, human and other-than-human, as a necessary spiritual practice grounding a commitment to ecojustice in times which are indeed end times of sorts. In a consideration of theological anthropology, I suggest, along with ecopsychologist Will Adams, that our subjectivity is indeed an intersubjectivity, arising out of our ethical response to not only the human other but also the other-than-human. We are by nature relational beings, and we must remember that this relation is not only relevant in human-human relationships. Liberation theologians have articulated the foundational nature of the encounter with poor – an experience which at once inspires awe, evokes mercy, and demands action – in grounding liberative praxis. Likewise, the encounter with nature, when its intersubjectivity is considered, grounds a praxis of ecojustice. Finally, understanding apocalypse in its etymological sense as “unveiling,” I argue for the role of the apocalyptic imagination, in making possible sustained exposure to such encounters, which entail both joy and despair. “Expect the end of the world,” writes Wendell Berry, “Be joyful though you have considered all the facts…Practice resurrection.”
