In our pronunciation courses, segmental level in English pronunciation plays a very important role in perception and teaching of English pronunciation. This research aims to investigate into the most salient pronunciation problems at segmental level by fresh college students from Mainland China through an experimental study, and it is found that the mismatches identified in the segmental level of English pronunciation are corresponded with the phonological features of the utterance of Chinese English. Moreover, in order to improve fresh college students’ pronunciation and achieve the pronunciation of Standard English, some pedagogical implications and suggestions about teaching strategies are provided in this study which aimed at the most salient mismatches discovered in the research findings.

This thesis is intended to probe into improve Chinese college students English writing from the perspective of pragmatic failure. T here is an experimental study with a questionnaire is analyzed to infer the students opinions and habits in English writing and culture learning and teaching. All the data and results of the research are analyzed to infer the causes of pragmatic failures in students English writing. The comparison and analysis between the two grades may show us to what extent these students improved and changed in their English writing in the two years

The purpose of this paper is to investigate how optimistic bias, consumption cognition, news attention, information credibility, and social trust affect the purchase intention of food consumption. Data used in this study came from a questionnaire survey conducted in college students in Taipei and Beijing. Respondents in the two cities returned 258 and 268 questionnaires, respectively. Samples were analyzed through structural equation modelling (SEM) to test the model. Results showed that Taiwanese college students did not have optimistic bias but Chinese students did. The models showed that both Taiwanese and Chinese students’ consumption cognition significantly influenced their purchase intention, and news attention significantly influenced only Chinese students’ purchase intention. Model comparison analysis suggested significant differences between the models for Taiwan and mainland China. The results revealed that optimistic bias can be reduced in different social contexts as that of the Taiwan model and the mainland Chinese model found in this study were indeed different. This study also confirmed that people had optimistic bias on food safety issues, based on which recommendations were made to increase public awareness of food safety as well as to improve government’s certification system.

When suicidal behavior is reported, student affairs officers on many campuses notify parents as one component of a multifaceted campus suicide prevention plan. In response to proposals to mandate parent notification, the author argues that practical considerations warrant against expanding state laws to require notification following campus suicide attempts. The recent experience with parent notice at one university confirms the work of earlier researchers who concluded that parents rarely withdraw suicidal students from enrollment. Although a policy of sending the letters may deter further episodes of selfdestructive behavior, parents once alerted to the situation are not likely to intervene in a manner that will reduce significantly the risk of suicide.

Because of the availability of user-friendly software and the affordability of hardware, computers have become a common means of organizational communication. Users have had to change the way they process thoughts and ideas and to transfer them into hard-copy documentation. The integration of the computer into the business communication curriculum allows the instructor to provide a relevant and practical educational experience for college students. This article examines the importance of incorporating hands-on usage of a microcomputer in the business communication class and discusses computer applications and teaching strategies for text editing, punctuation review, and grammar assistance.

Many researchers agree that virtue is an important psychological concept in contemporary psychology. The main purpose in this study was to investigate the relationship between virtues and the personality traits of college students in mainland China. Participants (N = 426) completed the Chinese Virtue Adjectives Rating Scale (CVARS; Mu, 2007) and the Chinese 16PF (Zhu & Dai, 1988). The results indicated that the 16 personality factors most closely related to the virtue factors were emotional stability, dominance, liveliness, rule-consciousness, social boldness, sensitivity, vigilance, abstractedness, apprehension, self-reliance, perfectionism, and tension. Second-order factors of the 16PF most strongly related to the virtue factors were anxiety, extraversion, tough-mindedness, and independence.
