<p>Consumers who have adopted tuanzhu group buying (TGB) changed from one-on-one online buying to buying led by a tuanzhu (ie. group leader). The tuanzhu integrates the demands and funds of multiple consumers and is responsible negotiating with the seller to achieve better transaction results as well as to acquire more information about the product to reduce various kinds of risk. However, the TGB mechanism is marred by delays and uncertainties, which can trigger potential customer risks. We recruited as participants 193 college students from four business schools. All students participated in the research voluntarily. The respondents were randomly assigned to the traditional online buying and TGB groups. Of the 193 surveys distributed, 146 were returned. Results of this study show that consumers’ perceived risk is higher with TGB than with online buying. As a result, TGB is much more complicated than traditional online buying, and thus consumers’ perceived risk is higher with TGB than with traditional online buying.</p>

Purpose- In pursuit for seeking the understanding of the implications of Hofstede’s cultural dimension, the current study assesses the relationship between uncertainty avoidance and incidence of self- medication among the consumers in Pakistan. Methodology/Sampling- The research methodology for the study is triangulation of qualitative and quantitative techniques. Constructs were espoused from previous studies however adaptation was made to suit the researcher’s needs. The instruments consisted of close ended questions only. Cross sectional data for the study has been collected through convenience sampling from a sample size of 300 students studying in different business schools in Karachi, Pakistan. Findings- We finally conclude that the working professionals enrolled in business schools generally tend to refrain from self- medication because they consider it as risky and that it that could have serious health consequences. However it was found that people tend to self- medicate for common type of ailments based on their previous experiences. The findings also supports are assumption that high score on uncertainty avoidance means low score on behavioral intentions. Practical Implications- The findings of the study suggest a significant relationship between behavioral intentions and uncertainty avoidance, measured through perceived risk and risk aversive behavior. The results of the study posit a negative relation between dependent and independent variables.

As a new e-commerce model, network group purchase develops rapidly for its advantages such as conservation and convenience. The college student is an important part of consumer of the online group buying, so the research on college student willingness has a important reference value for the expansion of market. Firstly, the article has a theoretical study on the influence factors of willingness of Online Group Buying for college students and carries out related questionnaires. Secondly, the article makes factor analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis using the statistical software of SPSS19.0. Finally, this paper proposes corresponding operation and management recommendations for relevant participants in online group-buying according to the study results.

AbstractSense of humor has been identified as a possible factor that leads to riskier behavioral choices, which could, in turn, contribute to health problems and reduced longevity. In previous studies, sense of humor was viewed as a one-dimensional, positive personal quality: the potential impact of maladaptive styles of humor was not acknowledged. The current study assesses both adaptive and maladaptive humor styles and relates them to perceived risk, and to the performance of risky behavior. The results do not support the suggestion that a sense of humor – when considered as a cheerful, carefree, and optimistic orientation – is related to assessments of risk or risky choices. Online retailing in India has shown tremendous growth in the recent years. However as compared to the other countries leading in online retailing, India is still in its initial stage of development. The purpose of this study was to explore the factors influencing the online buying behavior of the college students. Convenience sampling method was used to select the sample of 25 college students and qualitative content analysis was used for analyzing the textual content of the depth interview data. The main influencing factors for online shopping were identified as availability, low price, promotions, comparison, convenience, customer service, perceived ease of use, attitude, time consciousness, trust and variety seeking.

College waterpipe tobacco smokers who feel more ambivalence, that is, conflicted about its use, may have a stronger desire to quit. Using baseline survey data of 315 college waterpipe smokers, we examined this relationship. While frequency of feeling ambivalence was low, greater ambivalence was related with desire to quit ( r = .46, p < .001). This relationship remained significant after accounting for several correlates of desire to quit (e.g. perceived risk and worries about harm and addiction). Findings suggest that ambivalence may be an important independent variable linked with desire to quit and should be explored further as a factor influencing waterpipe tobacco use.
