In the context of post-apartheid period, there have been certain measures introduced to have employment equity in South Africa. The integration of black leadership in a white dominant companies was one among them. The purpose of this study is to identify the critical success factors that influence black leadership integration as per the reform measures defined after post-apartheid period in South Africa. The overall research question guiding this study is: What are the critical success factors that influence black leadership integration in companies listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange? The quantitative correlation research design utilizes a pre-validated survey to access the success factors that influence black leadership integration. To address the research question, the independent variables – corporate culture, leadership style, diversity and strategic leadership behaviours – were correlated with three dependent variables - tenure (years of service), job satisfaction and growth satisfaction (career development opportunities) as measures of successful leadership integration. The study finds statistically significant relationships amongst many of the 32 constructs identified in the literature which using factor analysis are described as fair treatment, job hopping, commitment to transformation, Black entrepreneurship and corporate culture. As defined by Black management, job satisfaction, career development (dependent variables), fair treatment and specific leaders behaviours (inspirational motivation and idealised attributes) (independent variables) as defined by MLQ 5X leadership survey are critical success measures that could influence Black leadership integration in Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE) listed companies. The results of this study provide strong evidence of critical success factors that have a statistically significant influence on successful Black leadership integration into historically White dominated South African companies.

Knowledge management is a critical issue in today's business world. Knowledge is considered to be one of the most strategic resources of a firm and sources of competitive advantage. This paper identifies and ranks Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for implementation of knowledge management in the Iranian Energy Sector. Using the Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method the relative quantitative weights of 8 of the major CSFs for implementation of knowledge management are identified, based on analyses with KM designers in the Iranian energy sector. The outcomes of the research designate that the critical success factors in the order of importance are: corporate culture, human and financial resources, strategy and leadership, structures and procedures, meso environmental factors, knowledge management process, macro environmental factors, technology and infrastructure.

Background: The continued in failure of agile and traditional software development projects have led to the consideration, attention and dispute to critical success factors that are the aspects which are most vital to make a software engineering methodology fruitful. Although there is an increasing variety of critical success factors and methodologies, the conceptual frameworks which have causal relationship are limited.Objective: The objective of this study was to identify and provide insights into the critical success factors that influence the success of software development projects using agile methodologies in South Africa.Method: Quantitative method of collecting data was used. Data were collected in South Africa through a Web-based survey using structured questionnaires.Results: These results show that organisational factors have a great influence on performance expectancy characteristics.Conclusion: The results of this study discovered a comprehensive model that could provide guidelines to the agile community and to the agile professionals.

For the successful implementation of the construction projects, researchers have tried to analyze the success factors. In the available literature, there is no clear indication to the success factors that are related to the projects related to construction. Many major construction journals were included to review the project success factors and developed a framework including six groups of independent variables, namely PRF, PMTMRF, PMRF, CLRF, CORF & EF and one dependent variable, i.e., CPS. The main purpose of this research is to test the developed conceptual framework on the CSFs in construction projects. Further the scale is tested for validity and reliability and finally SEM is applied and it is found that CSFs have 70.8% impact on the CPS. And also it is found that PMRF has the maximum impact in the success of construction projects.


Big Data could be used in any industry to make effective data-driven decisions. Over the last decade, the research on Critical Success Factors (CSFs) within Big Data has developed rapidly but the number of available publications is still at a low level. We have identified a total of eleven theories that help explain why IT outsourcing is occurring worldwide. These theories were presented in the previous Chapter 2. Based on these theories, we develop eleven critical success factors in IT outsourcing, one for each theory. These factors are presented in the first section of this chapter. We developed the following research question: How do practitioners rank critical success factors based on outsourcing theories? To study this research question, we developed a survey instrument and conducted a survey among business organizations. Results from this survey and discussion of the findings are presented. In the second section of this chapter, we conceptualize the outsourcing of IT services as an electronic business activity, where the vendor electronically provides IT services to the client. The idea is that the purchasing of IT services is a business-to-business (B2B) relationship, which leads to outsourcing implications in terms of services that the vendor has to provide to its customers. Thus, we will in the second section look at critical success factors in electronic business infrastructure as an example of issues that need to be addressed.

Joint ventures (JVs) have become increasingly common, because of the complexity and challenges associated with the delivery of construction projects globally and in South Africa. However, it has been established that JV projects have experienced unsatisfactory performance leading to clients’ dissatisfaction. The purpose of this paper is therefore to determine the critical success factors (CSFs) influencing the performance of JV construction projects in South Africa. A positivist philosophy position was adopted using a structured questionnaire survey administered to the construction professionals. Prior to the main study, a content validity of the questionnaire was achieved using a pilot study. The data was collected from 115 conveniently sampled respondents, and analysed using principal component analysis and multiple regression analysis. The exploratory factor analysis revealed two empirical models to be tested; namely the first and second order factor models. The result of the first order model revealed that, management control influenced achievement of project objective of JV, whereas, the second order model established that understanding of contractual agreement, which was explained by six components of CSFs influenced achievement of project objective. It is suggested that stakeholders who prefer to be involved in JV projects should acquire good understanding of the contractual agreement in managing JV projects in order to successfully achieve the project objectives. This study adds to the discourse and literature on CSFs of JVs. It provides new empirical evidence of the CSFs that influence project performance outcome of JV in the context of South Africa which can also be replicated in other countries globally. However, the study may not be generalised because of the geographical setting and respondents.

Since the end of 2014, BCA has started to use Scrum framework in order to switch from waterfall methodology that already considered as traditional IT project methodology. Regarding that condition, this research aims to find out the effectiveness of Scrum framework on IT project management at PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA). This research use a model to describe correlation between five Scrum Critical Success Factors ,that assumed as measurement of Scrum effectiveness, and four factors perceived as success of IT project management. With this model, the research has twelve independent variables and four dependent variables to be analyzed. This research use quantitative method and multiple regression analysis as a method for conducting analysis. The study found that three from five Scrum Critical Success Factors that have significant influence to four factors perceived as success of IT project management. From those three Scrum Critical Success Factors, there are five independent variables that have significant influence, such as management commitment, project management process, project definition process, project type and project schedule. The use of Scrum framework is quite effective on IT project management at PT Bank Central Asia Tbk.
