Color vision deficiency is a condition affecting human's ability to see or recognize specific colors. It is mostly genetic, X-linked recessive inheritance and thus, is more common  among  males  than  females.  This  cross  sectional study was done to find the prevalence of color vision deficiency among high school students in Shekhan city and to find the relation of color vision deficiency with different races. The study has been conducted in two high schools that were present inside Shekhan city at the  time of the study (Amad high school for males and Hajand high school for females). All students screened by using Ishihara 24 plates.640 students (283 males, 357 females) were screened. Students' age range (15-22 years), the Mean age for males17.50 years and for females 17.13 years. The prevalence of Color Vision Deficiency was 6.36% among males and 0.84% among females. The most common types of Color Vision Deficiency  among  males  were  deuteranomaly  (10cases),protanomaly (5 cases), deuteranopia (2 cases) and protanopia (1 case).  There was no significant difference between races and color vision deficiency. Similar to dyslexia, before it was well known and well understood, color vision deficiency is aninvisible disability and can lead to students becoming disappointment with learning or feeling that they are moronic or less cable than others. It can provide erroneous rules for learning and indeed, even influence how well they do in their exams and consecutively their choice of career.

Background: The High Schools Engagement Programme (HSEP), is a West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) public engagement initiative that targets students in under-resourced high schools in Ghana. Annual programmes are directed towards providing information on prospective careers in Science and discussing the causes of and preventive measures against endemic infectious diseases. Using peer-learning strategies, post-undergraduate research trainees (graduate interns) encourage collective action against the diseases and work to inspire high school students to consider scientific research as a career, either directly or in support roles. The objective of this study was to explore the outcomes of the HSEP, specifically revealing how it met its initial objectives, and other relevant unintended outcomes. Methods: An evaluation design, which relied on a survey and interviews of 138 high school students, 9 graduate interns, and 3 teachers who participated in the 2019 edition of the HSEP, was employed. Results: The HSEP presented a likelihood of improving the academic performance of high school students and provided motivation for them to pursue careers in scientific research. The programme also equipped the students with requisite knowledge to contribute to the prevention of infectious diseases prevalent in their communities. As trainee scientists, graduate interns also developed awareness on the need for public engagement, the challenges of STEM education in Ghana and the need to make efforts to address these challenges, and also developed key leadership and soft skills. Conclusions: Overall, the HSEP could potentially be a model for developing a public engagement ecosystem in Ghana. It is recommended that the programme is scaled up to include master’s degree and PhD researchers as facilitators to further widen the favorable impacts.

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between high school students' digital addiction levels and their inquiry skills. The sample of the study consists of 319 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade high school students chosen by random sampling. Of these students studying in Sivas province schools of Turkey, two are Anatolian High School, and one is an Anatolian Imam Hatip (Religious) High School. 190 of the students are girls (59.6%), and 129 are boys (40.4%). Data were collected through the "Digital Addiction Scale (DAS)" developed by Dilci (2019) and the "Inquiry Skills Scale (ISS)" developed by Aldan Karademir and Saracaloglu (2013). In analyzing the data, the arithmetic mean and standard deviation values of the scores obtained from the scales were found, and Pearson's correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis tests were used. The study detected negative significant relationships, albeit low, between the DAS sub-dimensions of deprivation, impulsivity, underperformance, low self-perception, and social isolation and all the sub-dimensions of ISS (i.e. acquiring knowledge, controlling knowledge, and self-confidence). There was also a low negative significant relationship between the overall DAS and ISS scores of the high school students. Finally, digital addiction levels were determined to explain 5% of the variance in the high school students' inquiry skills.
