One of the primary functions of education is to provide students with opportunities to maximize their full potentials in all areas of life. A school's guidance and counseling program's function is to offer a broad spectrum of services to facilitate students' growth and development. These services include but are not limited to individual inventory, information service, counseling, service, placement service, and follow up service. Hence, this paper describes the extent of utilization and the degree of satisfaction of high school students in a Catholic school in Antique during the school year 2019-2020. Likewise, it explores the significant difference in the extent of utilization and the degree of satisfaction vis-à-vis the respondent's sex and grade levels.

The main aim of this study is to comparatively examine the “Studying and Learning Strategies” used by the students of Science and Anatolian High Schools, which are the general secondary instruction level in the Turkish Educational System, at Adana province example in Turkey. The study is a descriptive study, a relational survey model. The population of the study is 9th and 12th grade students who are studying in Anatolian and Science High Schools in the city center of Adana. This study group of this research is consisted of 393 students in 9th and 12th grades who were studying at Adana Science High School and Seyhan İMKB Anatolian High School in the spring term of the 2019-2020 academic year. As a data collection tool, the “Study and Learning Strategies Scale for High School Students” developed by Kutlu, Yapıcı and Korkmaz (2015), consisting of 46 items and five sub-dimensions, was used. As a result of the study, when the “Study and Learning Strategies” of the students are examined according to school types; It has been determined that there is a significant difference in the sub-dimensions of “Repetition” and “Enjoying Learning”. It has been observed that there is a significant difference between male and female students in “Repetition” and “Self-Confidence” sub-dimensions according to the gender of the students. There is no significant difference between the levels of 9th and 12th grade students studying at Science and Anatolian High Schools according to their grade levels.

Parental involvement is the foundation of a child's education that has been recognized to positively impact students' academic outcomes. However, a lack of parents’ support and involvement in the children's education persists in a catholic school in the Philippines. It leads to issues concerning its role in children's academic performance with single parents. Thus, this study describes the extent of involvement of solo parents based on Epstein's framework covering parenting, communicating, volunteering, learning at home, decision-making, and collaborating in relation to their demographics. It also describes the level of academic performance of high school students with solo parents in a catholic school during the School Year 2019 – 2020 as a whole and according to the academic level. It also explores the differences in the extent of involvement and level of the students' academic performance and the relationship between these two variables.

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the factors that prevent girls high school participation in recreational activities. The investigation includes 376 students who are in 9. , 10, and 11. grades who study in Samsun Fatma Çavuş Vocational and Technical High School. As a data collection tool ‘personal information form’ and ‘Leisure Constraints Questionnaire-18’. It is used descriptive scanning model in this study. For the relation of statistical analysis, versatile variance analysis; for detecting the difference test of LSD and test of χ² was used. The data obtained from the scale in the research were analyzed by means of SPSS 21.0 statistical software program. In both age groups and grade levels a remarkable difference was monitored in total points (EG: 2,9- GL: 3,43) and subscale of individual psychology (EG: 4,65- GL: 4,17) and establishing (EG: 3,77- GL: 7,35). However, there is no significant difference when examined according to participation in open space activities (p>0.05).As a result, the participation to recreative activities of high school students is affected by varied factors in accordance with their age and grade level. The majority of the students sometimes have great difficulty in their leisure time activities. Elimination of these barriers/difficulties will be useful. ÖzetBu çalışmada, kız lisesi öğrencilerinin rekreatif etkinliklere katılımını engelleyen faktörlerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma, Samsun Fatma Çavuş Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi’nde 2014-2015 öğretim yılında 9. 10. ve 11. Sınıf öğrencilerinden toplam 376 kişiyi kapsamaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Boş Zaman Engelleri Ölçeği-18” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada betimsel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. İstatistik analizinde çok yönlü varyans analizi, farklılığın tespiti için LSD testi ve ilişki için χ² testi yapılmıştır. Araştırmada ölçekten elde edilen veriler SPSS 21.0 paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Hem yaş gruplarına hem de sınıf düzeyine göre ölçek toplam puanında (YG: 2,9- SD: 3,43) ve bireysel psikoloji (YG: 4,65- SD: 4,17) ve tesis (YG: 3,77- SD: 7,35) alt boyutlarında anlamlı fark olduğu görülmüştür. Fakat açık alan etkinliklerine katılma durumlarına göre incelendiğinde ise anlamlı farklılık görülmemektedir (p>0.05). Sonuç olarak, lise öğrencilerinin rekreatif etkinliklere katılımı yaş grubu ve sınıf düzeyine göre değişik faktörlerden     etkilenmektedir. Boş zamanı değerlendirmede katılımcıların büyük çoğunluğunun bazen güçlük çektiği görülmektedir. Bu güçlüklerin/engellerin ortadan kaldırılması faydalı olacaktır

Study habits and skills differ from one person to another. Effective study habits are instrumental for students to gain mastery of a topic learned and ensure good academic performance. Study habits that students employ to cope with their lessons are ways, techniques, and learning styles which may include, but not limited to, time management or the number of hours spent studying their lessons and making assignments; study environment, test-taking skills which include students’ readiness or preparedness in taking tests; note-taking skills or student’s efficiency in taking down notes during class hours or while reading; reading skills which are the student’s ability to understand and comprehend lessons, tests, and reading materials; writing skills or the ability to observe correct grammar and to write effectively; and math skills or the facility and ease in solving math problems. With the advancement of technology, students nowadays engage themselves more in gadgets and spend more time in electronic media and social media; thus, students' study habits are slowly deteriorating when it comes to frequency and quality. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the level of study habits in relation to selected demographics of high school students in a Catholic School in Antique during the school year 2019-2020. Likewise, it measured the relationship between the demographic variables and their extent of study habits and determined which areas predict the students' study habits.

Efficacy beliefs are the foundation of human agency. Beliefs influenced students’ motivation to learn. Students' self-efficacy beliefs could be improved as long as one has a clear idea about the sources of self-efficacy beliefs. Students enable them to grow as self-efficient individuals and overcome problems they face in educational stages or their future life if provided with the opportunity and training on self-efficacy beliefs. Hence, this paper describes the level of efficacy and degree of college readiness of senior high students of a Diocesan Catholic School in Antique during the School Year 2019-2020. Likewise, it explores the significant difference between students’ demographics, self-efficacy, and college readiness. Moreover, it determines the correlation between self-efficacy and college readiness of the students; and whether self-efficacy influenced college readiness.

The current study investigated resilience factors influencing the associations between binge drinking and measures of educational participation among Canadian youth. Self-reported data were collected during the 2016/2017 school year from 5238 students in Grades 9 through 12 (2744 females, 2494 males) attending 14 secondary schools in Ontario and British Columbia as part of the COMPASS study. Logistic regression analyses were conducted to determine relationships between binge drinking, school connectedness and flourishing on measures of educational participation. Binge drinking was associated with increased likelihood of skipping classes, going to class without completing homework, lower Math and English scores, and having educational and/or training expectations and aspirations beyond high school only. Decreased flourishing was linked to increased likelihood of going to class with incomplete homework, lower Math and English scores, and decreased likelihood of aspiring and expecting to achieve education and/or training beyond high school only. Increased school connectedness was associated with decreased likelihood of skipping classes and going to class with incomplete homework, higher Math and English scores, and increased the likelihood of aspiring to and expecting to achieve education and/or training beyond high school only. Lower flourishing was additive in its effect on current binge drinking in negatively impacting class attendance and homework completion and academic performance, while higher school connectedness was compensatory in its effect on these outcomes. This study suggests that, for high school students who are susceptible to binge drinking, those who are more connected to school and have a higher sense of wellbeing can maintain active participation in school and achieve their educational goals.

The lack of diversity among patent holders in the United States (1-3) is a topic that is being discussed by federal policymakers. Available data suggests that prolific patent holders and leading technology innovators are 88.3% male and nearly 94.3% Asian, Pacific Islander, or White, and half of the diversity that does exist is among those who are foreign born (3). The data shows that there is a need for greater diversity among patent holders. Few studies, however, are available to guide the work of educators creating learning opportunities to help young people from diverse backgrounds learn to invent. Educators must navigate issues that have complex sociocultural and historical dimensions (4), which shape the ideas of those surrounding them regarding who can invent, with whom, under what conditions, and for what purposes. In this paper, we report the results of an ongoing multimethod study of an invention education pro- gram that has worked with teachers and students in Grades 6 through 12 for the past 16 years. Findings stem from an analysis of end-of-year experience surveys and interview transcripts of six students (three young men and three young women) who participated in high school InvenTeams®. The data were used to investigate three topics: 1) ways high school students who have participated on an InvenTeam conceptualize the term "failure" and what it means to "learn from failure," 2) what supported and constrained the work of the three young women during their InvenTeams experience and the implications for policy makers concerned about the gender gap in patenting, and 3) ways the young men and young women took up (or didn't take up) the identity of "inventor" after working on a team that developed a working prototype of an invention during the previous school year.

Many countries have incorporated computational thinking (CT) and programming languages into their science and technology courses. Students can improve their CT ability by learning programming languages. Moreover, situated learning enables students to generate knowledge and master problem-solving skills through interaction with situations. This study incorporated Webduino learning and the situated learning strategy into a programming course and analyzed its impact on high school students’ CT ability, learning motivation, and course satisfaction. A quasi-experimental research method was adopted, wherein the experimental group was subjected to the situated learning strategy and the control group was subjected to a traditional teaching method. The study results revealed that integrating Webduino programming with situated learning could effectively improve five categories of CT skills; moreover, the activity models of situated learning enhanced the value and expectation dimensions of learning motivation. In addition, satisfaction with the course content and self-identity slightly improved. However, because teachers were required to elaborate on stories to promote learner engagement with life situations, the time available for programming was limited. Thus, no significant difference was observed in teaching satisfaction.

The possible relationships among creativity, intelligence, and self actualization were examined in 208 high school students to determine whether or not consistent self actualization scores existed for subjects high in the first two variables. Students high in both creativity and intelligence had significantly higher scores in self actualization than those obtained by students high in either creativity or intelligence. No significant difference in self actualization was found between students high in creativity only and those high in intelligence only. The results were interpreted as indicating that educational systems should stress both intellectual and creative abilities to achieve the highest level of psychological well being in students.

Peer assessment training has appeared as potential new tools for enhancing Arab English as foreign language (EFL) high school students on writing performance. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of using peer assessment training on writing performance among Arab EFL high school students. One hundred and twenty students aged fifteen and sixteen years old participated in this study with an equal number of male and female students. The students were from two Arab high schools in Malaysia. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design. Data was collected using Analytical Marking Scale (Alderson, et al., 1995) to assess student’s writing performance in the pretest and posttest. The result of this study shows that there is a significant difference in the writing performances between the experimental and control groups at P < 0.001. The findings suggests that students who have been exposed to peer assessment training write a better draft compared with those students who were only given conventional training in writing an essay, and without the benefit of peer feedback.
