This research was carried out to examine the metaphoric perceptions of adolescents regarding the concept of coronavirus (COVID-19).For this purpose, 60 adolescents (33 girls, 27 boys) studying at different grade levels of three high schools at different socio-economic levels determined by maximum diversity sampling from high schools in Erzincan city center were included in the research.With the questionnaireform developed for adolescents, “Coronavirus (COVID-19) ……is similar. Because………." was asked.The data obtained were analyzed by content analysis method. In this context, categories suitable for metaphors were created and the consistency of the categories with metaphors and descriptions was determined. Eight metaphors that are not suitable for the subject of the study are excluded from the study. In line with the results obtained, it was determined that adolescents developed 49 different metaphors and these metaphors were collected under eight categories. It can be said that the metaphoric perceptions of adolescents regarding the concept of coronavirus (COVID-19) are generally negative.

Introducing micro-credentialing into Lehman College's teacher residency program provides candidates with opportunities not afforded in Master's courses of study. Through the micro-credential offerings, residents learn to integrate literacy strategies and computational thinking across subject areas and grade levels. This chapter explores how micro-credentials validate non-credit “course” structures by linking content knowledge with pedagogy and theory with practice. The design and execution of both the micro-credentials described in the chapter make explicit connection between competencies and student learning.

A framework presenting the multiple definitions of options to differentiate the curriculum for gifted students is outlined. The framework also conveys the accompanying characteristics to consider to facilitate the appropriate selection and implementation of these options across grade levels and subject areas. The framework enables teachers to examine each of the options to determine their feasibility to differentiate curriculum to meet the educational expectations for gifted students and the perceived needs of the teaching/learning processes.

In this study; it is aimed to determine the perceptions and approaches of the 4th and 5th grade students regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The phenomenology study, which is one of the qualitative research designs, was planned as the most appropriate method for the research. The study group of the research consisted of a total of 100 students studying at the 4th and 5th-grade levels in the city center of Van in the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Fifty of the students are in the fourth grade and 50 are in the fifth grade. In order to determine the reflections of the COVID-19 pandemic on children's drawings, drawings of students and their own explanations of drawings were evaluated as research data. Data were collected from the students in the study group by complying with the pandemic conditions. In this process, students were asked to make a drawing explaining their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. The obtained qualitative data (drawings) were analyzed by the content analysis method. As a result of the research, it has been observed that the news in the media has its counterparts in the world of children, and that this news have effects on the way the pandemic is reflected on the pictures. It was observed that there were descriptions of masks and distance in the paintings of both student groups. It has been observed that the pandemic, which children encounter in the early stages of their relationship with the environment, is transferred to the pictures as a reflection of fear, and expressed as the fear of getting sick and infecting their environment. It has been determined that children have learned the "14 rules" created in the early stages of the pandemic. In “School Choice in Chile,” Correa et al. describe the design and implementation of the new school admissions system in Chile. The design, based on the celebrated work of Gale, Shapley, and Roth, involves several challenges to comply with the Chilean legislation. For instance, the system includes different priorities and quotas for different groups of students. Moreover, the system operates nationwide and in all grade levels. As a result of the latter, one of the primary goals was to favor the joint assignment of siblings to the same schools. To accomplish this, the authors propose a heuristic approach that dynamically updates preferences, and breaks ties at the family level to increase the probability that siblings are assigned to the same school. The system, introduced in 2016 and still in use today, serves more than half a million students each year.

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between Academic Self-Concept and Academic Self-Efficacy of university students studying in the field of sports sciences. The population of the research consists of a total of 619 students from the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades of Karabük University Hasan Doğan School of Physical Education and Sports, while the sample group consists of a total of 241 students, 88 of whom are female and 153 are male. “Personal Information Form”, “Matovu Academic Self-Concept Scale” developed by Liu and Wang (2005) and later adapted for university students by Matovu (2014) and adapted into Turkish by Cantekin and Gökler (2019), and the “Academic Self-Efficacy Scale” developed by Kandemir (2010) were used as data collection tools in the research. The data obtained were analyzed with the SPSS-24 Package Program. At the same time, Pearson correlation analysis, Independent-Samples t-test analysis, One-Way ANOVA (One-Way Analysis of Variance), Tukey multiple comparison were used in the analysis and interpretation of the data. While there is a significant difference between the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (ASES) and Self-Efficacy for Academic Effort, one of its sub-dimensions, according to the gender of the students, there is no significant difference between it and the other sub-dimensions. According to the grade levels of the students, there is a significant difference between the total of ASES and Self-Efficacy for Handling Academic Problems, one of its sub-dimensions, while there is no significant difference between it and other sub-dimensions.

The aim of this research was to describe the errors and reading levels that 6th and 7th grade Chilean primary school children reach when working with line graphs. To achieve this objective, we gave a questionnaire, previously validated by experts with two open-ended tasks, to a sample of 745 students from different Chilean cities. In the first task, we asked the children to read the title of the graph, describe the variables represented and perform a direct and inverse reading of a data value. In the second task, where we address the visual effect of a scale change in a representation, the students had to select the line graph more convenient to a candidate. Although both tasks were considered easy for the grade levels targeted, only some of the students achieved the highest reading level and many made occasional errors in the reading of the graphs. Abstract: Spanish El objetivo de esta investigación es describir los errores y niveles de lectura que alcanzan estudiantes chilenos de 6º y 7º grado de Educación Primaria al trabajar con gráficos de líneas. Para lograr este objetivo, se aplicó un cuestionario, previamente validado por expertos, con dos tareas abiertas a una muestra de 745 estudiantes de diferentes ciudades chilenas. En la primera tarea, se pidió que leyeran el título del gráfico, indicaran las variables representadas y realizaran una lectura directa y otra inversa de un valor de datos. En la segunda tarea, los estudiantes deben seleccionar y justificar el gráfico de líneas más conveniente para respaldar a un candidato, donde se aborda el efecto visual de cambio de escala en una representación. Aunque ambas tareas fueron fáciles, solo una parte de los estudiantes logró el máximo nivel de lectura y aparecieron errores ocasionales en la lectura de los gráficos.

This study aims at analyzing the learning outcomes of the 2018 science education curricula in Turkey according to science process skills. Learning outcomes are statements that describe what a learner will know, understand, and/or be able to do after completing a learning process. Learning outcomes were evaluated using document analysis which is a qualitative research method. There were 269 learning outcomes analyzed from the curricula . The science learning outcomes in the curricula which are prepared by the Turkey Ministry of National Education, were examined, starting from fourth-grade to eighth-grade levels. The results show that the least common science process skills are “measuring” and “hypothesizing” dimensions, while the most common are “data interpreting” and “inferring” dimensions. The highest science learning outcomes are at the seventh-grade level, and the least science learning outcomes are at the fifth-grade level. As the grade level increases, it is seen that more learning outcomes represent higher-level skills. The number of basic science process skills of the fourth-grade level learning outcomes is higher than the number of integrated science process skills, and the number of integrated science process skills is high in learning outcomes at all other grade levels.

ABSTRAKDalam dunia  pendidikan, school bullying merupakan salah satu masalah sosial yang cukup memprihatinkan karena terjadi hampir disemua tingkat kelas dan diseluruh dunia. Banyak faktor  internal maupun eksternal yang  berkontribusi pada school bullying. Pemahaman atas hak-hak anak serta implementasinya dalam Sekolah Ramah Anak merupakan salah satu solusinya. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan modelling tentang Sekolah Ramah Anak. Diharapkan para peserta memiliki landasan konseptual yang komprehensif tentang Sekolah Ramah Anak dan dapat mengimplementasikannya di sekolah masing-masing. Pelatihan dan modelling dilaksanakan melalui aplikasi Zoom, Schoology dan Whatsapp. Setelah pelaksanaan pelatihan, para peserta memiliki pemahaman dasar konseptual yang lebih komprehensif tentang Konvensi Hak-Hak Anak dan implementasinya dalam Sekolah Ramah Anak. Sehingga, mereka mampu berimaji membuat rancangan program implementasi Sekolah Ramah Anak di sekolah masing-masing. Kata kunci: hak-hak anak; sekolah ramah anak; student well-being. ABSTRACTIn the education world, school bullying represents a social problem that needs excellent attention because it occurs in almost all grade levels across the globe. Many internal and external factors contribute to school bullying. Understanding children's rights and their implementation in Child-Friendly Schools is one of the solutions for the problem. This community service aims to provide training and modelling on Child-Friendly Schools. It is hoped that the participants gain a comprehensive conceptual foundation on Child-Friendly Schools and implement it in their institutions. Training and modelling are carried out through the Zoom, Schoology and Whatsapp applications. The result of the activity indicated that the participants had a more comprehensive conceptual, basic understanding of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its implementation in Child-Friendly Schools. In addition, they could design programs to implement Child-Friendly Schools in their institution. Keywords: children's rights; child-friendly schools; student well-being.

This study aimed to assess the implementation of the Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Learning Resources as a basis for an intervention program amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. Using a universal sampling technique, a total of 30 Learning Resource Coordinators in a selected school division in Central Luzon, Philippines participated in the survey and data gathering. The researchers also used an adapted research instrument to gather essential information for the study. With the help Microsoft Excel, the researchers tabulated and organized the data. Afterwards, the gathered data underwent descriptive statistical analysis using frequency and percentage. The study found that the ADM Learning Resources developed by teachers exceeded DepEd's total number of Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs). For the total number of learners who preferred modular printed learning modality, it reached 67.89%.  There were 100% ADM Learning Resources provided to learners in all grade levels for the status of printed learning resources. Based on the earlier results, the researcher provided some essential recommendations, particularly an intervention program for this study.
