The article provides a list of the localities of 268 species of weeds recorded in the years 1981-1985 on segetal habitats of the Bolimów Primeval Forest. In addition the general characteristics and an evaluation of anthropogenic changes in segetal flora in this area is presented. The analysis of collected and compiled materials has allowed the interrelationship existing between the composition of the segetal flora in the area under study and the natural conditions, state of agriculture and intensification of urban processes to be determined.

In term of floods the current area of Hungary has extensively been endangered. Modelling of flood processes – mainly following the hydrological events in the riverbed – has recently been developed. As far as protection dykes provide protection of the inhabited and agricultural areas, the flood models can run with acceptable preciseness. However, when dykes cannot withstand against the increasing load and a dyke burst occurs, fast and efficient protection measures shall be taken in the protected areas. The dynamic 4D Flood model presented in this paper makes possible a fast modelling of dyke burst occurring in the protected side and spreading of water mass, based on real parameters. For this reason the features of protected area shall be recognised, for example topology of creeks, features of agricultural and inhabited areas, parameters of roads, railways, rainwater drainage, buildings, natural conditions (soil parameters, meteorological characteristics, etc.). The results satisfy the comprehensive demands of the Directorate General for Disaster Prevention of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. In case of dyke burst, the completed Flood Model can run the expected events of the next hour in a few minutes. This time is enough for the specialists to bring operative decisions to protect the inhabitants and avoid material losses.

The article discusses the natural conditions and biological resources, landscape features of the key territory of the natural Park "Samarovsky Chugas", located in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk. An overview of geographical studies of this region is given. The main components that influence the formation of natural complexes of a specially protected natural area are characterized. Special attention is paid to the characteristics of vegetation and the processes of anthropogenic changes in the landscapes of this key area. The main ways of vegetation transformation caused by economic activity and changes in the nature of surface runoff are highlighted. The ecological and geographical conditions of the Orchid refugium are characterized. The article substantiates the need to allocate the studied area as a zone with a protected regime within the territory of a natural Park.

AbstractThe presented checklist and red list include 231 liverwort (Marchantiophyta) and two hornwort species (Anthocerotophyta). Overall, 22.9% of liverworts are evaluated as threatened (CR – 4.3%, EN – 7.8%, VU – 10.8%), while 17 of species (7.4%) are categorized as NT, 11.6% as DD and 3.0% as RE. A total of 128 species (55.4% of the liverwort flora of Slovakia) were assessed as LC. For the liverwort Lunularia cruciata the criteria were not applicable (NA), since this species is not native to Slovakia. Currently, only two hornworts are known in Slovakia, of which Anthoceros agrestis is assessed as LC and Phaeoceros carolinianus as NT. The main factors of the liverwort and hornwort endangerment and retreat are anthropogenic changes in natural conditions and degradation of the ecosystems caused by agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, climatic changes, industry, and traffic pollution.

The article presents the results of studies on segetal communities in Bolimów Primeval Forest carried out in the years 1981-1985. The analysis of 205 phytosociological records has allowed to distinguish 7 associations and 2 communities (Tables I-XIV). Among the most common communities on this area are: Teesdaleo-Arnoseridetum minimae and Digitarietum ischaemi. On the other hand, very rare communities include: Spergulo-Veronicetum dillenii, Papaveretum argemones, a community from Saxifraga tridactylites and a community from Ranunculus arvensis. The distinguished communities reflect the present state of the ecological productive potential, they represent specific types of the habitats of potential natural vegetation, and show a distinct relationship with definite habitat units - soil-agricultural complexes.

Ukraine is located about at the latitude of France, the northern part of the United States and southern Canada and has similar to these countries natural conditions. Different in terms of soil and climate conditions, the regions of agriculture in Ukraine can be considered as analogues of similar natural conditions of agricultural areas in other parts of the world. Soils with a high carbon content are more productive and able to better filter and purify water. Water contained in the soil serves as a moisture source for 90% of world agricultural production. One of the main areas of research is the study of the ratios of main products and by-products of yield, as well as root and plant residues when having different soil fertility and using promising varieties and hybrids of crops. The use of optical express methods should be carried out according to the stages of organogenesis of field crops, which will enable to specify the relationships between them, to develop criteria and indicators for effective regulation of nitrogen and carbon cycle in the system "soil - plant - atmosphere", to develop models of formation and transformation of root and other plant residues taking into account changing agrometeorological factors, crop rotations, features of the branch structure of agricultural production, varieties and hybrids of field crops. In the future, this will enable to determine the areas in the selection aimed at accumulating root mass and achieving garanteed deficit-free balance of organic carbon in the soil. The research will enable to purposefully and effectively regulate the cycle of carbon and nitrogen, both at the level of individual agricultural production systems and on the scale of the same type of agricultural areas and regions, taking into account the whole set of variables, including features of the sectoral structure of production, climate change, etc.

The management of surface watercourses is an urgent scientific task. The article presents the results of statistical processing of long-term monthly data of field observations of hydrological and hydrochemical parameters along the Upper Yerga small river in the Vologda region. Sampling estimates of statistical parameters are obtained, autocorrelation and correlation analyzes are performed. The limiting periods from the point of view of pollution for water receivers receiving wastewater from drained agricultural areas are identified.

Raymond Bellour describes how his interest in video art grew out of his personal friendship with Thierry Kuntzel and the latter’s growing interest in experimental filmmaking using the new technology, and how this interest prompted him to seek to understand how the new medium was leading to a modification of perception. He goes on to explain how video technology enables the production of images that escape the natural conditions deemed to constrain photography, also emphasizing the influence of painting on video art.
