In order to integrate parasitoid wasps in agroecosystems as biological control agents, we need to understand how insecticides affect the parasitoids in the crops and their surroundings. We investigated the non-target effect of Indoxacarb, an insecticide commonly used against European grapevine moth, on parasitoid wasp communities in vineyards. We focused on characterizing: 1. The dynamics of common wasp species, and 2. Wasp abundance and species richness in the vineyard center, edge, and nearby natural area. Seven vineyards, with neighboring natural areas, were sampled before, and up to 2 weeks after, Indoxacarb applications over 2 years. We expected initial negative effects of spraying in the vineyard with some effect of Indoxacarb drift into the natural habitat, followed by wasp recovery, first in natural areas, then at the vineyard edge and finally in the center. Sticky traps were hung at the vineyard edge and center to evaluate migration into and out of the vineyard. Vacuum sampling was used to obtain parasitoid total abundance and species richness, and the abundances of four common species (43% of the wasps collected). From the vacuum samples we found that total wasp abundance and richness declined after spraying in the vineyards’ margins and center but rose over time in the natural area. Vineyard wasp abundance was restored to pre-spraying levels within 2 weeks. Among the abundant species, Trichogramma sp. and Telenomus sp., which parasitize lepidopteran hosts, declined after spraying, and Trichogramma sp. recovered more quickly than Telenomus sp. Two other abundant species, Lymaenon litoralis and Oligosita sp., did not decline after spraying. In the sticky traps, wasp abundance increased at the vineyard edge but not center after spraying, suggesting that there was migration of wasps at the vineyard edge, into or out of the crop. The results indicate an effect of Indoxacarb on the parasitoid wasp community, particularly on parasitoids of lepidopterans, the target group of Indoxacarb. The results also indicate a potential for recovery of the parasitoid community through migration from neighboring natural vegetation.

Crocidolomia pavonana Fabr. (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) is a major pest on various cabbage crops in Indonesia. Various insecticides have been used to control this insect pest including several entomopathogenic fungi, and this cabbage caterpillar has become resistant to various insecticides. In order to develop insecticides from entomopathogenic fungi, species or varieties from natural area such as forest are needed. A bioassays of Cordyceps sp. and Beauveria bassiana has been carried out in the laboratory. Inoculum of Cordyceps sp. obtained from the Dipterocarpaceae forest in South Kalimantan, Indonesia recovered from dead ants by the mycelium of Cordyceps sp. Four concentration of Cordyceps sp. and Beauveria bassiana inoculum and tween80 as a control were tested against 3rd instar larvae of C. pavonana with five replications. Field efficacy trial was carried out in a screen house (8 x 12 M2) using Chinese cabbage plants (Brassica juncea) aged 28 days after sowing, with a spacing of 0.4 M between rows. Three formulation of Cordyceps sp. and tween80 as a control were used with 6 replications. The result of the bioassays in the laboratory showed that Cordyceps sp. with concentration of 1 x 107 conidia mL-1 was able to give 100% mortality od C. pavonana larvae, while B. bassiana with the same concentration caused morality of C. pavonana larvae of 98.33%, although statistically not significantly different. The results of probit analysis also showed that LC90 Cordyceps sp. against cabbage caterpillar larvae was 1.57 x 106 conidia mL-1, while B. bassiana required a concentration of 2.6 x 106 conidia mL-1 to reach the LC90 value. The results of filed trial showed that the formulation of Cordyceps sp. 1 x 107 conidia mL-1 using palm oil cooking oil was able to give an average mortality of 86.7%, and significantly higher (P<0.05) than the other treatment. The results of this study indicate that the inoculum of Cordyceps sp. from Dipterocarpaceae forest is very promising to be developed as an insecticide to control C. pavonana in cabbage

Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, tourist destinations have been increasingly selected on the basis of health, safety and social distancing criteria. In this framework, protected natural areas represent ideal tourist destinations due to the presence of wide and open spaces, services for tourists and attention to nature. The present paper focused on accessible tourism, a subset of sustainable tourism that is increasingly gaining greater importance within the tourism sector. By applying the Contingent Valuation Method, the study investigated whether potential tourists are effectively willing to pay extra money to be granted more accessible facilities in a natural area. To this end, a logit model was estimated to determine the probability that tourists exhibit a higher WTP for accessible tourism facilities. The analysis was carried out in the Gargano National Park, Southern Italy, an area traditionally characterised by large tourist flows that have increased further during the recent pandemic. The results showed that only a limited percentage of the respondents are willing to pay a higher amount for improved accessibility. These results represent an interesting starting point to outline an adequate strategy for the tourism valorisation of the natural area.

Exploitation works at the North Pesteana Quarry is located in areas with mineral energy resources, and contributes to ensuring the country’s energy security, based on an efficient system of supply of primary resources, production, transport, distribution and supply, to ensure food of all consumers in terms of accessibility, availability and affordability of prices, taking into account the evolution of the quality of the environment. The exploitation surface is isolated from the protected area Jiu Corridor ROSCI0045 through the neighborhoods from the eastern limit-the regularization channel of the river Jiu and the villages Balteni, Peșteana Jiu, Cocoreni, Olari and the neighborhoods from the western limit - the villages Valea cu Apa, Pesteana de Jos, Hotaroasa, Urdari. Lignite mining works do not affect the integrity of the protected natural area; by carrying out the works, the artificial barriers between the natural and the anthropic terrain are not created. The paper presents the results of the research undertaken in 2019 through the technical expertise in File no. 14666/3/2017*, Archive of the Bucharest Tribunal [1]. Measures are proposed to prevent, reduce and, where possible, offset significant adverse effects on the environment, including: measures for the protection of water quality, air quality, protection against noise and vibration, in the field of soil and subsoil quality, biodiversity and measures for the rehabilitation of the land for its subsequent use, etc.

O Baixo São Francisco está em constante dinâmica hidroambiental resultante das alterações promovidas na calha do rio, representadas pelos processos geomorfológicos ou por ações antrópicas como a construção das barragens que por sua vez provocou mudanças geomorfológicas resultando na aceleração de processos erosivos nas suas margens. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a implantação de técnicas de recuperação hidroambiental com uso de bioengenharia de solos na margem do rio São Francisco. A área estudada compreende um trecho do baixo curso do rio São Francisco, localizado no município de Amparo do São Francisco, no estado de Sergipe, nordeste do Brasil, onde técnica de bioengenharia de solos, como enrocamento vegetado, foi implementada no ano de 2011. Três grupos de indicadores individuais foram selecionados que juntos contribuíram para a avaliação da Recuperação da Área Degradada relacionados à qualidade do solo, como resistência do solo à penetração e Velocidade de Infiltração Básica, à recuperação da biodiversidade como banco de sementes e a regeneração natural da área por meio de indicadores como composição e cobertura linear de espécies. A metodologia empregada contempla uma avaliação dos resultados originados do uso da biotécnica a partir da identificação da contribuição da vegetação que auxilia na contenção de taludes, uma vez que a cobertura vegetal protege a superfície do solo contra ações erosivas como o vento e a água da chuva. O reforço mecânico trazido pelo sistema radicular das plantas contra cisalhamento do solo se mostrou pela menor resistência à penetração do solo e maior Taxa de infiltração.     Evaluation of efficiency of the implementation of soil bioengineering techniqueA B S T R A C TThe Lower São Francisco is in constant hydro-environmental dynamics resulting from the changes promoted in the river channel, represented by geomorphological processes or by anthropic actions such as the construction of dams that in turn caused geomorphological changes resulting in the acceleration of erosive processes on its banks. The objective of this work was to evaluate the implementation of hydroenvironmental recovery techniques using soil bioengineering on the bank of the São Francisco River. The studied area comprises a stretch of the low course of the São Francisco River, located in the municipality of Amparo do São Francisco, in the state of Sergipe, northeastearn Brazil, where soil bioengineering technique, such as vegetated rockfill, was implemented in 2011. Three groups of individual indicators were selected that together contributed to the assessment of Degraded Area Recovery related to soil quality, such as soil resistance to penetration and Basic Infiltration Speed, to the recovery of biodiversity as a seed bank and the natural area regeneration through indicators such as composition and linear species coverage. The employed methodology includes an evaluation of the results from the use of biotechnology based on the identification of the vegetation contribution that helps to contain slopes, since the vegetation cover protects the soil surface against erosive actions such as wind and rainwater. The mechanical reinforcement brought by the root system against soil shear was shown by the lower resistance to soil penetration and a higher infiltration rate.Keywords: Degraded Areas Recovery, erosion, São Francisco River

This paper confirms the presence of steppe polecat Mustela eversmanii in Giurgiu County after more than 50 years. Mustela eversmanii is considered a vulnerable species, being listed in Annexes II and IV of the Habitats Directive. The specimen was found within the Site of Community Importance - ROSCI0043 Comana, included in the Natura 2000 network, which significantly overlaps with the protected natural area (Comana Natural Park). Currently, the steppe polecat is not added to the list of the Standard Form, because its presence was uncertain. We consider that this discovery is valuable and has important implications for the conservation of the species.

Abstract The success of restoration projects depends upon the genetic diversity of the implanted species. It is a limiting factor, often because the seed sources are immersed in highly fragmented landscapes. This work was carried out to compare the genetic diversities of the juveniles and the adult trees of Schinus terebinthifolia Raddi in a mixed reforestation area, both in the restoration process and in the remaining natural area in the Atlantic Forest. Through five SSR primers, it was observed that the implanted population showed a greater genetic diversity index (He) (0.553 adults and 0.505 juveniles) when compared to the wild population (0.487 adults and 0.483 juveniles). It indicated that the forested area was established with individuals of high genetic diversity. There was a reduction of genetic diversity, with the loss of exclusive alleles and maintenance of inbreeding and coancestry in the juveniles of the reforested population. It can be inferred that there was a low gene flow among the fragments. The effective population size in both populations (adults and juveniles) was lower than that recommended for conserving populations in the short and long terms. These results have shown that continuous monitoring of this particular area is of absolute necessity and for applying techniques that can promote the connectivity of the fragments. It would allow for a more significant reduction of genetic drift and the persistence of the planted populations.

The Ulyanovsk region is rich in water natural monuments, and the Yulovsky pond is one of the oldest. At the same time, there is no generally accepted methodology for conducting environmental monitoring for protected water bodies. We propose one of the options for the methodology for assessing the anthropogenic load on protected water bodies in order to optimize the protection regime of these territories. Key words: Yulovsky pond, ecological monitoring, specially protected natural area, chemical analysis of water, analysis of vegetation.
