The present study was conducted in the Plum orchard zone of district Peshawar. The study was aimed to investigate the levels of different micronutrients in the orchard soil and crop in corresponding to non-orchards. For this purpose, samples of soil and seasonal crop (wheat crop) were collected from both orchard and non-orchard fields. The collected samples were analyzed for various metals such as Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Cd, Cr, Ni and Co through Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The results showed that in orchard soils, mean concentrations of Mn (486.9 mg/Kg), Cu (81.66 mg/Kg), Cd (2.21 mg/Kg), Cr (54.2 mg/Kg) and Ni (27.9 mg/Kg) were observed above their allowable limits. Similarly, in orchard wheat crops, a higher accumulation of Fe (416.1 mg/Kg), Cu (18.6 mg/Kg), Cr (1.5 mg/Kg) and Cd (0.63 mg/Kg) was calculated in the wheat grain/seed part. In non-orchards, all metals were found at safe levels. Analysis of the irrigation water revealed higher limits of Mn (0.06 mg/L), Fe (1.94 mg/L), Cd (1.29 mg/L), Cr (3.14 mg/L) and Ni (1.23 mg/L). Geo-accumulation Index showed a moderate and heavy level of contamination in orchard soils (Igeo. <1, 2). Higher uptakes of Mn (0.81) and Cu (0.87) were calculated in wheat crops of orchards through Transfer Factor (TF). Based on the observations, it is concluded that metals enrichment in orchard fields can be attributed due to excessive applications of fungicide sprays, fertilizers and contaminated water sources that introduce trace-elements into the soil and are subsequently absorbed by plants. Therefore, it is considered important to take appropriate measures to monitor the soils, crops and water for different micronutrients.

Phytoremediation is one of the methods to remove various types of pollutants from water and soil using plants. Salvinia molesta, an aquatic plant, is chosen in this study to determine its ability to degrade diesel as the pollutant in synthetic wastewater with different diesel concentrations (0, 8,700, 17,400, and 26,100 mg/L) for 14 days. Total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) has been used as an indicator to represent diesel concentration variation in wastewater. Degradation of TPH was 85.1% for diesel concentration of 8,700 mg/L, compared with only 53.9% in the corresponding control without plant. While, acute toxicity on S. molesta exposed in diesel concentrations of 17,400 and 26,100 mg/L was observed and eventually had caused the plants to die after 14 days of exposure. Additionally, throughout the phytotoxicity test, the biomass of S. molesta was found to fluctuate confirming inhibition on plant to survive with diesel contaminated water compared with the corresponding control without contaminant. Based on the results obtained it is suggested to decrease diesel concentration less than 8,700 mg/L in future study due to insolubility of diesel in water and the toxicity to the aquatic plants

SummaryThe effect of inhalation of sea water mists of four different intensities (10, 20, 30 and 40 1 m−2 min−1) from a firefighting sprinkler system was investigated in seven volunteer subjects. Measurements of transfer factor taken before and after exposure to the sprays showed no consistent changes. Those changes that were evident were more pronounced following exposure to the less intense sprays, but it was considered that these were attributable to diesel oil contamination on that occasion. The effects of aspiration of diesel contaminated water and the diurnal variation in transfer factor are discussed.

Water is the most important requirement for all organisms, either to humans, plants, animals, and microorganisms. It was caused water function in the growth and survival organisms. Aquaculture is an activity to maintain, raise, and/or breeding fish and harvest their products in a controlled environment. Cultivation was done in a sustainable manner for the benefit.Pollution in water can be caused death of fish is heavy metal cadmium (Cd) pollution. Processing of heavy metal contaminated water is the most simple and low cost is a biological treatment with kariba weed (Salvinia molesta). But the effect of kariba weed to the decline of heavy metal cadmium is not significantly reduced, so that needs to be combined with the zeolite so that the heavy metal cadmium decline more significantly. This reseacrh to determine the effect of the combination kariba weed (Salvinia molesta) and zeolite to the decline of the heavy metal cadmium (Cd). This reseacrh uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments performed five repetitions, treatment A using 0 g kariba weed and 150 g of zeolite, Treatment B using 50 g kariba weed and 100 g of zeolite, Treatment C using 100 g kariba weed and 50 g of zeolite and treatment D using 150 g kariba weed and 0 g zeolite. The result on this research analize by  ANOVA statistical test (Analisis  of  Variance) to know there was the different between treatments, afterwards, continued by space doubled test Duncan. The result showed combination kariba weed (Salvinia molesta) and zeolite significant effect on decreasing the concentration of heavy metal cadmium (Cd) (F count > F Tabel 0.05). It is evident in this research, and only had one week treated water cadmium (Cd) of 1 ppm concentrations is fall. The averages treatment on decreasing concentration heavy metal cadmium (Cd) was treatment A 98,7%, tretment B 97,1%, treatment C 97,2 % and treatment D 95,8%.

Adsorption is most commonly applied process for the removal of pollutants such as dyes and heavy metals ions from wastewater. The present work talks about preparing graphenic material attached sand grains called graphene sand composite (GSC) by using ordinary sugar as a carbon source. Physical morphology and chemical composition of GSC was examined by using (FTIR, SEM, EDAX and XRD). Efficiency of GSC in the adsorption of organic dyes from water was investigated using reactive green dye with different parameters such as (ph, temperature, contact time and dose). Adsorption isotherm was also studied and the results showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of dye is 28.98 mg/g. This fast, low-cost process can be used to manufacture commercial filters to treat contaminated water using appropriate engineering designs.
