Anchorites and their texts, such as Ancrene Wisse, have recently undergone a reevaluation based on material circumstances, not just theological import. The articles here address a variety of anchoritic or anchoritic-adjacent texts, encompassing guidance literature, hagiographies, miracle narratives, medical discourse, and mystic prose, and spanning in date from the eighth through the fourteenth centuries. Exploring reclusion and materiality, the collection addresses a series of overlapping themes, including the importance of touch, the limits of religious authority, and the role of the senses. Objects, metaphorical and real, embodied and spiritual, populate the pages. These categories are permeable, with flexible and porous boundaries, demonstrating the conflation of ideas, concepts, and manifestations in medieval materiality. In fact, the permeability of these categories demonstrates how materiality can reshape our approach to medieval texts. It leaves room for directions for future study, including the application of material analysis to previously unstudied objects, spaces, and literary artifacts.

Background: This study sought to explore the relationship between semantic competence (or dyscompetence) displayed during “think-alouds” performed by resident and attending physicians and clinical reasoning performance. Methods: Internal medicine resident physicians and practicing internists participated in think-alouds performed after watching videos of typical presentations of common diseases in internal medicine. The think-alouds were evaluated for the presence of semantic competence and dyscompetence and these results were correlated with clinical reasoning performance. Results: We found that the length of think-aloud was negatively correlated with clinical reasoning performance. Beyond this finding, however, we did not find any other significant correlations between semantic competence or dyscompetence and clinical reasoning performance. Conclusions: While this study did not produce the previously hypothesized findings of correlation between semantic competence and clinical reasoning performance, we discuss the possible implications and areas of future study regarding the relationship between semantic competency and clinical reasoning performance.

This chapter is aimed to draw attention to the integrated understanding of an individual with intellectual disability. It is very well known that intellectual disability is described as significant inefficiency in cognitive skills like learning, reasoning, problem solving, and in adaptive behavior, but this is not all when the individual is considered as a whole. This is where emotional intelligence comes in to help the individual cope with the cognitive disability. This chapter will discuss emotional intelligence in people with intellectual disability and how understanding of this will lead to better management plans for individual with intellectual disability, which will in turn lead to better empowerment. Further, this chapter will discuss the research gaps in this area and future study scope.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is no longer a legal obligation but discretionary aimed at fulfilling the needs of stakeholders. The failed leadership in Africa has made discretionary CSR initiatives very important in the life of employees and local community. The chapter reports a micro-level study that considered the effect of CSR initiatives directed to employees and local communities on employee organizational identification (OID) and employee creativity (ECR). The results obtained show that CSR directed to employees has both direct and indirect relationships with ECR through OID, while CSR directed at local community has only indirect relationship with ECR through OID. The results position CSR initiatives as strategic to the performance of business instead of just being philanthropic. This means that managers must take special interest in developing and implementing CSR initiatives since their outcome has an effect on employee behavior. The study also demonstrates the need to factor the importance of each CSR initiatives directed at various stakeholders in future study.

The objective of the study is to find out how to use three phase technique with vocabulary quiz as a pre activity to improve students’ reading performance, specifically, their reading motivation and comprehension achievement. This was a classroom action research and there were two cycles in this study. The result displayed the procedures of using three phase technique with vocabulary quiz as a pre activity was effective to improve students’ reading performance. The procedures, which covers four main phases: the vocabulary quiz, the pre, whilst and post reading activities, had fulfilled the criteria of success in this study. This fact was clearly shown by the increase of students’ reading motivation as indicated by their learning orientation in reading class. They were at least externally imposed to the rules that they accepted as norms to follow so as not to feel guilty. Their attitudes and behaviors toward reading class were good enough as expected by the teacher. The students’ reading comprehension achievement was also improved to 66.73 as their average score of reading comprehension test had gained the minimal passing grade expected by the school curriculum that was 65. Furthermore, it is possible that the procedures of this reasearch can get better result for the future study if they are applied more deliberately and more effectively.

Fibrocytes are hematopoietic-derived cells that directly contribute to tissue fibrosis by producing collagen following injury, during disease, and with aging. The lack of a fibrocyte-specific marker has led to the use of multiple strategies for identifying these cells in vivo. This review will detail how past studies were performed, report their findings, and discuss their strengths and limitations. The motivation is to identify opportunities for further investigation and promote the adoption of best practices during future study design.

ABSTRACTThe decision to follow Jesus as The Lord and The Savior should be final for every believer. There can be many challenges in the life of Jesus’s followers and this is called the process of life. The process of life can occur in family, work, mate, future, study and environment. Every believer is expected to overcome in the face of all challenges and always follow Jesus. But in reality, many Christians who claim to have accepted Jesus and be faithful in worship, and are even involved in various ministry, suddenly decide to deny Jesus Christ and become apostates and are no longer part of Christians, and eventually convert to other beliefs. Apostasy occurs because of some aspects that are not fundamental in life. This is a special concern, so that every believer can keep a firm faith in his/her accompaniment to Jesus Christ. This writing uses a descriptive method research based on relevant literature, and supported by biblical studies of Letters to Hebrew 3:12. The goal here is that trough this article: First, every believer fully understands that following Jesus must be faithful to the end of life. Second, he/she clearly understands what apostasy means and not do it. Third, the church can teach about why one shall be serious in following Jesus, so that apostasies do not occur much among Christian believers. The findings here include understanding the meaning of conversion word (“apostate”), and a few messages for believers on how to maintain a strong life in Jesus Christ.

This article aims to summarize existing research on various sources of uncertainty and to classify them based on the determinants and antecedents addressed in projects. A systematic review is conducted using a total of 140 research published in peer-reviewed scientific journals during the last three decades. We classify various uncertainty based on their individual, relational, group, organizational, project-oriented, and managerial characteristics. Additionally, we uncovered a few gaps such as, how uncertainties differ based on the size of the organization, the need for exploring uncertainty from a more cross-disciplinary perspective, differentiating the concept of complexity and risk with uncertainty and the role of chaos theory, that require future study. By leveraging significant findings, this is study contributes from the perspective of theory and practice to academic, project, and industrial management discipline.

In canine and feline patients presenting in a state of hemodynamic collapse, obtaining vascular access can be challenging. Delays in achieving vascular access interfere with delivery of patient care. In human medicine, definitions of difficult vascular access are variable and include the need for multiple placement attempts or involvement of specialized teams and equipment. Incidence and risk factors for difficult vascular access have not been well studied in veterinary patients, which limits understanding of how best to address this issue. Alternatives to percutaneous peripheral or central intravenous catheterization in dogs and cats include venous cutdowns, umbilical access in newborns, corpus cavernosum access in males, ultrasound-guided catheterization, and intraosseous catheterization. In recent years, advances in ultrasonography and intraosseous access techniques have made these more accessible to veterinary practitioners. These vascular access techniques are reviewed here, along with advantages, limitations, and areas for future study of each technique.
