Modern primary education, especially mathematics, requires constant innovation of teaching practice in order to modernize, rationalize, and efficiently the teaching process. Teaching mathematics should be experienced as a process that promotes learning with understanding, stimulates motivation, active learning, research, critical thinking, analysis, problem solving, drawing conclusions, exchange of experiences. The tendency to improve the quality of mathematics education has resulted in many studies pointing to the benefits of research-based mathematics (IN) teaching, known as inquiry-based learning (IBL), recognized as an essential way of organizing the teaching process to develop key competencies, abilities and skills in 21st century. Тhe aim of this paper is to see, based on a comprehensive theoretical analysis and the results of previous research. The created model of teaching mathematics based on research represents a useful framework for improving the quality of the process of teaching and learning mathematics, and empowers teachers in its application and affirmation, gaining insight into the way of organizing research learning.

This study was carried out to investigate the perceptions of teaching and learning Mathematics by the pre-service Mathematics teachers in Bhutan. The research has employed quantitative methods. A five-point Likert scale survey questionnaire was administered to collect the data. The participants included both male and female pre-service Mathematics teachers from 2 colleges of education in Bhutan aged 18-29 (N = 261). In order to examine the perceptions of Mathematics, the mean interpretation developed by Roble and Bacabac (2016) was used and found that perceptions of pre-service teachers teaching and learning Mathematics were high indicating they enjoy teaching and learning Mathematics. The analysis also showed that there was no significant difference between male and female pre-service teachers perceptions toward teaching and learning Mathematics in Bhutan. Further, the findings also indicated there was no significant difference in perceptions of teaching and learning Mathematics between pre-service teachers at College A and College B. The College of Education might consider devoting additional attention to improving teaching practices in order to experience the real classroom scenario.

E-learning as one of the benefits of the internet is very supportive for teaching and learning process. Therefore, the mastery ability of e-learning teacher become the key word in e-learning activity in education. The use of computers for the e-learning process using moodle and geogebra in learning mathematics plays an important role as a medium to create effective and efficient learning for teachers in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Godean, SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Godean, SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Minggir, SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Minggir, SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Mlati. The existence of e-learning will facilitate teachers and students in receiving mathematics lessons and also enhance the quality of teaching and learning. The accompaniment of the implementation of IbM training using e-learning using moodle combined with geogebra was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Godean and resulted in e-learning learning media. The mentoring also resulted in an understanding with the principal that the training could be continued for other subjects.

The course of mathematics becomes even more crucial for students of economics and business since its application is inevitable in many other courses of the curricula and practice as well. The instructor is required to raise the awareness of students and encourage them to develop mathematics study routine. Thus, the quality of teaching and learning mathematics is of major challenge for instructors, since a number of students face with mathematics learning difficulties. Thereby the purpose of this research is to examine the students’ attitudes towards mathematics and to identify the reasons that influence the learning obscurity by providing a feedback from the students from three universities from North Macedonia. The research methodology consists on a quantitative research strategy. The survey was conducted through a structured self completion questionnaire using a systematic sampling technique.

This research was conducted for the purpose of getting a clear and complete
picture conserning the quality of teaching and learning process through eveloping and implementing jigsaw type cooparative learning model for subject of Thermodynamics. The quality of teaching and learning process can be viewed by positive response of university students towards thermodynamics subject using the implemented jigsaw type cooparative learning model. The subject of this research were students of high school class X, semester II in the academic year of 2011/2012, which were listed as learning tools needed for thermodynamics of jigsaw type cooparative learning model. The learning tool which were being developed consist of teaching materials, learning plan, and student worksheet. The research prosedure consisted of developing the tools of teaching and learning process, and the followed by realization of learning in class using the jigsaw type cooparative learning approach. The research instruments were to be observation sheet and student response questionaire towards the learning process. The reseach data were analyzed using percentage statistic. Based on the refection result towards the action which was planned beforehand and also the researh result discussion, it was found that the learning process of hermodynamics which was done by implementing the jigsaw type cooparative learning model can increase student activity in his study. Implementing the jigsaw type cooperative learning can increase the learning result of students. Most of the students who partisipated in the thermodynamics class agree and give a positive apreciation towards the implementation of cooperative learning model. They believe that with the learning group can help them overcoming the learning deterrent.

AbstractMathematics is fundamental for many professions, especially science, technology, and engineering. Yet, mathematics is often perceived as difficult and many students leave disciplines in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as a result, closing doors to scientific, engineering, and technological careers. In this editorial, we argue that how mathematics is traditionally viewed as “given” or “fixed” for students’ expected acquisition alienates many students and needs to be problematized. We propose an alternative approach to changes in mathematics education and show how the alternative also applies to STEM education.
