The influence of body perception and stress on the rising trend of obesity among working women was studied. Body perception, food frequency, stress and anthropometric parameters and body fat were assessed in female teachers aged 30-59 years from five colleges of Jalandhar, Punjab. Body satisfaction perceived as lesser concern with body shape was positively and significantly (p?0.01) correlated with BMI, body weight, waist circumference and body fat. Body dissatisfaction in terms of higher concern with body shape was significantly correlated with lesser consumption frequency of traditional sweets (p?0.05). Body satisfaction was found to be significantly (p?0.01) correlated with uncontrolled eating and emotional eating. Stress level showed a positive and significant (p?0.01) correlation with the consumption of traditional savoury snacks, western fast food and higher frequency of eating out. The stress level was also significantly (p?0.05) correlated with emotional eating. The study concluded that adiposity, eating behaviours and food choices were influenced by stress and a lesser concern about body shape among working women.

Assess level of stress among working and non-working women residing in selected areas in a view to develop an information booklet. Objectives: 1. To assess level of stress among working women. 2. To assess level of stress among non-working women. 3. To compare the level of stress among working and non-working women. Material and Methods: The research approach adopted in this study is Evaluatory approach. Non-experimental descriptive comparative research design was used. The sample were selected by non-probability convenient sampling technique sample size was 120 (60working women and 60 non-working women). Results: 1. 85% of the working women had severe stress (score 18-25) and 15% of them had moderate stress (Score 26-33). 2. 35% of the non-working women had severe stress (score 18-25) and 65% of them had moderate stress (Score 26-33). 3. Average stress score in employed women was 22.5 which was 26.2 in unemployed women. Z-value for this test was 7.8 with 118 degrees of freedom. Corresponding p-value was small (less than 0.05), the null hypothesis is rejected. The stress level among working is significantly more than that in non-working women. Conclusion: The stress level among working is significantly more than that in non-working women.

The paper outlines the optimization of wet cylinder liner designs for high thermal loads, with special reference to medium speed diesel engine applications in the bore range 180–500 mm (∼ 7–20 in). It is shown that a flake graphite nickel–copper–molybdenum alloyed cast iron with a well developed vanadium matrix combines the best properties for liner manufacture. For quality control reasons, centrifugal castings are often preferred, although the resultant graphite form is unfavourable for thermal stress resistance. Consequently, recourse to plain steels is sometimes required, leading naturally to the adoption of chromed finishes for wear and corrosion resistance. For a given thermal rating, the thermal stresses can be reduced by a judicious choice of air–fuel ratio, but a limiting value exists beyond which the thermal stresses remain unaffected. Reductions in stress level are also possible by optimizing the wall thickness and coolant flow. This leads inevitably to thin sections susceptible to distortion under firing and impact loads, thus impairing both the strength of the component and its wear properties. A planned degree of restraint can be adopted to control both distortion and stress level; such measures are not always conducive to economic design and serviceability, and may actually degrade the reliability when applied to steel liners. The surrounding structure can have a first order effect on the stress levels in the liner; these manifest themselves as applied loads to the liner supports or flange. The design details are thus important, and the influence of parameters such as bolting load, location of sealing spigot and block deflection are discussed in relation to the evolution of successful designs. Any structurally sound design must be capable of operating for periods of 20 000 h or more without excessive wear. It is shown that the wear process is essentially exponential; the factors affecting its absolute value are discussed, and attempts made to quantify their contribution.

The effects of some of the factors which influence fatigue strength of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) filled cast nylon (type 6) gears such as diametral pitch, pressure angle, pitch line velocity, stress level, and lubrication were investigated. It was found that nylon gears, when properly designed and installed, are subject to minimal wear. Premature failures do occur through tooth interference caused by thermal expansion, tooth deflection and creep of the material. The importance of a proper backlash is discussed. Design capacities of nylon gears using formula and tables are presented.

AbstractWomen's involvement in economic activities should be recognized, although in reality there are differences between men and women in work activities. Working women can help the husband in supporting the family economy, the role of working women is needed especially in terms of helping to increase family income. Factors affecting women's involvement in the labor market are: external factors, internal factors, employment factors and economic needs fulfillment factors that enable women to work in the public sector. The research objectives are: 1) To know the general condition of women selling fish in Tumumpa Dua Village, Tuminting Sub-district, Manado City, and 2) To describe how the role of women selling fish in increasing income. The research method used descriptive method with the base of case study research with data retrieval method using purposive sampling method. The results showed that the role of women in the family fish seller is very important. Although the time spent on selling fish is only 2 hours - 3 hours but it is very influential in increasing family income.

The Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) mechanism has been pursued as a means to provide incentives for achieving conservation goals while also promoting rural development by alleviating poverty. However, the degree to which these goals are met depends on the implementation of the programs, which depends on the desirability and accessibility of programs targeting rural communities. Understanding the factors motivating or dissuading PES is vital for successful implementation. This paper evaluated the determinants of locals’ preference for PES implementation in the Begnas Lake Watershed. We interviewed 180 residents representing upstream and downstream. Factors such as income, the distance between house and lake, knowledge about PES, education, and duration of living in the area significantly determined locals’ attitude towards PES implementation. Their decision to take a stake in the PES program, if implemented, was influenced by income, family size, the distance between house and lake, education, and knowledge about PES. The majority of the household prefer community forestry as an institution and indirect payment as a compensation mechanism. The study suggests that the implementation of PES can contribute to uplifting the livelihood of local communities and conservation of Begnas lake watershed. The study further recommends the involvement of multi-stakeholders for ground-level awareness.
