World Health Organization (WHO) defines accident as an unexpected and an unintended event causing physical and mental injures. Children being less aware of danger are more vulnerable to accidents are one of the five leading causes of death in developing countries yearly. Accidents are main cause of death among children aged between 1-5 years old. As children are explorative in nature a number of accidents occur in this age group. Aims of the study: To assess the knowledge of mothers regarding prevention of home accidents and to find association between the knowledge score of mothers and selected demographic variables. Methodology: A descriptive study approach was adopted and structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of mothers. Convenience sampling technique was used to select the 50 samples from the selected community at Mangalore. The results and Conclusion: Majority (36%) of the mothers belonged to the age group 25-31 years. Half (50%) of the samples are belonged to Muslim community, 60% of the samples were from nuclear family, most (36%) of the samples were having one under five child. Majority 34% had pre-university and 30% had secondary school education. Majority (84 %) of the respondents had moderately adequate knowledge, only few (4 %) had inadequate knowledge and only 12% had adequate knowledge on prevention of home accidents. The maximum score of knowledge score was about 19, range 16, mean 10.54, standard deviation ± 4.20 and the mean percentage was 13. The computed chi-square value chi-square value computed between the level of knowledge and selected demographic variables i.e. age (22=1.093) Religion (22=2.155), Type of family (22=2.614), number of children below 5 years of age (22=.398) educational status (23=1.840) of the mothers and whether the child met with any type of accidents (21=.368) not significant at 0.05 level of significance. Thus, it can be interpreted that there is no significant association between knowledge of mothers of under five children and selected variables. Knowledge of mothers regarding prevention of home accidents was moderately adequate. Under five home accidents are common in India and it is necessary to take adequate precautions to prevent it. Educating mothers is the best way to prevent under five accidents at home.

Evangelist Billy Graham.Dining together each night my father- in -law converses with us on how he was born and brought up by his parents long back. having his mother alive all hail and hearty, an old lady of 100 makes him recall his childhood each time he sees her. he flips back on how his father gave him valuable advices on lessons of life, and continues to walks on the principals that his father has imbibed on him as a young boy and he carries a strong impression of his fathers teachings, he expects that the coming generation should live a life as they then lived. childhood in itself is a sweet memory for each one of us, we all have our own bunch of memories to share. childhood is even the most correct time to mould a raw person into a fine personality. living in the 21st century world, things have seemed to be changing a lot. parenting, raising children has become a far more different aspect. since parenting is also an ethical and moral issue, perspective may vary according to the culture and civilization for different people belonging to different set ups. as health personals we too come across many cases that arise merely due to maladjustments or psychological impairments that many a times lead to serious psychiatric problems. the third important thing is that parenting as a complete process and according to the changing time parenting is not the same as it used to be in the past. in the previous years we have been undergoing tremendous technological advancement which in terms is a boon for us. our lifestyles have heavily changed, we no more live in an joined family, we all are working parents and our outlook for a settled life has changed the world around us. we all live in the a world that is modernly civilized. leaving our civilization far behind. raising kids in this advanced world is a challenge indeed. since technology has brought curses as well as boons to our lives. we need to balance them both. things may be difficult but not impossible.

Assess level of stress among working and non-working women residing in selected areas in a view to develop an information booklet. Objectives: 1. To assess level of stress among working women. 2. To assess level of stress among non-working women. 3. To compare the level of stress among working and non-working women. Material and Methods: The research approach adopted in this study is Evaluatory approach. Non-experimental descriptive comparative research design was used. The sample were selected by non-probability convenient sampling technique sample size was 120 (60working women and 60 non-working women). Results: 1. 85% of the working women had severe stress (score 18-25) and 15% of them had moderate stress (Score 26-33). 2. 35% of the non-working women had severe stress (score 18-25) and 65% of them had moderate stress (Score 26-33). 3. Average stress score in employed women was 22.5 which was 26.2 in unemployed women. Z-value for this test was 7.8 with 118 degrees of freedom. Corresponding p-value was small (less than 0.05), the null hypothesis is rejected. The stress level among working is significantly more than that in non-working women. Conclusion: The stress level among working is significantly more than that in non-working women.

Children are the worlds precious resources and the best hope for future. During clinical experiences, observation and rapport with mothers, investigators assess many children show difference in sleep patterns and irritated with daily life. The present study was aimed to assess the parental perception on sleep habit of children in the paediatric ward. Objectives: assess the parental perception on sleep habit among children and to find relationship between sleep habit and selected socio demographic variables. Methodology: Quantitative experimental approach was used with descriptive design. The data were collected from 50 children by using random sampling technique. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result and interpretation: The findings of the study had shown that majority of subjects 24(48%) of the children belongs to age group of 2 to 3 years, 27(54%) were females, 25(50) of children were moderately nourished.39(78%) of children has a meal pattern of more than one hour before sleep, 60% like outdoor play, 35(70%) does not need toys for sleep. Majority of the parents 22(44%) belongs to 26-30 age group, 25(50%) belongs to females, 17(34%) were graduates, 40(80%) were healthy. we found that there is a relationship between clinical data variables such as nutritional status(p=0.041) with sleep habit of children. By using parental perception questionnaire, we found that parents have good perception on sleep habit among children as out of 50 samples 35(70%) secure good score, 14 (28%) secure satisfactory score and only 1(2%) secure poor score.

Nursing training is a combination of both theoretical and practical learning experiences that enable nursing students to acquire the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor components for providing nursing care. World Health Day, an annual event organized by WHO, stated that this year is focused on supporting nurses and midwives, many of whom are serving on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response. Globally, COVID-19 has huge impact on academic delivery and adds a further degree of complexity to nursing education due to temporary lock down because most countries have suspended face-to-face teaching/physical class room teaching. Thus, they had to find new alternatives to academic delivery, and virtual classes/on-line mode were the ways forward. In present search, it has attempted to explore the impact of covid-19, challenges and opportunities in nursing education which influences the different aspects of academic activity. It has accelerate the academic delivery by using variety of online platforms and learning management system such as Google class room, Google meet, Google hangout, Zoom meetings, Microsoft team, Cisco webex meeting, go to webinar, you tube streaming, Google duo, college website, social media platforms such as face book groups, whatsApp, telegram etc. Covid-19 has provided a lot challenges and opportunities to learner, educator, university, organization, and evaluation system and research activities. The lesson learned from covid-19 is converting those challenges into opportunities by learning and adopting with advanced technology in teaching-learning; blended learning; team work; promoting for trans/ inter/ multidisciplinary collaborative education; integrating innovative method of teaching, sharing and facilitating right kind of information, are enhancing ways of quality of education during crisis (lock down) situation and further new-normal situation.

A descriptive study to assess the Mental Health Literacy among the Nursing students (18-20 years of) in the selected college at Puducherry. The objectives of the study was to assess the mental health literacy among the Nursing students. The research approach selected for the study was quantitative research approach and descriptive research design. The study was conducted at MTPG&RIHS at Puducherry. Total 100 B.Sc. Nursing Students who completed the subject mental health nursing were selected based on Non-probability convenient sampling. The researcher used standardized tool, Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS) data collection. The findings of the study revealed that 82% of samples had moderate level of knowledge on Mental Health Literacy, 18% of samples had adequate knowledge about Mental Health Literacy and none of the samples had inadequate knowledge regarding Mental Health Literacy. Regarding knowledge, out of 100 samples, 82% of subjects are belongs to moderate knowledge about Mental Health Literacy and Mental illness. Remaining 18% had adequate knowledge about Mental Health Literacy and Mental Illness none of the samples had inadequate knowledge about the Mental Health Literacy and Mental Illness.

Background: Breastfeeding is one of the most important determinants of child survival, birth spacing, and prevention of childhood infections. The importance of exclusive breastfeeding and the immunological and nutritional values of breast milk has been demonstrated. Materials and Methods: A quantitative approach and non-experimental descriptive design was adopted. The study was conducted on 60 postnatal mothers admitted at NRI General Hospital using convenient sampling technique. Data were collected structured knowledge questionnaire and obtained data were analysed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Regarding the breastfeeding self-efficacy among post-natal mothers, 23.3% mothers had low confidence, 33.3% mothers had moderate confidence, 43.3% mothers had high confidence. Conclusion: The findings revealed that the improve the breast feeding self-efficacy of postnatal Mother’s.

For years mothers had been doing a full time job of upbringing their children and addressing their basic needs. However, the present scenario is such that it is not feasible to make a living with just one person’s earnings. Hence, women set out to support their family and the children are taken care of by the secondary caregivers. A number of research studies have revealed that the majority of children suffer from mild to moderate behavioural problems during the early developmental stages. Keeping these changing patterns in mind, the researcher conducted a comparative study at Race Course, Dehradun to assess the behavioural problems of children among working and non-working mothers. The main objectives of the study were to assess the Behavioural problems of children among working and non-working mothers and compare the Behavioural problems of children between working and non-working mothers. Data was collected from 60 working and 60 non-working mothers with the help of non-probability purposive sampling techniques. A structured Child Behaviour Assessment Scale was developed to collect the data from the mothers of children aged 4-12 years. Reliability of the tool was found to be 0.7. The study results revealed that 60% of working mothers reported Borderline Behaviour in their children. Abnormal behaviour consisting of hyperactivity, bad habits and social problems etc. were reported by 15% of working mothers. Children among non-working mothers reported higher levels of anxiety, and conduct problems. Significant association was found between Behavioural problems of children among working mothers and type of family, number of children, age of the child, and gender of the child. Behavioural problems in childhood may lead to limited functional capabilities in children and more serious problems in adulthood. Nurses can play a major role in diminishing Behavioral problems by providing guidance and counselling for the children and their mothers. The focus should be on addressing the emotional needs of the children during the early stages of development.

Despite incredible improvement in health since 1950, there are still a number of challenges, cardiovascular disease remains among the leading causes of death of world wide. Hypertension is very common condition under cardiovascular diseases1. Blood pressure is a measurement of the force against the wall of the arteries as the heart pumps blood through your body. The normal level of blood pressure is 120/80 mmHg, where 120 represents the systolic measurement and 80 represents the diastolic measurement2.

Introduction: Human milk is the only recommended and complete food for newborn. The benefits of breast feeding are incalculable. It is the unique food for the healthy growth and development of infants. Positioning of the baby is very important while feeding. Correct positioning is crucial for effective breast feeding. This Study was undertaken to compare the breastfeeding self-efficacy among postnatal mother with cradle and football position. Methodology: A quasi experimental post-test only design was adopted to study the breastfeeding self-efficacy among postnatal mothers with cradle and football position. 87 postnatal mothers were enrolled on the first postnatal day using convenience sampling. The subjects were assisted in feeding their newborns in cradle hold position during morning feeds and to adopt football position during nursing in the afternoon time. This pattern of feeding was continued for three days and breastfeeding self-efficacy was assessed on the third day for both positions using breastfeeding self-efficacy scale. Data obtained were analyzed using SPSS Version 20. Result: The mean and median for breastfeeding self-efficacy for cradle position were 54.69 ±4.61and 56 respectively which were found higher than the mean (31.69±3.29) and median (31) for football position. The difference observed in the breastfeeding self-efficacy was found statistically significant (p<0.001) Conclusion: Cradle hold position was found to be effective in terms of breastfeeding self efficacy as compared to football position.
