Spare parts is one of the production support components which plays an important role for the survival<br />of gas production in the gas processing facility owned by SKN JOB Pertamina Talisman Jambi Merang. The<br />high inventory level increased the high inventory cost for the industry which get the benefit from the efficiency<br />of processes and resources. This research involved consumable spare parts for Solar Turbine engine as much<br />as 25 SKUs with demand character patterned lumpy demand and Poisson distribution. The implementation<br />of policies using Periodic Review (R, s, S) with Power Approximation approach in the inventory system<br />capable to generate a lower total cost inventory by pressing the backorder volume, the booking volume and the<br />inventory levels in a balanced manner. Calculation of Periodic Review (R, s, S) with Power Approximation<br />approach resulted inventory parameter which was able to press the total cost of inventory at 8.54% lower and<br />increase the service level by 1.11%.

Magnetoelastic tests of 30KH13 (30X13) steel were carried out under cyclic loadings. The article focuses on the property of magnetoelastic power relaxation of remanent magnetization. With the load amplitude increasing, complexes of power approximation coefficients reflect typical mechanical loads at various tempering temperatures.

It seems that there are people who are prepared to accept what the numerical analyst would regard as a shockingly poor approximation to F (x, t), the distribution function of aggregate claims in the interval of time (o, t), provided it can be quickly produced on a desk or pocket computer with the use of standard statistical tables. The so-called NP (Normal Power) approximation has acquired an undeserved reputation for accuracy among the various possibilities and we propose to show why it should be abandoned in favour of a simple gamma function approximation.Discounting encomiums on the NP method such as Bühlmann's (1974): “Everybody known to me who has worked with it has been surprised by its unexpectedly good accuracy”, we believe there are only three sources of original published material on the approximation, namely Kauppi et al (1969), Pesonen (1969) and Berger (1972). Only the last two authors calculated values of F(x, t) by the NP method and compared them with “true” four or five decimal values obtained by inverting the characteristic function of F(x, t) on an electronic computer.

We study matched pair designs with two binary endpoints under three different approaches. Power approximation and sample size calculation are derived under these situations and facilitated by R programs. An adaptive design with sample size re-estimation is also presented. Through extensive simulations, we provide general guidelines for practitioners to choose the best approach according to the ranges of the interested parameters in the sense of feasibility and robustness. Application to a cancer chemotherapy trial is illustrated.
