The study aimed at enhancing the understanding of SHS students in chemical formulae and nomenclature using locally constructed conceptual models. It was carried out in Offinso and Atebubu Colleges of Education. The research instrument used was pretest and protest on an experimental and control group with 200 students as sample size. Developmental research design with cluster and purposive sampling techniques were employed. Five research questions were formulated out of which four were modified into null hypothesis and was tested using 2-tailed t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The research results have showed that the use of conceptual models enhanced the understanding of Teacher-trainees in chemical formulae and nomenclature. Additionally, it was found out that the conceptual models had no influence on gender or cognitive capability. This emphasized that conceptual models should be used to assist the teaching and learning of chemical formulae and nomenclature.

Present generation learners are growing up with digitalization. Educators are increasingly understanding and adapting new methods of teaching laced with digitalization. YouTube, an important off shoot of digitalization, is leading the charge as the most multipurpose medium for content transactions in the classroom and outside the classroom. It not only provides digital entertainment but also provides a great environment for learning. YouTube has multiple  advantages for teacher educators and teacher trainees. Teacher educators and teacher trainees search YouTube for any information or clarification on a topic. Using YouTube in the classroom can bring efficiency in teaching and learning. Considering its endless services, there is no surprise that Youtube has been ranked the highest as a preferred learning tool. The teacher educators and teacher trainees can follow the prescribed procedures for creating and uploading effective videos on YouTube. Teacher educators can use YouTube in their class with all precautions and well planning.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the extent of effective time management practices of the teacher-trainees in the Colleges of Education in Ghana. Methodology: The population of the study comprised teacher-trainees (students) of the Public Colleges of Education in the Volta Region of Ghana. Two Colleges were chosen in the region based on convenience sampling technique. In all, a total of 336 participants completed the study survey questionnaire. Statistical data analysis was carried out using the Jamovi Statistical Data Analysis (JSDA) tool and the Microsoft Excel Application package. The instrument was pilot-tested on thirty students.  The Cronbach’s Alpha (α) reliability analysis measures were computed. The returned α values obtained on the constructs include 0.95, 0.97 and 0.98, and with the overall α as 0.91. Findings: The findings revealed that the existence of time management strategies to check students’ time consciousness is of low rate in the Colleges. The respondents’ average rate of 60.5% totally disagreed on the items tested revealing strong indications of the Colleges low considerations of the awareness creation on effective time management strategies. On the students’ level of time management practices in the Colleges, the findings revealed a total frequency of about 52.8%, hardly or never adhere to time management practices as individuals. With this, the overall mean value of approximately 1.67 was calculated indicating the trainees’ low level of attainment on effective time management practices. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy This study recommends that the authorities of the Colleges of Education should develop successful time management strategies in the Colleges to assist teacher-trainees in developing good time management habits

The researcher carried out the study to find out, “How teaching strategies that teachers employ in the secondary schools raise students’ level of motivation to learn effectively.” The research explored the relationship between teaching strategies used and motivation affecting the effective teaching-learning process in our schools.  Researcher was guided by epistemological assumption and anchored on a social constructivist worldview. Being a novice researcher I employed a qualitative approach with the use of phenomenology as research design. This choice has facilitated the researcher to gain hands-on experiences of the participants in the field. For data collection researchers employed interview (semi-structured) and observation as research tools involving two schools for the study. Researchers invited six teachers (all male) and eight students (4 boys and 4 girls) as the research samples. The data collected from the field was presented, thoroughly discussed and critically analyzed. The study revealed that our existing system of teaching lacks the blend of motivation in the teaching strategies utilized, resulting in minimal learning to our students due to lack of motivation. One of the main recommendations is there is a need for the ministry to look into the possibility of offering courses on motivation compulsorily to all the teacher trainees in the two Colleges of Education.

The guidance needs of a particular student or group of students are likely to differ and evolve based on different variables. However, information on the influence of certain demographic variables on the guidance needs of teacher trainees at the Colleges of Education level in Ghana seems to be unavailable. Our purpose in this study was to investigate whether the guidance needs of teacher trainees in the Colleges of Education in Ghana varied based on their sex, age, marital status and the college in which they were enrolled. The study employed a survey research design in which data were collected with the help of a questionnaire from a total of 401 2nd-year teacher trainees (256 males and 145 females). Data were analysed using means, standard deviations, independent samples t-test and Kruskal–Wallis H test. The results showed that the guidance needs of teacher trainees in Colleges of Education in the Volta Region vary based on the trainees’ sex, age, marital status and college. It was recommended that college counsellors should take into account the demographic variables of sex, age, marital status and college when designing and implementing guidance programmes in Colleges of Education.   Keywords: Counselling, guidance, guidance needs, guidance needs assessment, teacher trainees

The study involved 543 teacher trainees and 33 tutors. The reliability of the questionnaire was determined using Cronbach’s alpha (α). For the teacher trainee questionnaire, α = .738. For the tutor questionnaire, α = .886. The results from the study showed that a little more than half (51.7%) of the respondents said that their tutors call the introvert trainee to answer questions while 48 (8.8%) of the minority of the respondents said that tutors do nothing to teacher trainees who are introvert. It is recommended that tutors should engage trainees in activities that will encourage more discourse.
