An integrated management system refers to the application of several different international standards, and it contributes to efficient and effective organizational management. The Quality Standards were first developed at the end of the twentieth century; however, due to social, political and many other reasons, the The International Organization for Standardization has also developed standards related to occupational health and safety, environmental protection, information security, risk management, energy efficiency, etc. Since all of these standards are process-oriented, there is an emerging need to simplify their implementation. Similarly, valid versions of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards identical in structure have been adopted in the last five years, which facilitated their integrated implementation and application. This paper describes a concept of integrated management system through a standardized safety management system. Key words: ISO standards, management, safety, integration

The experience of implementing an integrated management system at the enterprise for the production of flour confectionery products is considered. ISO 9001 is chosen to improve the efficiency of management processes and the quality of the company's products. The requirements of the standard allow on the basis of the implemented quality management system to create and implement an integrated management system (ISM) of the enterprise, adapted to the requirements of international standards ISO 9001:2015, HACCP, ISO 22000:2005, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018. Additive model is chosen for integration of enterprise management systems. The PDCA cycle was applied to all processes as a basis for integration. According to the results of the diagnostic audit, the risks of the enterprise are determined: product safety, accidents and injuries, the danger of excessive emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere, the formation of solid waste. A plan of activities to eliminate possible risks has been drawn up. Based on the risk analysis, critical control points (CCP) for semi-finished and finished products are determined. Management of CCP is carried out by means of control over deliveries of raw materials and laboratory tests of its quality, tracking of parameters of production process at the stage of preparation of glaze, guarantee conditions of storage of finished goods (temperature, terms of realization) and supervision of sanitary processing of warehouse, carrying out scheduled preventive repair of the production equipment. Introduction of ISM will provide to the confectionery enterprise a guarantee of quality of products and stability of development of production.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the barriers and challenges faced by chemical industries in Malaysia causing to the low participation in Responsible Care program. Also, this paper aims to propose a solution to address the issues in implementing Responsible Care by introducing a Simplified and Integrated Management System for Responsible Care. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire was distributed to 132 Responsible Care signatory companies in Malaysia, and they were given a week to return it via e-mail. Combining the inputs from the survey and document analysis, a Simplified and Integrated Management System for Responsible Care (SIMS-RC) was proposed. Findings Responsible Care signatory companies faced barriers in implementing product stewardship code and they also faced challenges in getting employees’ commitment from all levels. Taking the inputs received from Responsible Care signatory companies and document analysis, an SIMS-RC was proposed as a closed-loop process which consists of quality, environmental, health and safety management system. Research limitations/implications Some of the chemical companies were unable to share their thoughts in the survey due to the companies’ confidential reason. Originality/value Abundant literature has discussed about the limitation of Responsible Care that needs to be improved. Therefore, several elements and procedures of the program need to be revised and innovated to help the signatory companies to continuously improve their performances and encourage more participation in Responsible Care program. The findings will add value to the current body of knowledge and Responsible Care signatory companies which seek to improve Responsible Care implementation through an integrated management system approach. The proposed SIMS-RC is a simple, integrated, holistic and process-oriented management system in which it blends Responsible Care into quality, environmental, health and safety management system.

Modern tendencies in food industry development (including meat products processing) are connected with compulsory advance and improvement in production techniques as well as implementation of effective management systems which stem from the integrated approach to risk management. The development and implementation of the systems which would guarantee required and stable safety of products for consumers are very important as well as their quality. For that reason it is essential to develop the models of integrated management system which will be based on the quality management system (QMS) and food safety management system standards. The authors performed comparative analysis of the requirements of the integrated standards. As a result of the analysis and expert evaluation they determined ten areas of integration, developed the matrix of requirements for the elements of the integrated system. The authors studied the risks, gave scientific evidence concerning the occurrence of potential hazards, determined unacceptable risks, pointed out critical control points and developed food safety management system plan for management in these points. They also determined the regularities in the influence of the quality loop stages on the quality and safety parameters, identified and structured the processes using IDEF0 function modeling methodology, made the blocks of graphs that show the interaction of processes determining the directions of information and product flows and reflecting the interaction of processes. The authors developed an integrated system model and determined the information requirements for its functioning. They used the procedure of the system performance assessment in a company using self-assessment criteria. The authors showed the advantages of the implementation and improvement of the integrated system in the company located in Saransk, the Republic of Mordovia.

Integrated Management System (IMS) based audit can assist the internal and external auditor to conduct an audit effectively and efficiently while checking compliance of Food Safety Management System and Halal Assurance System in the food industry. Corned beef is a product categorized as critical both in terms of halal and food safety. Implementing a food safety management system and halal assurance in corned beef industries is a challenge for producers and external auditors from inspection agencies. Based on the requirements equality approach, an Integrated Management System can be developed, referring to ISO 22000 : 2018 and HAS 23000. This research aims to combine the requirements of ISO 22000 : 2018 and HAS 23000 to be used for audit activity, as well as formulating recommendations for the corned beef producers in both requirements based on a new version of ISO 22000 : 2018. According to the analysis of requirements equality on each requirement objective, there are 14 of 30 sub-clauses of ISO 22000 : 2018 that can be integrated with 9 HAS criteria. There are 2 HAS criteria that cannot be integrated with sub clauses of ISO 22000 : 2018, namely criteria number 4 material and 5 product. When the IMS clauses are used in audit to one of corned beef company, the percentage of compliance with the IMS requirements is 90.6% in PT XYZ. The nonconformities related to ISO 22000 : 2018 found on a new clause that has not existed in the previous version ISO 22000: 2005. This gap creates some recommendations for PT XYZ. However, IMS based audit makes the audit for halal and food safety compliance be more effective that can combine checking of food safety and halal in one audit. Furthermore, IMS based audit makes the audit be more time efficient, by reducing the mandays.

The systematic assurance of the occupational health, safety and wellbeing of the employees may be accomplished through the implementation (and certification) of standardized occupational health and safety management systems in accordance with the requirements listed in the BS OHSAS 18001 standard. In Portugal the certification of occupational health and safety management systems is usually carried out against the requirements of the BS OHSAS 18001 and the NP 4397 standard which is a national adaptation of the former. The purpose of this paper is to "snapshot" the diffusion of the certified occupational health and safety management systems in Portugal dissecting the following features: regional geographic location, integration phenomenon, evolution throughout the years, more involved activity sectors, more often found integrated management systems typologies and the most relevant and active certification bodies. To address this research goal a thorough, in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the data available in a Portuguese periodical publication (Barómetro da Certificação) was carried out. Results show that a great deal of the certified occupational health and safety management systems (96.3%) is integrated (in the sense that encompasses a multiple certification scheme). However the occupational health and safety management system is not typically the primordial subsystem of an integrated management system. In our view these results provide insights to the companies' top management. On one hand, it seems that a patterned and "logical" path is pursued by the companies that seek organizational excellence- management systems integration. On the other hand, it seems that previously implemented subsystems, such as the quality management system, facilitate a "smoother" integration process encompassing the occupational health and safety management system.

Samuel Daniels led a five-year campaign to embed a healthy and safety culture in a National Gas Transmission Company in India. He took the challenge of establishing a safety culture in the company, which was dominated by a bureaucratic mindset. Although the company had a safety management policy based on ISO-certified integrated management system, the standard operating procedures, work procedures, guidelines, and formats were confined to mere documents, and any new change invited resistance from leadership. Samuel initiated several changes but could not sustain the gain. Lack of openness, trust, sharing, two-way communication, and participative leadership has systematically killed all the efforts to effectively manage safety. OCD strategy such as conducting a “cultural audit” to understand strategy, structure, systems, style, staff, skills, and shared values of the company; improved teamwork and cooperation; effective communication; and greater consultation, flexibility, work innovation at individual and group level have been suggested.
