This chapter examines Russian officials’ debates and policies regarding Koreans in the Maritime Province from 1880 to the 1920s. It sees these policies as part of a broader project to revise the practice of plural jurisdiction, in which the empire ruled its vast territories and peoples through a flexible legal regime. Amidst a growing wave of nativist sentiment, officials aimed to standardize the privileges respectively held by subjects and foreigners and to institutionalize borders. In the Russian Far East, suspicions about the interference of the Korean, Chinese, and Japanese governments led officials to categorize the resident Korean population as subjects and aliens, experiment with policies to ban the settlement of Koreans in the border region, institute border and passport laws, and discuss the benefits and dangers of continued Asian migration to Russia. The chapter further explores how Koreans subverted these laws and policies to their own ends.

A new species, Tekellina yoshidai sp. n., is described based on the holotype female from the Maritime Province of Russia. It is the first record of the genus in Russia and the northernmost record in the entire range. The new species is most similar to T. sadamotoi Yoshida & Ogata, 2016 from Japan. Figures are provided for both species. The male palp of T. sadamotoi was studied with a SEM. It was found that palpal sclerites in T. sadamotoi and other Tekellina species are incorrectly homologized. Judging from the structure of the male palp and the female palpal claw, Tekellina seems to be misplaced in Theridiidae and belongs elsewhere.

Attracting foreign capital entails the use of foreign labor. External labor resources have been one of the factors in the development of agriculture in the Far Eastern regions over the past 20 years. Attraction of foreign labor and investment in the agriculture of the regions has ambiguous consequences for the development of these regions. The current situation in the spring of 2020, associated with the closure of the borders of the Russian Federation, revealed the role of the Chinese factor for the regions of the Russian Far East. The peculiarities of attracting Chinese workers to the agriculture of the Russian regions are well traced in the example of the Jewish Autonomous Region, which is located on the border with Heilongjiang Province (PRC). The peculiarities of the region's geographical location influenced the formation of stable Russian-Chinese relations in agriculture. The paper examines the processes of Russian-Chinese interaction in agriculture on the example of the Jewish Autonomous Region. The change in the role of Chinese citizens in the development of agriculture and rural areas of the border region of the Russian Far East is shown. Two periods of Russian-Chinese interaction in agriculture of the Jewish Autonomous Region are highlighted and characterized. The first period (early 2000s - late 2000s) is characterized by a decrease in the area of arable land in the region, attracting cheaper Chinese migrants by local and Chinese agricultural producers. The second period of 2010-2020, this time, a system of lending to local farmers by Chinese partners for the future harvest, an increase in the area of arable land, an increase in the yuan exchange rate led to a higher level of wages of Chinese workers. Chinese farmers are hiring local people. It is concluded that the peculiarity of the development of agriculture with the participation of the Chinese factor in the Russian Far East is that the Chinese were present and are present as investors, producers, workers, and farmers. In addition, most of the soybeans produced in the region are exported to China.

Cybaeota Chamberlin & Ivie, 1933, a genus previously known only in the Nearctic, has been found in the Maritime Province of Russia for the first time. It is represented by a new species, C. wesolowskae sp. nov. (♂♀), which is close to the generotype, C. calcarata (Emerton, 1911). Additionally, a new species, Phrurolithus lindemanni sp. nov. (♀), is described from the Maritime Province as well. It has unusually light colouration in comparison to other congeners. Trans-Pacific disjunctive ranges on species, genus and family levels in arthropods are briefly discussed.

Objectives. Our aim is to assess the level of tax debt of regions of the Russian Far East and identify the correlation between the factors and the amount of tax debt. Methods. The study rests on methods of analysis, generalization, grouping, systematization, and the correlation and regression analysis. Results. We analyzed the level of tax debt for the entire Far Eastern Federal District and by region, identified factors affecting the growth of tax debt therein. The paper assesses the structure of tax debt by type of taxes and activity of debtors. The unveiled factors may help control changes in the size of tax debt in the Russian Far East and develop effective measures to improve the debt collection. Conclusions. The paper summarizes information on chromosome numbers (CNs) of the Grass species (Poaceae) in the flora of Russian Federation, obtained on the original material, most part - from the Russian Far East (RFE). In some species the CNs are known in Russia or in the world only from RFE, in some – from one locality or few, or from one subregion of RFE. The grass species in RFE often occur in mountain regions and near seacoasts; some species are endemics, some were studied near the limits of their geographical distribution areas. The diversity of CNs, the special features of the CNs distribution in some grass groups are discussed. The alien species are abundant in RFE, and their CNs are also involved in the study. For karyologically polymorphous species further studies are needed.
