Epichloë endophytes have been shown to increase tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses in many cool-season grasses. We investigated the impact of endophyte infection of Festuca sinensis, on root metabolic activity, photosynthetic pigments, leaf relative water content (RWC) and soluble carbohydrates in a field experiment carried out during chilling and irrigation with Ca(NO3)2. A highly significant (P < 0.001) correlation for Epichloë endophytes was observed for root metabolic activity. Ca(NO3)2affectedverysignificantly root metabolic activity and total chlorophyll (P < 0.001). Low temperature led to highly significant (P < 0.001) reductions in root metabolic activity, RWC, total chlorophyll, chlorophyll a/b ratio, and carotenoid contents. In addition, the fructose concentrations of shoots were greater on the 14th day than on the 28th day and before treatment, whilst the glucose concentration of roots was much higher on the 28th day than before and after 14 days treatment. Moreover, our results indicated that the addition of calcium nitrate contributed to higher levels of total chlorophylls, soluble sugars, sucrose, fructose or glucose in the shoots and roots in both E+ and E- plants during long periods of chilling. These results suggest that Epichloë endophyte infection and/or exogenous calcium nitrate can confer better tolerance to cold stress.

The majority of old and long-to-root roses are enough frost resistant to grow on their own roots in moderate and coolclimates. The most often used method of rose propagation are single node stem cuttings derived from blooming shoots. Thelong duration of rhizogenesis exposes cuttings to stress conditions and precocious ageing processes, which result in a lowrooting percentage. It was hypothesized that in the short season of flowering the amount of nutrients in shoots of stock plantschanges, thus affecting the process of rhizogenesis, as well as a condition of rooted cuttings, which may be estimated by thecontents of the biologically active components. The shoots of four rose cultivars were cut in four phenological stages: flowerbuds closed, flowers opened, just after petal shedding and 7-14 days after petal fall. The rooting percentage were counted after10 weeks of rooting. The evaluation of plant material were carried out before and after rooting, including: soluble proteins, chlorophyll a and b, carotenoids, polyphenolic acids, reducing and total soluble carbohydrates. The research revealedvariability, characteristic for each examined cultivar, in the contents of the biologically active compounds, both before and afterrooting, in cuttings harvested from stock plants in successive phases of development. Decrease in pigment contents in leaves ofrooted cuttings may suggest a progressing senescence, both during propagation and later in a vegetative season. The cuttings of‘Mousseuse Rouge’ rooted similarly when harvested in each of the phenological phases (53.8-67.5%). For other cultivars thehighest rooting percentage was obtained for cuttings harvested from shoots with closed flower buds: (‘Hurdals’ 47.5%,‘Maiden’s Blush’ 55.0%, ‘Semiplena’ 67.5%). In these cultivars a relationship between rooting percentage and changes in thecontents of pigments, sugars or/and polyphenolic acids in successive phenological phases was shown.

Objective: The distribution, growth, development and productivity of wheat plants are greatly affected by various abiotic stresses such as lead (Pb) stress which become one of the most abundant toxic metal in the earth crust. Under the three applied polyamine (PAs) applications, the efficiency of wheat plants to tolerate Pb2+ stress in terms of growth and yield characteristics was noticed to varying degrees. Methods: The current study focused on the impact of 2.0 mM lead (Pb2+) on growth and performance of wheat plants before and after PAs applications. The sterilized seeds were soaked for 8 h at room temperature, either in distilled water (as a control), 0.25 mM spermine (Spm), 0.50 mM spermidine (Spd), or in 1.0 mM putrescine (Put). Results: Point out that, better growth and yield characteristics, chlorophyll “a” (Chl-a), chlorophyll “b” (Chl-b), soluble sugars, indoles, and enzymatic antioxidants (i.e., peroxidase (POX), catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, ascorbate oxidase, polyphenol oxidase, and glutathione reductase) and the enzyme α-amylase contents were obtained with seed soaking in 0.25 mM Spm, 0.50 mM Spd, or 1.0 mM Put than those generated with seed soaking in water under 2.0 mM Pb2+ stress. In contrast, the concentration of endogenous Pb2+ was significantly reduced. Conclusion: Among all tested PAs, 1.0 mM Put showed the best results and thus is recommended, as seed soaking, for wheat to grow well under Pb2+ stress.

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam which has a function of faith, social and economic functions. Muslims who can pay zakat are required to give at least 2.5 per cent of their wealth. The problem of poverty prevalent in disadvantaged regions because of the difficulty of access to information and communication led to a gap that is so high in wealth and resources. The instrument of zakat provides a paradigm in the achievement of equitable wealth distribution and healthy circulation. Zakat potentially offers a better life and improves the quality of human being. There is a human quality improvement not only in economic terms but also in spiritual terms such as improving religiousity. This study aims to examine the role of zakat to alleviate humanitarian issues in disadvantaged regions such as Sijunjung, one of zakat beneficiaries and impoverished areas in Indonesia. The researcher attempted a Cibest method to capture the impact of zakat beneficiaries before and after becoming a member of Zakat Community Development (ZCD) Program in material and spiritual value. The overall analysis shows that zakat has a positive impact on disadvantaged regions development and enhance the quality of life of the community. There is an improvement in the average of mustahik household incomes after becoming a member of ZCD Program. Cibest model demonstrates that material, spiritual, and absolute poverty index decreased by 10, 5, and 6 per cent. Meanwhile, the welfare index is increased by 21 per cent. These findings have significant implications for developing the quality of life in disadvantaged regions in Sijunjung. Therefore, zakat is one of the instruments to change the status of disadvantaged areas to be equivalent to other areas.

Abstract: This research aims to analyze the impact of Janti Flyover Construction toward the growth of layout at Janti Urban Area, including structured space, open space, and linkage. Method used for data collecting are observation, air photograph monitoring, and interview, whereas the analysis method is qualitative description, which is the superimposed method of two layers, that are the layout condition before and after flyover construction. The result shows that the impact of Janti Flyover construction can be seen on building mass (solid), the increasing number of open spaces, including the road network, parking place, and park, whereas the relation between spaces, visually and structurally, can be seen on the growth of buildings which have new shapes and styles, therefore the performance of the overall building does not have a proportional shape. Considering Janti Street at the collective relation, its role is getting stronger as the main frame road network. Keywords: Flyover construction, layout changing, Janti AreaAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pembangunan Jalan Layang Janti terhadap perkembangan tata ruang Kawasan Janti, meliputi ruang terbangun, ruang terbuka, serta hubungan antar ruang (“linkage”).
