Facial aesthetics plays a very important role in dentistry. Loss of teeth leads to the resorption of alveolar ridges, loss of support to the facial musculature resulting in diminished facial muscle tone, all of which lead to the slumping of the cheek. Authors here by present a case of a 59-year-old male patient who reported with the complaint of missing upper and lower teeth. Intraoral examination revealed completely edentulous maxillary and mandibular arches. Extraoral examination revealed sunken cheek and wrinkling of the skin. The patient was more concerned about his hollow cheek, so the treatment option advised for him was complete denture with detachable cheek plumpers. The technique used here precisely determines available space for cheek plumpers. But, despite of providing the maxillary cheek plumper, appearance of hollow cheek remained in lower third of face. So, the mandibular cheek plumper was also planned. This case report a novel, simple, straightforward, cost-effective and noninvasive technique of fabricating detachable cheek plumpers for maxillary and mandibular denture using customised ball attachment.

<p class="abstract">Labial ridge undercut is more commonly seen in maxilla than mandible in completely edentulous individuals and it possess a great threat to the final esthetic outcome. Construction of a labial flange in conventional manner might compromise the facial support and muscles of facial expression, limit function, and compromise aesthetics for a better prognosis, an unconventional approach is needed for the construction of complete denture. This case report describes an innovative, economical, nonsurgical treatment option for fabrication of complete denture in a patient with a prominent labial undercut to enhance the facial aesthetics of the patient.</p>

The aging process causes changes in the proportions of facial structures. Facial aesthetics influence the individual’s perception of himself, interfering in the personality, self-esteem, and social acceptance. A treatment option for patients seeking for face harmonizaton is profilebioplasty. In this case report, it is described an innovative, safe, and effective technique to improve facial pleasantness. It is a filling technique performed with materials compatible with the body’s tissues (hyaluronic acid), where the application of fillers in the nose (rhinomodelling), facial contour and the mentual region are associated. It can be performed at the outpatient clinic with low risk of complications.

Denture teeth and denture flange are two very important aspects of a complete denture. For aesthetic purpose while fabricating the complete denture prosthesis, restoring the labial fullness is a sensitive procedure. There are some clinical situations where the labial flange gives poor facial aesthetics. It is more occur in proclined maxillary anterior ridge or thick labial cortical plate with severe labial undercut. In this article we are presenting a case with thick labial cortical plates and severe labial undercut. So, we have modified the complete denture and delivered a prong (flangeless) denture to give more aesthetic appearance to the patient.

The prosthetic management of the patient with resorbed ridge has long been a major challenge for dentistry. Conventional complete denture for long was the standard of care for all such patients. However, most patients find it difficult to adapt to mandibular denture due to lack of retention and stability. Recent scientific studies carried out over the past decade have determined that the benefits of a mandibular two-implant overdenture are sufficient to propose the two-implant overdenture-rather than the conventional denture - as the first treatment option. BJHS 2018;3(2)6:488-491.

The goals of replacement of teeth with a complete denture are not limited to only providing the patient with the ability to chew food comfortably. Due to the increasing demands and consciousness of the patients regarding esthetics, prosthodontist must emphasize on not just the function but also overall appearance of the patients.  The loss of support of the facial musculature is of great concern in treating completely edentulous patients. Sunken cheeks are one of the major consequences of flaccid facial musculature. The incorporation of cheek plumpers in the dentures has improved the appearance of patients with such conditions. They are noninvasive and straightforward to fabricate. Various attachments may be used for this purpose depending upon the case present. This case report involves 2 cases with different techniques for the attachment of detachable cheek plumpers.

Complete denture can improve both function and aesthetics. Even though mastication is highly improved, one of the most common problems for new full upper acrylic denture wearers is lack of feeling sensations such as hot and cold, loss of taste and fracture in the mid palatal region. These patients require a denture that allows them to feel sensations as close to normal as possible. The present case report discusses an alternative way of designing a metal palate for maxillary complete denture that along with fulfilling the above mentioned functions, has specially designed loops incorporated in such manner and directions to improve mechanical interlocking of acrylic within the metal loops and not to interfere with teeth arrangement.

Background: Complete denture is a removable denture replacing all the missing teeth and tissue in the upper jaw and lower jaw. The purpose of making complete denture is to improve the function of chewing, aesthetic functions and maintaining patient's oral health. Complete edentulous ridge will causes resorption, until it become flat. A flat ridge is associated with difficulties in providing successful dentures. Purpose: This case report aims to reported the treatment of complete edentulous maxillary and mandibular with a flat ridge using semi-adjustable articulator. Case(s): A 63-year-old male patient visited the Prosthodontic Clinic of Dentistry Faculty, Airlangga University with complete edentulous maxillary and mandibular, also flat ridge in his mandibular.  Case Management: This case is using semi-adjustable articulator (Stratos 300). Some accessories in Stratos 300 were used in this case, such as centric tray to help determine the height of bite, gnathometer M to help the process of functional impression and bite block, also tooth arrangement with 2D templates. Conclusion: The use of semi-adjustable articulator (Stratos 300) could restore stomatognathic function in accordance with patient’s condition.

Complete edentulism for longer period of time and aging causes flaccid of facial musculature which leads to sunken cheeks and unpleasing appearance of face. In order to get a supplemental support for the drooping cheek muscles, fabrication of conventional complete denture with adjunct detachable cheek plumpers are simple, acceptable non-invasive and economical. Despite the discussion of various attachment used for cheek plumper in literature each have their own disadvantages. The present clinical report demonstrated the use of chairside available lingual sheath and stainless steel wire for the attachment of cheek plumpers to the maxillary complete denture.

Prosthetic rehabilitation in patients having prominent labial ridge with conventional complete denture is an uphill task. Severe labial ridge undercuts are commonly seen incompletely edentulous maxilla than in mandible. This may be attributed to the fact related to the proclined maxillary anteriors, indicated for extraction. Treatment approaches generally involve either a surgical or a non-surgical option. The non-surgical or the prosthetic option generally involves the fabrication of conventional complete denture, which may further compromise the esthetics due to excessive thickness of the labial flange. To challenge such situations, an unconventional approach is needed for fabricating a complete denture. This case report delineates a simple, economical, conservative and non-surgical treatment approach for fabrication of denture in a patient with excessive bulky maxillary ridge, to pronounce the final facial aesthetics of the patient.
