Various definitions have been proposed to describe Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). Broadly, MNT encompasses the provision of nutrition information and advice aimed to prevent, treat, and/or manage health conditions. In Canada, the provision of such information and advice is unregulated, thus allowing anyone to provide MNT services regardless of their education and training. This inevitably poses risks of harm such as the provision of unsafe and/or ineffective nutrition advice as well as delayed evidence-based treatment. Canadian research has further demonstrated that the general public is unable to properly differentiate between regulated, evidence-based nutrition providers (registered dietitians) and those who are unregulated. Therefore, the public is at risk. To reduce nutrition misinformation and ultimately improve the health and well-being of the public, the objective of this paper is, first, to propose a standardized definition of MNT for use across Canada and, second, to propose province- and territory-specific legislative amendments for the regulation of MNT throughout the country. We also present an opposing perspective to the proposed viewpoint. Ultimately, health care regulation across the country requires an overhaul before we expect that nutrition information and advice communicated to the public may be consistently evidence based.

Abstract The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural (well) integrity and environmental management for all offshore oil and gas operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Australian waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred. The Australian offshore petroleum industry has been in operation since the early 1960s and currently has approximately 57 platforms, 11 floating facilities, 3,500km of pipelines and 1000 wells in operation. Many offshore facilities are now approaching the end of their operational lives and it is estimated that over the next 50 years decommissioning of this infrastructure will cost more than US$40.5 billion. Decommissioning is a normal and inevitable stage in the lifetime of an offshore petroleum project that should be planned from the outset and matured throughout the life of operations. While only a few facilities have been decommissioned in Australian waters, most of Australia's offshore infrastructure is now more than 20 years old and entering a phase where they require extra attention and close maintenance prior to decommissioning. When the NOGA group of companies entered liquidation in 2020 and the Australian Government took control of decommissioning the Laminaria and Corallina field development it became evident that there were some fundamental gaps in relation to decommissioning in the Australian offshore petroleum industry. There are two key focus areas that require attention. Firstly, regulatory reform including policy change and modification to regulatory practice. Secondly, the development of visible and robust decommissioning plans by Industry titleholders. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance and benefit of adopting good practice when planning for decommissioning throughout the life cycle of a petroleum project. Whilst not insurmountable, the closing of these gaps will ensure that Australia is well placed to deal with the decommissioning challenge facing the industry in the next 50 years.

Viet Nam’s new National Financial Inclusion Strategy issued on 22 January 2020, sets out targets for promoting financial inclusion by 2025. Achieving these targets requires considerable support from the microfinance sector as well as other stakeholders in the finance sector. This paper emphasizes the need to prioritize regulatory reform for microfinance development. Otherwise, the microfinance sector in Viet Nam could remain nonprofit rather commercial—making it difficult for the sector to attract wholesale funding. Aside from helping achieve the National Financial Inclusion Strategy, regulatory reform in the microfinance sector can also enable Viet Nam to become more active, prominent, and competitive on a regional level along with its neighbors in Asia.

AbstractWe set up a two-region model to study the policy challenge of bringing the North’s income up to the level of the South in the UK. The model focuses on labour costs as the driver of output gains through the international competitiveness channel; and on tax/regulative costs to entrepreneurs as the driver of productivity growth. The empirical results show that the regional model behaviour fits the regional UK data behaviour over the period of 1986Q1 and 2019Q4, using the demanding Indirect Inference method. We also carry out a Monte Carlo power test, which shows the empirical results we obtain are trustworthy and can provide us a reliable guide for policy reform. The results suggest that in response to tax cuts and labour market reforms GDP in the North increases almost twice as much as GDP in the South. Given that a broad programme of tax cuts and regulatory reform would more than pay for itself in the long run, it must be considered as a highly attractive political agenda.

But more can be done to improve the resiliency of U.S. access to microelectronics beyond manufacturing incentives. This report outlines infrastructure investments and regulatory reforms that could make the United States a more attractive place to build new chipmaking capacity and ensure continued U.S. access to key inputs for semiconductor manufacturing.

Regulatory problems and the disharmony of laws and regulations in labor law in Indonesia have forced the government to reform the rules through the omnibus law which aims to reduce the unemployment rate in Indonesia. The concept of a state of law (rechtsstaat) adopted by the Indonesian state includes the protection of human rights as well as legal certainty and is based on the law. Economic development is very important for improving people's welfare. The purpose of this study is to analyze the regulation of the omnibus law of work copyright for local workers in foreign investment companies in Indonesia and the form of legal protection of the omnibus law of work copyright for workers. The type of research used is the type of normative law research with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The legal materials used are primary, secondary, and tertiary. The technique of collecting legal materials by analyzing and citing applicable laws and regulations from books, literature, and other sources. The results of the study reveal that the omnibus law concept is one of the breakthroughs to reorganize current regulations. To minimize the occurrence of disharmony and overlapping of existing laws and regulations, the omnibus law is a good plan for structuring regulations. The Indonesian people must formulate new policies that are able to make Indonesia compete with countries in the world to attract investment. These policies must be able to restore the wheels of the slumped Indonesian economy. Regulatory reform is expected to help ensure that laws and regulations in all areas of activity are fully responsive to changing economic, social and technological conditions that surround them.
