The aero-engine will produce fouling during operation, which will affect the engine performance. On-line cleaning can effectively remove fouling, in order to solve the problem of the poor cleaning effect for aero-engine on-wing cleaning and carry out numerical simulation of the on-line cleaning process. The discrete phase model is used to optimize the particle size and mass flow of the cleaning fluid. The erosion rate and vorticity of the droplets on the blade surface are used as the effect target to simulate and optimize the cleaning process parameters to obtain a better particle size range and the ratio of cleaning fluid to air mass flow. Through the evaluation of the cleaning process parameters of the aero-engine on-wing cleaning test and the analysis of the engine exhaust temperature margin (EGTM) data, it is concluded that the cleaning effect is improved by nearly 40%.

This work presents design and fabrication of efficient and economical ultrasonic utensil cleaning machine. Electrical energy is converted into Mechanical energy by transducer. Transducer vibrates with ultrasonic frequency supplied to it by the frequency producer. These vibrations produce cavitation bubbles in the solvent/water. The size of the bubbles is in micron range. The mass of the cavitation bubbles depend on the rate of recurrence of the transducer. These bubbles act as scrubber which scrub the surface of utensil thus removing the soils/dirt stick on it. The size of the bubble is so small it does not cause any damage to the surface of utensil. Higher the frequency, more homogeneous will be the cleaning. Rinsing is provided within the system which will make it more compact. To keep the contaminants away from the cleaned surface, sweep frequency is used. Rotation to the basket is given by the motor. This rotation helps to reduce the cycle time and also dry the surface of utensil by centrifugal action. So when the utensil is removed from the basket it is ready for use. By this technology cycle time will be reduced drastically. Without any human efforts it can clean the dirtiest stains from the oily utensils. All types of utensils can be cleaned whether it is ceramics, glass, copper, wood, aluminum, stainless steel, etc. This cleaning process is more hygienic and can clean more efficiently compared to conventional cleaning.

Scandium (Sc) applications in solid oxygen fuel cells, aeronautics and heat exchange systems are forecasted to increase significantly without a sufficient continuous Sc supply for Europe. ScaVanger is an EU project for upscaling Sc extraction and purification technologies from various TiO2 pigment production residues. High purity Sc2O3 and ScF3 will be produced at competitive prices for the EU market. The ScaVanger process is expected to result in a 10% higher production rate and higher product purity as processing starts with a unique cleaning process of actinides. The first plant at a major European TiO2 pigment production site will be supplying about 30 t/a of Sc2O3.

The pedestrian detection model has a high requirement on the quality of the dataset. Concerning this problem, this paper uses data cleaning technology to improve the quality of the dataset, so as to improve the performance of the pedestrian detection model. The dataset used in this paper is obtained from subway stations in Beijing and Nanjing. The data images’ quality is subject to motion blur, uneven illumination, and other noisy factors. Therefore, data cleaning is very important for this paper. The data cleaning process in this paper is divided into two parts: detection and correction. First, the whole dataset goes through blur detection, and the severely blurred images are filtered as the difficult samples. Then, the image is sent to DeblurGAN for deblur processing. 2D gamma function adaptive illumination correction algorithm is used to correct the subway pedestrian image. Then, the processed data is sent to the pedestrian detection model. Under different data cleaning datasets, through the analysis of the detection results, it is proved that the data cleaning process significantly improves the detection model’s performance.

Oil and Gas plants consist of a set of heat exchangers, which are used in recovering the waste heat from product streams to preheat the oil. The heat transfer coefficient of exchangers declines considerably during the operation period due to fouling. Fouling in heat exchangers is a complex phenomenon due to the acceleration of many layers of chemical substances across tubes of heat exchangers resulting from chemical reactions and surface roughness. In this paper, the fouling process was determined as a critical failure in the heat exchanger. Failure is an accelerated fouling layer across the heat exchanger tubes, which can be the reason for the clogging of tubes. Hence, a risk assessment was conducted using the Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) approach to estimate the probability of fouling in heat exchangers. The results showed that the RBI approach can be used successfully to predict the suitable time to shut down the plant and conduct the fouling cleaning process.

Abstract Industry swiftlets nest is not a new industry in Malaysia. It gets very high demand from China. Harvesting swiftlets nest is one of the processes to produce any products that made from swiftlets nest. Currently, they are using manual harvesting equipment to harvest swiftlets nest without using any auxiliary equipment. It is the first step in process flow and very important role before cleaning process. The objectives of this project are to design mechanism harvesting equipment to harvest swiftlets nest and to decrease the time of harvesting swiftlets nest process in a swiftlets house in a day. The methodology of research is including collect data, brainstorming, design concept generation, concept selection and simulation analysis. The design of harvesting equipment is using CAD software and analyze using FEA analysis. At the end of this project, this research will give understanding about design using CAD software and analysis that improved the harvesting equipment.
