This paper examines the short poems of Ezra Pound, a group of works that have long been the subject of academic discussion in the field of literary analysis. Although Ezra Pound is typically considered a Modernist poet, some clear elements of Victorianism can be discerned within his revolutionary forms of poetry. The paper will offer a historical and biographical background to Pound's work before moving on to an analysis and discussion of the poet's short poems. While previous studies of Ezra Pound's poetry have adopted various critical approaches, we believe that this is the first study that compares the influence of Modernism and Victorianism on the work of this important figure in English verse of the early twentieth century.

Doctorov gives an interview where issues are touched upon related to the development and achievements of a project on the history of Soviet/Russian sociology, a project which he has been curating for almost 20 years, as well as to a biographical study in the field of American sociology and the study of public opinion. Doctorov’s project deals with solving the theoretical, methodological and empirical issues of applying the biographical method in historical-sociological research. The author’s main methodological developments include the concept of Russian sociology’s rebirth, substantiation for generational-functional analysis, and the notion of a biographical quality to creative work in sociology, which includes the recently launched development of non-linear biographical analysis. The article discusses the author’s empirical research related to determining the generational structure of Russia’s sociological community, as well as the possibility of its study by means of in-depth interview via e-mail. It also examines the content and relevance of a collection of interviews with Russian sociologists (titled “Big portrait”), as well as an online-book titled “Biographical interviews with social scientist colleagues” (this one is interactive) and the nine-volume “Modern Russian sociology: historical-biographical pursuits”, all of which mention the main findings of B. Doctorov’s project.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the biographies of a number of representatives of the regional political elite, who in the period of 2018-2020 (mainly) due to incorrect, sometimes boorish statements and actions against citizens, became participants in public scandals. The authors focused on more than 80 biographies of leaders and employees of regional and municipal authorities. The structural and biographical analysis made it possible to determine to which generation this cohort of politicians belongs, the peculiarities of the spiritual and professional atmosphere of their socialization in the context of both their previous work and the time they came to power structures, geographical and regional aspects, as well as the educational level. The factors that determine the tendency of the modern regional elite to harsh neoliberal rhetoric provoking public outrage and scandals are highlighted. Within the framework of the regional cut of the scandalous mass-elite communication, the Volga-Ural region turned out to be predominant. The statements and activities of politicians / officials from the central and (especially) southern regions were the least likely to find themselves in the center of public scandals.

The article reveals a set of problems related to the forensic investigation of personality when using the method of biographical analysis. The range of problems involves methodo-logical, statistical, forensic, and psychological aspects. The subject of the research was a complex of biographical facts, bearing a possibility of interpretation of personal properties of their bearer. Regularities were revealed in relation to a personality of the person abusing his office. The study used the following general scientific methods: analysis, synthesis, system-structural. The following specific scientific methods were used in the study: modelling, statis-tical analysis, comparative-historical, expert assessment. The analysis was carried out by recording data on the defendants' employment activities related to the commission of the offence for which Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation establishes liability. Among the persons examined, military personnel made up the smallest percentage of defendants, while among public sector employees almost half were employed in the education sector. The article reached a number of conclusions as follows. The development of a criminalistic characteristic of the personality of a person who abuses his powers from the perspective of biographical analysis, it is advisable to begin with the identification of groups of biographical facts that have a pronounced correlation with the predisposition to commit crimes of this type. It is not an unconditional predisposition of persons to commit this type of crime if their biography contains, to a large extent, biographical facts that are interrelated with a predisposi-tion to abuse their position in office. It is necessary to speak about the existence of such a relationship, which has the potential to form tendencies, but at the same time, it is not absolute. The final conclusion is that the biographical analysis reveals a number of biographical facts that have a strong correlation with a predisposition to abuse of power. The information obtained will make it possible to know in advance, at the initial stage of the investigation, a number of typical personality traits of the defendant and to have an idea of other sources of information about him. The information obtained will also make it possible, when planning the investigation of the type of crime in question, to rely on the psychological characteristics already known about the personality of the accused, on the basis of which investigative tactics, such as questioning, confrontation, search, etc., can be developed.
