<p>What is Chicano Border Methodology? In my thesis I am answering this question by showing that this is a key part of my practice, and revisiting my past work and experiences to re-construct the development of this methodology. Chicano Border Methodology is a living methodology based on lived experience that is constantly in praxis, and not just theoretical. It is rooted in a knowledge space that is specific to a locality, La Frontera/US-Mexico border. I began to assemble the methodology using epistemological pluralism as the framework and modified this framework to produce a decolonising epistemological pluralism. Using the colonial matrix of power, this position questions the assumption of epistemic privilege of western knowledge production.  Using a personal narrative structure, I start the re-construction process by describing the beginnings of my decolonising process with the re-discovery of my Chicano identity. I then describe the knowledge space developed along La Frontera/US-Mexico Border and how it shows up in my art practice. Looking at the concepts of decolonisation process, practice-led research, performative research and Kaupapa Māori, I contrast and analyse the position of my Chicano Border Methodology, highlighting the differences that make my Chicano Border Methodology unique. I go on to describe and analyse how I applied this methodology to the production of The Illustrated Chicano, an art installation that looks at issues of place, home and immigration in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Illustrated Chicano, as a practical application of the Chicano Border Methodology, revealed that this methodology is robust and can be modified by Chicanos to match the specific needs of research areas, where a decolonising approach is required or beneficial to the outcome. I also explore how the community reacted to my installation built through the Chicano Border Methodology lens by documenting and analysing the community’s reaction to this work. I conclude with a discussion of the significance of local knowledge spaces, the value of different methodological models, and the flexibility of a decolonising epistemological pluralism framework, such as the Chicano Border Methodology.</p>

Abstract Selection of an optimal route within the intelligent approach provides for the possibility of applying soft models and computing in estimation of the trainee presence in the knowledge space. Among numerous ways of representation and processing of information of this type, the special place is held by those able to adapt to the maximal number of NO factors, characterizing the actual training situations, their measurable data and actual methods and ways of their processing that have ambiguities, uncertainties and incompleteness of the respective models and methods. In this paper, we suggest to extend the certain well-proven best practices in data analysis and transformation in the training environment information space to solving the actual training management problems. In addition, the paper demonstrates approaches to the use of Pareto-optimal approaches for fuzzy and underdetermined situations in actual training processes. Formally, this problem is solved with a fuzzy systemic graph. Variants of calculating procedures, allowing the use of the available apparatus of soft models and computing with the purpose to eliminate uncertainties when forming grounded decisions, are given. Methods and criteria of route options selection with regard of vaguely defined functional specification requirements have been developed pursuant to the study.

Unsolved methodological problems of creating a single digital knowledge space are considered. The methodology of information space intellectualization is presented as one of the priority trends of modern information development. The characteristics of the information infrastructure of the digital economy are defined: intellectual type of scientific knowledge storage, visibility. Actual theoretical problems that require operational solutions in the context of designing a single digital space of scientific knowledge are formulated. Solutions to the problems of selecting objects of information modeling and reflection, dialectics of individual and system objects in the structure of a single digital space of scientific knowledge, industry-specific and differentiated approaches to the design of a single digital space of scientific knowledge are proposed. Organizational models of the unified digital space of scientific knowledge are considered. The idea of a single digital space of scientific knowledge is considered through the prism of the experience of organizing inter-organizational projects in the Russian information market.

AbstractWikipedia, a paradigmatic example of online knowledge space is organized in a collaborative, bottom-up way with voluntary contributions, yet it maintains a level of reliability comparable to that of traditional encyclopedias. The lack of selected professional writers and editors makes the judgement about quality and trustworthiness of the articles a real challenge. Here we show that a self-consistent metrics for the network defined by the edit records captures well the character of editors’ activity and the articles’ level of complexity. Using our metrics, one can better identify the human-labeled high-quality articles, e.g., “featured” ones, and differentiate them from the popular and controversial articles. Furthermore, the dynamics of the editor-article system is also well captured by the metrics, revealing the evolutionary pathways of articles and diverse roles of editors. We demonstrate that the collective effort of the editors indeed drives to the direction of article improvement.
