Volcanology education is important for the development of geoscientists and scientifically literate citizens. We surveyed 55 volcanology instructors to determine their learning and teaching practices, perceptions of academic development, and educational support needs. Instructors reported using a wide range of practices and tools, but lectures, field experiences, maps, rock samples, academic literature, and inherited teaching materials are the most common. Instructors valued educational support from others (e.g., talking with colleagues and students, consulting with learning and teaching specialists) over conducting their own investigations. However, they did not report engaging in as many of these activities as they valued. Instructors requested more support in resource sharing and collation, conference workshops, and co-creation of resources and educational research. We suggest that instructors and academic development staff work together to share and build knowledge in the learning and teaching of volcanology in higher education, and to improve student learning outcomes.

African American transient housing dwellers are the studied population in this chapter. A noted section addresses transient students, also referred to as highly mobile students, which are a group that can benefit from additional educational support at school and also in the community. As communities of people are drawn together in faith and love, churches are distinctively positioned to fill in the gap for kids and their communities. By entering into a supportive partnership with a school, they can make the kind of difference that transforms a community. According to Fulgham, every school in low-income communities has a plethora of needs, and churches likely feel compelled to meet each of them. Fulgham went on to encourage churches to prioritize their support for programs and activities that help increase student achievement. This chapter provides findings from interviews conducted with adult transient housing dwellers and suggests methods to reach transient African American students during challenging times, specifically addressing their educational needs.

The tourism industry, including the hospitality industry, which were the first to suffer from the new coronavirus pandemic, found themselves in an unprecedented situation: complete cessation of some businesses due to border closures and self-isolation. For some countries tourism makes up one of the largest shares of GDP and is a key industry, for others, tourism and activities associated with international travel significantly accelerate the pace of economic development. Industry actors need to understand what incentive tools are available now and in the aftermath of the pandemic in order to develop a systematic approach to managing the effects of the pandemic. The purpose of the article is to study and structure incentive measures for the tourism industry in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The following methods of scientific knowledge has been used: abstraction, analysis, induction, synthesis. The article substantiates the relevance of the study. Some indicators of the functioning of domestic tourism during a pandemic are considered in comparison with previous periods, in particular, price indices for various types of paid services to the population, the development of collective accommodation facilities in Russia. At the same time, there is a decline in all indicators during the pandemic, which is due to forced quarantine restrictions and the closure of borders in most countries of the world. The most popular measures of state support proposed by the government for the tourism sector are the following: support in obtaining financing, tax incentives, subsidizing operating expenses, subsidies for SMEs (minimum wages), deferral of non-tax payments, consulting and educational support, deferrals and incentives for rent payments, provision of grants and subsidies on a competition, etc. The proposed measures to support tourism in the current environment are new personnel training, assistance in developing a strategy, business development, attracting tourists, assistance in the transition to online, facilitation of activities (tax, financial, regulatory exemptions).

Although the origins of school museums and museums of children and childhood do not coincide directly, they nevertheless have moved into the same direction during the past decades. Especially because children are an important part of the visitors, a lot is invested by these museums in educational support and activities. Pedagogical arguments form the backbone of their mission statements. A bit against the tide of this trend, I want to pay attention here to the often exaggerated educational aspirations. To my mind the boundary between “education” and “educationalisation” is a fragile one and can be easily exceeded if the cultural-historical context of the museum content is ignored too much. Educating young people does not necessarily mean taking them by the hand and leading them through well-developed work packages, but is related to the more complex process of Bildung – the formation of a person, which usually starts, in view of attitudes and behaviour, by reflection about self-identity as well as societal values and norms. In my opinion the encounter with well-chosen artefacts of former pedagogical mentalities and realities in museums of education, children and childhood, can be helpful in this respect. Therefore, my plea for more culture-historical contemplation and less educational strategy in representing education, children and childhood is not to be understood as phasing efforts in this sector. On the contrary, the shift of emphasis from the neoliberal focus on efficiency, management, and social relevance (also in terms of a possible instrumentalization) of educational history towards more scientific, cultural-historical underpinning will need continuous support.

During the school closure in the COVID-19 pandemic, students with special needs including gifted students faced many challenges in terms of educational support. The Turkish Ministry of National Education released a mobile app named “I am special, I am in education” to overcome these challenges. This study aimed to explore how gifted children perceived the experience of learning through this mobile app. Using a phenomenological design, the data were collected from 10 gifted students through focus group interviews and student journals. An inductive approach was used to analyze the data. The findings indicated that although gifted students referred to this experience as weird and different, they also stated that using the app helped their learning. They foregrounded that the app needed improvements and a section for live interaction with other gifted students and teachers to increase their motivation. This study suggests some implications for mobile app developers, educators, and parents.

The aim of this paper is to present the results of a study on the subjective interpretation and the construction of biographies by parents of children with ADHD. The research was driven by insufficient knowledge regarding the definition of the support offered at school to a child with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder among parents and to determine what is important and unique from a parental perspective. The presented studies were constructivist, interpretative studies using the biographical method. Narrative interviews were conducted with parents of children with ADHD living in Poland. Reconstruction of their parental experiences allowed an understanding of their individual feelings and experiences, which showed “the truth” about the educational support provided to a child. The aim of the studies was a reconstruction of the narrative and an analysis of the subjective meanings which parents give to the educational support that is offered to their children at school. The central thesis took the form of a question: How did parents interpret their own experiences related to educational support given at school to a child with ADHD? The analysis of the narration shows different parental experiences regarding the educational support received. The reality reconstructed by examined parents is complex and consists of hope and expectations, but also doubts, powerlessness and helplessness. Some parts of the narration are poignant, sorrowful and rife with feelings of loneliness, which is a consequence of misunderstanding a specific child’s needs. The other parts of the narrative are dominated by happiness and joy caused by the support that a student received and its effects. By speaking about the help which was received at school, the parents expose their personal feelings towards that event, and they show their individual interpretation of the reality that they experienced. They give subjective meaning to a narrative that they feel is significant.

The transition to personalized, predictive, preventive and participatory medicine, due, among other things, to the achievements of fundamental science, digitalization and the development of information and communication technologies, naturally demanded changes in childrens health care. New organizational, methodological and technological changes that have taken place to ensure a highly dynamic, adapted, and, at the same time, permanent provision of the medical process anywhere and at any time, have led to the need for specialists of a new formation a pluriexpert team ready to work in new conditions: how to participate in research in fundamental science, and to the introduction of innovative methods in clinical practice, medical and social support and the educational process. In these conditions, the strategic goal set for pediatrics to analyze absolutely all aspects of health: somatic, neuropsychic, emotional and psycho-social, in the process of growth and development of a child from conception/birth to adolescence / adulthood was implemented in a new direction of clinical and fundamental medicine developmental pediatrics and child health programming. 7P-pediatrics: Programming the development and health of the child, Preventive, Predictive, Personalized, Participatory, Polyprofessional (Pluriexpert), Progressive medicine for children, in which the results of scientific work based on fundamental data and ideas of neurosciences about progressive development and modern methodology of educational support of the entire medical process are fully translated into a clinical practice.

Nursing handover exemplifies both the nurse’s professional ethics and the profession’s integrity. The article by Yetti et al. acknowledges the critical role of structure and process in handover implementation. At the same time, they emphasised the fundamental necessity to establish and update handover guidelines. I assert that effective patient handover practices do not simply happen; instead, nurses require pertinent educational support. It is also pivotal to develop greater professional accountability throughout the handover process. The responsibility for ensuring consistent handover quality should be shared between nurse managers and those who do the actual handover practices.
