A partir disso, utilizou-se a seguinte estratégia de busca: ((adolescent OR teen OR child) AND (violence OR sex offenses OR exposure to violence OR child abuse OR violence against women OR gender-based violence OR domestic violence OR intimate partner violence)) AND (sexually transmitted infections OR sexually transmitted disease).

Background: Gonorrhea is a frequently encountered sexually transmitted disease that results in urethritis and can further lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and possibly disseminated gonococcal infections. Thus, it must be diagnosed promptly and accurately. In addition, drug susceptibility testing should be performed rapidly as well. Unfortunately, Neisseria gonorrhoea is a fastidious microorganism that is difficult to grow and requires culturing in an opaque medium. Methods: Here, we used isothermal microcalorimetry (IMC) to monitor the growth and the antimicrobial susceptibility of N. gonorrhoea. Results: Using IMC, concentrations of N. gonorrhoea between 2000 and 1 CFU·mL−1 were detected within 12 to 33 h. In addition, drug susceptibility could be monitored easily. Conclusions: The use of isothermal microcalorimetry provides an interesting and useful tool to detect and characterize fastidious microbes such as N. gonorrhoea that require media incompatible with optical detection conventionally used in many commercial systems.

This article explores the representation of touch in a selection of naturalist and decadent novels in the contexts of late nineteenth-century consumerism and widespread fears about contamination from sexually transmitted disease, principally syphilis. It argues that while the tangible material world does matter to decadence (Émile Zola), touching the (female) body engenders fear and disgust that often leads to fragmentation, unfeeling, and aversion (J.-K. Huysmans). Touching the body or body part, if touching occurs at all, is often portrayed as a transgressive and dangerous act that threatens to contaminate and corrupt (Rachilde, Octave Mirbeau). In Gabriele D’Annunzio’s Il piacere (Pleasure, 1889), a novel that explores the themes of beauty and desire, touch is invoked at least as much as the other senses and is at times foregrounded in the haptoglyphic and synecdochic imagery of hands and fingers, but the tactile act serves only to emphasize what cannot be possessed and the pleasure and pain of touching too much.

This chapter covers problems that can occur with sexual health in women. It starts with the definition, assessment, diagnosis, investigations, and treatment of different sorts of vaginal discharge. It provides information about sexual health in context, including its links with other forms of disease and psychological well-being. Protocols for partner notification in the cases of diagnosis with a sexually transmitted disease are explained. The signs, symptoms, and treatment for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and Mycoplasma genitalium are all covered. It also covers the definition, causes, diagnosis, and treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease. Hepatitis B and C are described, along with anogenital warts, genital herpes, and genital lumps and ulcers. Finally HIV and new developments such as PrEP and PEP are covered.

Psoriasis affecting the face, scalp, hands, feet, nail and genitals may cause disproportional impact on quality of life despite the small surface area compromised. Genital psoriasis can affect 33 to 63% of psoriasis patients at any time during their lives. Even though GenPs is relatively common, these lesions may be under-reported and under diagnosed because of embarrassment of patients, unfamiliarity with the disease or concerns about having a sexually transmitted disease. Several effective treatments have been reported for plaque psoriasis, however there are few studies and reports regarding GenPs treatment. We report here a case of successful treatment of a patient with genital, face and scalp psoriasis with risankizumab, an anti-IL23 drug

Condyloma acuminata is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). During pregnancy, condyloma acuminata can proliferate rapidly due to changes in immunity and increased blood supply. One of the safest therapeutic modalities is trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Electrocautery is another modality in pregnant patients.  A 16-year-old woman, 6-months pregnant, complained of a wart-like lump in the pubic area getting more prominent since the last two weeks and covering the vagina surface. The lump is not itchy and painless. From history-taking it was found that patient often changes partners. On physical examination, the lesions were multiple papules with a verrucous surface. The results of the work-up showed a positive acetowhite test. Patients are then treated with a TCA of 80-90% during pregnancy and followed by electrocautery and excision during cesarean section. The results of 80-90% TCA treatment followed by electrocautery and excision were satisfactory, and there were no recurrences when the patient went for a follow-up. TCA is a substance that is caustic and can erode skin and mucous membranes. TCA works by coagulation of proteins which causes dryness of cells and tissues. TCA is safe for pregnant women. Combination of TCA 80-90% with electrocautery and excision, in this case, proved to be effective with no sign of recurrence. The combination of TCA therapy with electrocautery and excision has proven effective and safe for pregnant patients.
