Psoriasis affecting the face, scalp, hands, feet, nail and genitals may cause disproportional impact on quality of life despite the small surface area compromised. Genital psoriasis can affect 33 to 63% of psoriasis patients at any time during their lives. Even though GenPs is relatively common, these lesions may be under-reported and under diagnosed because of embarrassment of patients, unfamiliarity with the disease or concerns about having a sexually transmitted disease. Several effective treatments have been reported for plaque psoriasis, however there are few studies and reports regarding GenPs treatment. We report here a case of successful treatment of a patient with genital, face and scalp psoriasis with risankizumab, an anti-IL23 drug

AbstractIn the belt of the Polish Uplands, including the Holy Cross Region, lakes occur sporadically. In some places, however, they are somewhat more abundant. They are usually objects with a small surface area. The majority of them have not been subject to thorough investigation. Therefore, the objective of the paper is the expansion of knowledge regarding these lakes. The paper among others presents the characteristics of several lakes with aeolian genesis located on the Przedbórz Upland in the catchment area of the Wierna River and in the Nida Basin near the towns of Busko-Zdrój and Pińczów. The study results determine the morphometric parameters of the lakes, also pointing to an exceptionally high variability of physical and chemical water properties, as well as the possibility of periodical disappearance of the lakes. Moreover, the study results provide a necessary and solid basis for further investigation of the lakes, which in the context of the observed increasingly serious water deficit and decrease in the level of surface waters and groundwaters is undoubtedly of high importance.

Most of the world’s tropical coastal and shelf areas are heavily affected by anthropogenic activities, but the north-west shelf of Australia is considered a ‘very low-impact’ area. The role of herbivory on coral reefs is recognised, but most of that research comes from reefs with considerable land-based impacts. In this study we sampled the teleost community and evaluated herbivory on the reef platform at Browse Island, a small isolated island 200km off north-western Australia, using several approaches: (1) tethering of macroalgae; (2) herbivore exclosures; and (3) video footage. In total, 99 teleost species from 26 families were identified. Turf algal consumption was evident and 18 teleost turf consumers were identified. In contrast, no evidence was found of herbivory on large macroalgae, and browsers, the only group able to consume macroalgae, were represented by just four species all belonging to the genus Naso. The lack of diversity among these specialist herbivores may be a consequence of the small surface area of the reef and the distance to other emergent reefs. Based on a model of top-down control of macroalgae, the reef is potentially vulnerable to disturbance. Small isolated reefs can have low resilience despite having low impacts from land.

A SiO2–SO3H amorphous catalyst containing a small surface area of 115.0 m2g−1 and 1.32 mmol H+/g was prepared from fine construction sand and sodium carbonate and sulfonated with H2SO4. In a 10% (w/w) basis, it is very efficient for catalyzing the esterification of carboxylic acids with phenol. The reaction processes were performed using conventional heating and under microwave irradiation. The yields were higher in the microwave-irradiated esterification. The catalyst could be used for three esterification sequences in both processes.

The bottled beverage before you is to be opened. This work has already described the bottle (colorless or not), the closure (screw cap, synthetic cork and cork), and the contents (the wine). If the wine is not a table wine (vin ordinaire or vin de pays) which is simply enjoyed in a family or informal surrounding where the details of the container into which it is poured are less important, then it is generally found that: (a) clear colorless glass or crystal is used so that the visual appeal of the beverage can be enjoyed; (b) the bowls of wine glasses (except for sparkling wines and dessert wines) will be tapered upward from the stem into a bulbous shape which diminishes again at the top; and (c) the rim of the glass will be thin enough to allow it to be unnoticed when the wine is sipped. It is held that these are important, and in particular, the shape of the glass helps retain the more volatile constituents for the consumer’s enjoyment. Bowls used in glasses for red wines are more rounded so that when half full, the surface area is large. For white wines, this is considered less important, and of course, for Champagne and other sparkling wines, where conical flutes are used, a small surface area is avoided to enhance the flow of bubbles. As the wine briefly stands, perhaps having been swirled, it is often found that “legs” or “tears” of wine are seen to form on the wall above the surface. Their appearance is, in part, a function of temperature as well as the alcohol content of the wine and the resulting surface tension of the liquid. Then, using capillary action, the liquid climbs the side of the glass. Both alcohol and water evaporate, but the alcohol evaporates faster, so more liquid is drawn up from the bulk. The wine thus moves up the side of the glass and forms droplets that run back down the glass.
