Abstract Decreasing waste materials through recycle has in the recent contributed to sustainable manufacturing in many textile industries for better resource utilization in textile mills. This has been given first priority in manufacturing, processing and finishing operations. Most of the time the yarn manufacturing and proper utilization of this material didn’t give attention in most companies. Especially yarn length variation of packages, weaving beams and copes have very critical impact on those companies which manufacture and utilize yarn products. This variation problem has great impact on their productivity and profitability. This paper describes the application of a new formula in the yarn packaging process and it is accomplished by derivation a new formula that can determine the radius of any package. The formula has integrated the basic characteristics of yarn and fiber including yarn diameter, yarn/ fiber density and mass of the yarn coiled on the cop. Finally we have concluded that package radius is the quadratic function of yarn density and package mass on the cope.

Reinforcement of inequality and rise in human conflict across society, culture, political economy and gender relations is a characteristic feature of globalisation which is an apparent process of development. This inequality becomes more evident in a globalising city like Mumbai because the capitalist expansion within Mumbai has been defragmented and worrisome. Girangaon in Mumbai (spread over E, F and G wards within MCGM- Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai) is a case reflecting a similar inconsistency because this is a core area which has been undergoing so called urban renewal since the closure of cotton textile mills since 1980s. More livelihood opportunities in Mumbai have been created in the informal tertiary sector as compared to the formal traditional occupations. Urban poverty, income disparities and deprivations are issues which remain unaddressed.  Women who are an important part of the urban economy and who remain behind the veils when it comes to assessment and calculation of real income are not left behind from this brunt. The present paper therefore is an attempt to understand the participation and contribution of women in Mumbai’s economy. It also tries to study whether there has been any change in the socio-economic status of women from Girangaon especially with two important processes- closure of mills and the initiation of gentrification. For this purpose a questionnaire survey was conducted in Girangaon and the collected data has been analysed qualitatively to understand the dynamics of capital and gender relations.

Background: In India, around 20 million workers are engaged in the textile industries. However, the prevalence of byssinosis has been little reported. Aims: To determine the prevalence of byssinosis and other respiratory disorders among workers exposed to cotton dust in textile mills in Delhi, India. Methods: Sputum samples were collected from 156 workers employed in 15 cotton textile mills, and expression of epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) and cytokeratin (CK) marker proteins was investigated. Information regarding respiratory symptoms, certain personal characteristics and occupational history was also gathered. Results: Symptoms were observed in 56.41% of the workers. Expression of EMA and CK was observed in 27.5% and 50% of the workers, respectively. Expression of EMA and CK was significantly associated with smoking and duration of employment. Conclusion: Measures are needed to reduce dust levels in the workplace, and to discourage smoking and alcohol consumption among the textile workers.

Job satisfaction is important for better performance. This research paper shows the various factors affect job satisfaction. To find the actual facts 50 respondents are selected randomly from Meghna Textiles Mills Ltd., Tongi Industrial Area, Gazipur, Dhaka for collecting data. A structured interview schedule is used to collect data. Brayfield-Rothe scale was used for measuring job satisfaction. 10 variables like proper supervision, recognition for good work, payment, promotional opportunities, work environment, proper increment, participation in decision making, allowances and bonus are selected as independent variables and job satisfaction of the workers is selected as dependent variable. The result of the study shows that significantly higher number of workers are dissatisfied with their job than those who are satisfied with their job. The results indicate that age and experiences are negatively correlated with job satisfaction. The industrialists can be benefited by reducing job dissatisfaction which will lead to higher performance and better industrial relation in the country. Changes should be made to get better performance by the workers for the betterment of the current situation of industries in Bangladesh.

Cyberloafing is becoming a common problem in every organization that directly affects organizational productivity. In this study we are going to study the influence of abusive supervision on cyberloafing, further, we are studying the mediating effect of emotional exhaustion generated due to abusive supervision behaviour, motivating employees towards cyberloafing. The data were collected from 150 employees working in Saif Textile Mills Ltd & Kohat Textile Mills Ltd, Pakistan through questionnaires. The study sample was drawn using a convenience sampling technique. This study used SPSS 25 and process Hayes (2013) model 4 for data analysis and for model fitness we used CFA (AMOS 22). The data findings demonstrate that abusive supervision significantly and positively affects cyberloafing and also emotional exhaustion mediates this relation significantly. Therefore we conclude that abusive supervision is the main factor for employees to be exhausted and ultimately move towards cyberloafing. Inspired by the United Nation’s Sustainability Development goals for responsible consumption and production, this final year two-student team thesis was conducted across six convenience sampled textiles and apparels companies in Karachi, Pakistan, as exploratory research. Interviews of purposively sampled personnel from these companies were assessed on their awareness on sustainability and the initiatives taken to develop infrastructures in alignment with green value chain standards and sustainable product. The instrument used is an unstructured questionnaire developed by the student researchers from adopted aspects of the Global Reporting Initiative standards. The use of thematic analysis and Greening Goliaths vs Emerging Davids Sustainability Matrix was further essential in this study’s potential in proposing green marketing strategy (GMS) to the Ministry of Textile Industry, and the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association. The study brought to light the detriments to market penetration of sustainable textiles and apparels in Pakistan, namely the economy, and consumer behavior. Conclusively, the student researchers found that the textiles industry in Pakistan was well developed along global sustainable goals but demand for sustainable apparel stemmed from developed nations owing to their consumer’s awareness on the implications of inorganic derived apparels on the environment.

Organizations claim employee as one of the most important strategic assets occupying the central position of intellectual capital. Monetary incentives alone cannot serve the function of retaining such employees. The objective of the study was to explore the individual as well as organizational factors, which governs the behavioural and psychological make-up of an employee and contributes to establishing relationship continuity between a firm and its employees. For this purpose, data is collected from 552 employees working in Textile mills in Multan region through purposive sampling and SEM is applied as a research technique. Results provide interesting factors that can be useful for retaining skilled knowledge workers.
