Abstract This paper presents the results of field studies carried out on existing pressure systems with pumping stations. The considered field experiments were carried out on a closed irrigation system, which includes a pumping station with a water intake, a closed irrigation pipeline network and sprinklers. On this system, field studies of transient processes were carried out with the simultaneous shutdown of all pumping units simulating emergency power outages of the motors, and with shutdown of one of the units simulating the automatic operation of the station. The presented results make it possible to carry out practical calculations of transient processes for pumping stations with different water supplies, heads, capacities, diameters and lengths of pressure pipelines and shockproof devices.

AbstractThis book has introduced two new (linked) models for greyfield precinct regeneration—place-activated and transit-activated GPR—with a new set of processes to enable them. The need for new design, planning, and engagement tools that must be integrated into all urban development is also seen as key to unlocking greyfield regeneration. Designs for such precincts have proliferated, but planning systems are still hindering their implementation, especially those systems related to land-assembly issues in the established, occupied middle greyfield suburbs. Planning must change, and a potential way ahead involves the planning processes demonstrated in this book. A first step involves district greenlining, which enables identification of strategic planning challenges and priorities for action at a district scale along a transit corridor (transit-activated GPR) or in precinct-scale areas in typical middle suburbs with high redevelopment potential (place-activated GPR). Their key attributes are gleaned from the previous chapters and summarised in this chapter. A final plea is made here for partnerships to be created from the engagement of all stakeholders: government, community and civil society, innovators, and developers. Greyfield Precinct Redevelopment Authorities established within state governments as part of a federal Better Cities 2.0 program could guide this transition.

Abstract Methods and algorithms of the sustainable synthesis of adaptive control systems for the technological process of formalin production have been proposed in this article. Parameters of the regulator are estimated in the developed adaptive control system, i.e. the purpose of adaptation is reduced to the estimation of coefficients of the regulator providing the specified behavior of the system. The results obtained and the analysis of transition processes based on the modeling of the control system showed that with adaptive control, mass fractions of formaldehyde and methanol in formalin are held within 36.5÷37.5% and 0.7÷0.9% respectively, while the specific consumption of the methanol decreases by 3÷4%, which allows the process in mode close to the optimal.

The book under review reveals the complexities of transition processes and the evolution of reformers, elites and society’s notions of those processes nature. Four major blocks of problems are analyzed in the monograph: the nature of Russian capitalism which is determined by special features of its formation; the generality of transition processes of the economies that found themselves in the middle income trap; the impact of social inequality on the solution of economic, social and environmental problems. The monograph proves the transformation processes success evaluation criteria, and highlights the conditions that are necessary in order to achieve positive results of reforms. The cluster approach used in the analysis of intercountry inequality makes it possible to point out a number of stylized facts showcasing the lack of convergence in the economic growth course. The paper proves that the existing scale of social inequality makes it impossible to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
