<p>This study examines from the viewpoint of twelve adult fiction readers, who are members of book clubs, how they go about selecting fiction books to borrow from the public library. The methodological approach taken was a qualitative one in that each participant took part in an individual, semi-structured, face-to-face interview. The central premise of the study was that information seeking occurs in a context and must therefore be understood as influenced by context. In attempting to understand how adult fiction readers select their books then, the study examined a variety of contextual factors that influenced book choice. Personal characteristics such as mood and lifestyle were found to have an impact on book selections. Family and friends, and peers from book clubs, also played important roles in participants' book choices. The mass media, including the Internet, radio, television and the printed press also impacted participants' choice of books. Radio, in particular, was a popular source among participants. The study also examined the role that the public library played in fiction readers' book choices. It was found that while the public library provided a range of readers' advisory tools to assist fiction readers in their book selections, not all the tools were helpful to the study's participants. Library staff also played a largely invisible role in participants' book choices. Implications for public library services are discussed in the study.</p>

Rivendell, a free and open source software suite for automated radio broadcasting, has brought several groups with clashing stances on technology, communication, and cultural politics into cooperation. This paper treats Rivendell as an opening onto the politics at play when the liberal ethos propelling free and open source software (Coleman, 2013) meets the autonomy-prizing traditions of independent broadcasting within an automation system. Complicating this already tense juncture, Rivendell has drawn users and code contributors from drastically opposed political groups within American broadcastings—right-wing Christian talk radio networks and progressive community stations—and has sustained a difficult terrain of working compromise that the activist push for low-power FM broadcasting inaugurated (Dunbar-Hester, 2014). In this paper, analysis of Rivendell's open source code base sheds light on its development and helps connect it to longer histories of media automation and its attendant social frictions. Interviews with lead Rivendell developers complete the picture of the project's trajectory, of its relation to the religious right context where the project began, and of the negotiations that have played out among its developers and its community of users in terrestrial and internet radio. The ongoing compromises and tensions threaded through Rivendell can offer insight into an issue that becomes larger and more pressing as media become increasingly complex and networked: how artists, activists, and media technologists who prioritize independence have reckoned with their reliance on socio-technical infrastructures whose connections may strike them as far less than savory.

Problems with a shortage of electricity often occur, especially in a rural area, which makes it difficult to do daily work and makes it difficult to communicate with outsiders. Problems with a shortage of electricity can affect the daily activities of residents, especially in rural areas, and can pose risks in the event of emergencies such as illnesses that require mechanical treatment. If this problem persists it could be detrimental to the population who do not have electricity. Electricity is very important as it can make it easier for people to do the work and for the people in the interior to get information. Problems with a shortage of electricity can affect communication networks such as the internet, radio waves, mobile phone lines and so on. In the current state of technology development, the creation of technologies that can solve this problem must be done and referred to as Solar Energy. It is an IoT research that absorbs energy from the sun to produce electricity in every home. The movement of this research can be controlled manually by using a mobile phone connected to the internet and also controlled automatically by the direction of sunlight. With this, updates from users are a must. This meets the user's need for a device that can be used continuously.

The development of streaming radio has been very developed, radio in digital form is also known as internet radio because to access streaming radio you must use the internet media. However, there are several radio stations in Ponorogo that still use conventional radio whose coverage is limited because they use an antenna to reach the signal range, and can only reach local areas because Ponorogo has several highlands and several mountains. This study aims to create a Networked Streaming Radio application so that Ponorogo radio station broadcasts can reach any place that has an internet connection and can accommodate the Ponorogo radio station industry which still does not have an Android-based streaming radio as a media convergence collaboration movement for the Ponorogo radio discussion forum. This research uses the waterfall which consists of five stages, namely: identification, design, implementation, verification, maintenance. Testing this streaming radio application using the black box method shows the application is running well and there are no errors. Testing using 6 different media and resolutions was carried out to find out whether the Ponorogo Radio application could run well on various media/smartphones and different resolutions.

Issues concerning learning during educational disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic have been the subject of many excellent journalistic accounts, but there has not been much scholarly output addressing the experience. The need to maintain social distance poses a significant challenge to the international communities particularly between populations, educators and students. Though elicited by COVID-19 pandemic, the focal point of this challenge remains how to offer learning opportunities to students while stakeholders make efforts to contain an awfully virulent pandemic. In Europe and elsewhere, technology has helped with distance learning; assisting individuals on the margins of society and those in formal economy to achieve learning objectives despite a compulsory social distance regime. In other areas of the world such as Africa, correlation between technology and affordability has become a new frontier for continuing education. Encumbrances brought about by COVID-19 have deeply subverted education, state security, sociopolitical stability and economic development, which in turn create or preserve untoward anomaly. In this light, Africa has become the ground zero of disorientation where disorganized criminal groups fester due to poor education and fewer opportunities. The article examines the effect of COVID-19 in the continuing tertiary education relations and concludes that while blended learning is conceivable in Nigeria, rural schools might not benefit from the programme due to truncated development in communication and low level of technology. The use of affordable Internet Radio is thus, recommended for Nigeria.
