The paper presents the current state of using augmented reality (AR) in the sectors of food analysis and food promotion through products and orders. Based on an extensive literature review, 34 indicative augmented reality applications of various purposes, target audiences and implementations have been selected and presented. Applications are research-based, commercial, or oriented just for entertainment. Eight classification criteria are defined, especially for these applications, and used for presenting them, including content, context, execution scenario, markers, devices supported, implementation details and appeals based on evaluation, downloads, or sales. Additionally, 16 implementation and supportive platforms that have been used in the presented applications are described. The paper discusses advantages and limitations of current applications leading to proposals of further use of augmented reality in these food sectors towards a uniform handling of all parameters related to food processing, from production until consumption. These parameters include content use, design considerations, implementation issues, use of AR markers, etc.

This research explores the current state of Construction 4.0 and discusses a four-layer implementation of Construction 4.0 in the industry. The research methodology consists of an extensive literature review to gain insights about Construction 4.0 and frame the four-layer implementation plan. A case study is also presented to showcase the proposed implementation plan. Nine Construction 4.0 technologies were discussed, their integration throughout the project lifecycle was presented in a roadmap, their integration and connectivity with one another were outlined in an interaction roadmap, and the requirements necessary for achieving the 4.0 transformation were articulated. However, the proposed implementation plan is focused on nine Construction 4.0 technologies. The research presents a comprehensive plan for integrating Construction 4.0 technologies into the industry and serves as a guideline to help construction companies better understand the implications of Construction 4.0.

A fairly general and unified approach to nonlocality in material continua is introduced here. This work aims at proposing new mathematical and conceptual foundations for the emerging topic of nonlocal metamaterials suitable for physicists, engineers, mathematicians, and materials scientists. The text develops an original rigorous theory, a detailed example involving nonlocal semiconductor metamaterials, and extensive literature review and discussion of possible applications of nonlocal metamaterials.

Different academic disciplines have deployed a diversity of approaches to European identity, Europeanism and Europeanisation, with often a strong emphasis on their material-structural components. This article uses a discursive-material analysis, that acknowledges the importance of the material, but places it in a non-hierarchical relation with the discursive. Grounded in an extensive literature review on European identity, Europeanism and Europeanisation, the article first highlights the discursive nature of these concepts, how they engage in struggles with other place-based identities and discourses, and how the articulations of these concepts themselves are deeply contingent, with a long history of essentialist articulations. In the second part, the material components of these three concepts (and in particular Europeanisation) are analysed, then allowing for a plea to understand Europe as an assemblage, where Europe is seen to be performed in always unique and contingent articulations of the discursive and the material.

An annotated checklist of the insectivorous mammals (order Eulipotyphla) of Laos is presented for the first time. The checklist is based on an extensive literature review and an examination of available museum specimens from world collections. Confirmed fauna of eulipotyphlans includes 11 species from 7 genera and 3 families. Additionally, several species which are known from neighbouring countries and could potentially occur in Laos are included in this checklist. According to these data, the Laotian fauna can include at least 23 species in 11 genera.

The pennatulacean genus Balticina has had a long and confusing taxonomic history, with serious nomenclatural problems that remain unresolved. Owing to disagreements about authorships and dates of publication, the names Pavonaria, Norticina and Halipteris have all been used as valid in place of Balticina, or else been regarded as its junior synonyms, even simultaneously. In this paper, after an extensive literature review, we determine the authorships and dates for all the taxa involved in accordance with the provisions of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature and establish Balticina Gray, 1870 (=Halipteris) and Balticinidae Balss, 1910 (=Halipteridae) as the valid genus and family names, respectively, for this group of sea pens. We also propose the replacement name Rakollikeria for the preoccupied genus name Pavonaria Kölliker, 1870 (Balticinidae) (nec Schweigger, 1819 - Funiculinidae).

This article presents an analysis of Portuguese horror works, focusing mainly on the use of special effects for narrative strengthening while discussing the potential of digital special effects in the production of audio-visual content. The analysis, supported by the construction of a theoretical corpus based on an extensive literature review of work done by Portuguese and foreign authors, touches base with current practices and is complemented with the analysis of some recent works in the area of audio-visual production linked with the horror genre. The results of the work done allow us to consider that the progressive simplification of the access to technical tools and the functional literacy needed for audio-visual content production, including digital special effects, has created a more extensive space for exploring these solutions for storytelling and enhancing the creativity of those who want to tell engaging stories.
