The article is devoted to considering the ways of improving language literacy of law enforcement officers. The experience of the existing researches concerning this issue is analyzed and summarized. The ways of improving language literacy of law enforcement officers are formulated. Some recommendations both on teaching the Russian language within the professional training of law enforcement officers and organizing their self-training are provided. Such concepts as professional speech culture, literacy, functional literacy, language literacy are considered in the article. It is noted that modern society makes higher demands on the professional developing level of specialists in various fields: a competent specialist must have both a set of professionally significant knowledge and skills and high level of professional speech culture, which implies a high level of literacy. It is indicated that the level of developing the professional speech culture is regarded as one of the main indicators of the law enforcement officers’ professionalism. Literacy implies the ability of a person to read and write according to the standards of his native language. The concept of functional literacy is interpreted as the level of knowledge, skills and abilities that ensure the normal individual’s functioning in the system of social relations. Language literacy, being a component of functional literacy, implies the ability of a native speaker to comply with the norms of the literary language in the process of oral and written communication. Some recommendations on teaching the Russian language to law enforcement officers are provided. Various ways of improving the language literacy of this category of specialists are described. It is concluded that the main ways of improving the language literacy of law enforcement officers are the following: teaching the Russian language to law enforcement officers; organizing the research activities of trainees; organizing the self-training of the officers during off-duty hours (using the educational Internet-resources and mobile applications). The urgency of the problem of improving the literacy level of native speakers at the present stage of the society development is emphasized.

The article highlights the problem of the formation of socio-cultural literacy in a junior schoolchild, which is considered as the planned result of his education in primary school. The characteristic of the concept of “socio-cultural literacy” is given, the difficulties of the formation of its individual components are discussed: civic identity; legal and financial culture; tolerance, etc. The examples of methods and techniques aimed at the development of socio-cultural literacy are given, the expediency of using different forms of organization of education is revealed, which contributes to the formation of the ability of primary schoolchildren to constructively build relationships in children’s society and successfully interact.

This article is devoted to communicative activity of students, which is a necessary component in learning any foreign language. The authors reveal the importance of improving the approach to the implementation of tasks in the lessons with communicative orientation, as well as the use of modern approaches in foreign language teaching in accordance with the leading challenges and strategies of the updated content of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The author analyzes modern methods and techniques aimed not only at improving the communicative skills of students, but also in parallel contributes to the development of critical thinking skills and the formation of functional literacy students.

The growing role of foreign language linguistic competence and especially foreign language functional literacy of a specialist requires a revision of the theoretical foundations and approaches to teaching writing in English in a modern university. This article defends the thesis that the development of linguistic competence through the prism of translation competence plays an important role in the development of foreign language functional literacy. The presented work clarifies the concept of foreign language functional literacy of students through the prism of translation competence and foreign language linguistic competence; recommendations are offered for the further development of a model for the formation of functional literacy in the process of teaching a foreign language in a non-linguistic university.

The results of this study generally concluded (1) study participants do not yet have advanced literacy skills that are meaningful to the needs of life, because the materials learning materials and learning activities do not fit the needs of local tutors, (2) development of literacy learning model based on local potential of agriculture can significantly empower Indigenous Communities. Local potential is developed into a learning module literacy, literacy tutor training, learning implementation, and evaluation of results provided by the potential skills of local content, (3) implementation of the development of functional literacy learning model based on local potential of agriculture is packaged in three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation (4) the effectiveness of the development model of literacy learning in study groups to apply model-based functional literacy development of local potential is better when compared with the study group who did not apply the intervention model development study. The effectiveness of model development, learning development and empowerment of remote indigenous communities in literacy programs, with one another have a significant positive relationship. The effectiveness of model development and learning development partially or simultaneously both significant positive effect on the empowerment of remote indigenous communities in the functional literacy program.

The article proposes a methodology for the formation of functional mathematical literacy of primary school students as a component of functional literacy. This methodology is based on mathematical models and their animation illustrations. Based on international research, it is shown that mathematical modeling is the most important universal action of a student in primary school. Examples of transformation of standard tasks for movement into tasks that are more close to reality are given, in solving which it is useful to use animation modeling, which involves the creation of children's animation for educational purposes. Animated videos illustrate the solution of non-standard mathematical problems, problems with unstructured, redundant or insufcient information. The activity of creating animation models allows students to increase the level of mathematical literacy, which is confrmed by the data of the pedagogical experiment.
