Abstract This article explores the last letters written by the Catholic patriarch of Ethiopia in exile Afonso Mendes, which illustrate that, in the face of defeat, Mendes has chosen to write the history of martyrdom, the sacrifice, and shedding of blood for the sake of faith. A group requires a sense of connection through a temporary axis. Mendes’s choice in these last years corresponds to the will of generating cohesion in space and continuity in time in a group that has confronted rupture, disillusionment, and deterioration. Mendes might have attempted to establish a framework that would allow him to alleviate the tension caused by the clash between the original aspirations and the flawed fulfillment of the objective. Therefore, the redaction of the processes of martyrdom and the creation of a calendar allows the transition into a place where a harmonious relationship between the past and the present is generated.

The article discusses symbolic means that express different meanings of the victim concept and the idea of sacrifice in J. K. Rowlings novel Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. The books title refers to the alchemical understanding of a philosophers stone as a means of immortality. Since the main purpose of the sacrifice rite is the magic of the appropriate death and rebirth essence, i.e. immortality, the philosophers stone can be interpreted as a symbol of sacrifice, and the stages of obtaining it as the rite stages of selection and preparation of the future victim for her / his sacralization or sanctification. There are at least two criteria for a typical victim, and they are the ones that determine the purity of a soul: the degree of innocence and the severity of the suffering. On a symbolic level the novel describes the transformation of a victim into sacrifice the essence of which is the soul purification. Only innocent victims, who have suffered personally but at the same time did not make other people suffer intentionally, may become a sacrifice. The main characteristic feature of Harry Potter as the novels protagonist is his readiness for self-sacrifice, which consists of such components as absence of greed and desire for power, as well as the ability to love, to overcome suffering and fear, to take risks and pose a challenge to prohibitions in the name of love, accepting both victories and defeats.

The focus of this paper is the double aetiology of the very first sacrifice of the ass in Ovid’s Fasti 1 and 6. I explore Ovid’s sources, in particular Hyginus’ Astronomica and Eratosthenes’ Catasterismoi and argue that the two Ovidian episodes look back to two Eratosthenic aetiological variants, both of which pertain to the catasterisation of the Asses. Regarding the significance of Priapus’ episode in the sacrificial list of Book 1, the sacrifice of the ass is programmatic for Ovid’s elegiac project: the donkey deserves to be sacrificed, since through its actions it undermines Priapus’ elegiac love and so poses a serious threat to the generic identity of the work. In Book 6 the ass is endowed with a national dimension, which was already inherent in Hyginus’ Eratosthenic version of the myth.

The Beatification of the United Romanian Bishops, in the Light of the Theology of Martyrdom. The Church of Christ fulfills three functions in the history of salvation: martyria, leiturgia and diakonia. Confession of Faith, martyria, it is a fundamental mission entrusted to the Church, which is exercised by preaching the Gospel (Matt. 28:19), the Logos transmitted and explained, the life in the faith and defending it from internal enemies (schisms, polemics, etc.) or external ones (heresies and persecutions). Since the times of apostolic and ancient Christianity martyria was achieved through a testimony of faith strengthened by resistance to persecution and the radicality of the sacrifice of life, starting with St. Stephen, passing through the long line of martyrs of all times, in 1623 by the martyrdom of St. Archbishop Joshaphat for the unity of the Church, the Churches United confessing from now on, with the price of shed blood, the faith and mission entrusted by Jesus “that all may be one” (Jn 17:20). During the persecutions of the twentieth century, the United Romanian Church wrote a page in the “theology of martyrdom”, building the Church, fulfilling its crown of martyrdom, the beatification of martyrs to restore the unity of the Church opening a new stage in the history and mission of contemporary Christianity. Keywords: beatification, Church, Catholicism, Greek Catholicism, martyrdom, theology, unity.

Abstract Heavy-duty locomotives with large exhaust vehicles have become a common means of transportation for Taiwanese. However, for car owners to increase power output, improve efficiency, and reduce fuel use, the original factory has designed demand settings for cost, environmental protection, and regulations. This leads to the sacrifice of the performance of the original car design, so the RC2 Super ECU is used to replace the original injection computer, and the air-fuel ratio, ignition angle and exhaust pipe are modified. Without the need to change the structure of the heavy locomotive, the horsepower of the heavy locomotive is improved. It is pointed out that the modification of these three original factory settings has greatly improved the overall speed performance of the heavy-duty locomotive horsepower. Therefore, it is proposed that “heavy locomotive performance verification by changing the timing of intake and exhaust” is mainly to verify the performance benefits and performance brought about by modifying the air-fuel ratio, ignition angle and exhaust pipe.

The main consciousness of the Pakistan movement was the economy. At least in the case of Bengal, it was truer. At one stage the religion movement became stronger when it was associated with religion. In the context of which Pakistan was established with the sacrifice and support of the people of Bengal. But the continued absence of democracy and constitutional rule in Pakistan complicates the situation. The people of Bengal joined the movement under the leadership of Bangabandhu to change the situation. Forced to do so, the Pakistani authorities held the first general election in 1970. In the election, the popular political party of Bengalis, Awami League, won a single majority. Even after the Awami League gained a single majority, the Pakistani authorities did not hand over-power. As a result, Bangabandhu declared the independence of Bangladesh. Bangladesh gained independence after a long nine-month war. At the end of the war, Bangabandhu took over the responsibility of the head of state and devoted himself to the formation of the country. In the present article, Bangabandhu's various steps in the formation of war-torn Bangladesh have been explored.
