The article discusses symbolic means that express different meanings of the victim concept and the idea of sacrifice in J. K. Rowlings novel Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. The books title refers to the alchemical understanding of a philosophers stone as a means of immortality. Since the main purpose of the sacrifice rite is the magic of the appropriate death and rebirth essence, i.e. immortality, the philosophers stone can be interpreted as a symbol of sacrifice, and the stages of obtaining it as the rite stages of selection and preparation of the future victim for her / his sacralization or sanctification. There are at least two criteria for a typical victim, and they are the ones that determine the purity of a soul: the degree of innocence and the severity of the suffering. On a symbolic level the novel describes the transformation of a victim into sacrifice the essence of which is the soul purification. Only innocent victims, who have suffered personally but at the same time did not make other people suffer intentionally, may become a sacrifice. The main characteristic feature of Harry Potter as the novels protagonist is his readiness for self-sacrifice, which consists of such components as absence of greed and desire for power, as well as the ability to love, to overcome suffering and fear, to take risks and pose a challenge to prohibitions in the name of love, accepting both victories and defeats.

This article deals with the problem of interrelationships between the real and imaginative time. The orientation of time in narration is defined by the feature of the linguistic means used by the author. Imaginative time is the unity of interrelationships between the author, the reader and the characters. Imaginative time is connected with perceptual time more closely rather than the real time. The main characteristic feature of the real time is the fact that it is one-dimensional. Imaginative or fiction time can be multi-dimensional. So, time relation problem is one of the most serious. It is conditioned by the fact that category of time is very complex itself and besides, it is defined as multi-aspect category.

The exploration of the depths of the sea is an activity that is important for many branches of science; it is associated with the work of people and technology in extremely difficult external conditions, which, in their extremeness, are comparable, perhaps, only with the conquest of space. At the present stage, deep-sea surveys are carried out using various instruments, including manned ones. These machines do not belong to the class of military large-tonnage submarines, but to the so-called Bubble Subs. The hull, which is a translucent thick-walled spherical shell is the main characteristic feature of this type of underwater vehicle. The presented work lists the main problems faced by researchers in the strength analysis of such PMMA hulls. In particular, the issue of the significant difference between the results of calculations in cases where the material is considered as physically linear and as physically non-linear is disclosed in detail. In addition, the obtained numerical results are compared with the experimental data.

Typomorphic features of supergene gold in karst cavities were studied in the recently discovered Au–Te–Sb–Tl deposit within the Khokhoy gold ore field of the Aldan-Stanovoy auriferous province (Aldan shield, East Russia). Two morphological types of supergene gold, massive and porous, are recognized there. The first type is represented by gold crystals and irregular mass, with the fineness ranging from 835 to 1000‰. They are closely associated with goethite, siderite, unnamed Fe, Te, and Tl carbonates, Tl tellurites/tellurates and antimonates, as well as avicennite with a Te impurity. The second type is represented by mustard gold of two types with different internal structure: microporous and dendritic. The supergene gold is characterized by persistently high fineness. Along with Ag, it invariably contains Hg (up to 5.78 wt%) and Bi, and, rarely, Pb, Cu, and Fe. The supergene gold is chemically homogeneous, and its particles are all marked by high fineness, without any rims or margins. The obtained characteristics made it possible to prove the existence of two genetic types of supergene gold. Mustard microporous gold is the result of the decomposition of the associated minerals—goethite, Tl oxides, tellurium, Fe, Mn and Tl carbonates and antimonates, containing microinclusions of gold. Massive gold and dendrites are newly formed. The decomposition, remobilization, and reprecipitation of residual gold nanoparticles and their aggregation led to the formation of dendrites, and with further crystal growth and filling of pores, to gold of massive morphology. In terms of morphology, internal structure, fineness, and trace element composition, supergene gold of the Khokhoy gold ore field is comparable to gold from the Kuranakh deposit (Russia) and the Carlin-type gold deposits. It also is similar to spungy and mustard gold from Au–Te and Au–Sb deposits, weathering crusts, and placers. Its main characteristic feature is a close paragenesis with Tl minerals.

This paper proposes a new framework for the design of evolutionary multi-objective optimization (EMO) algorithms. The main characteristic feature of the proposed framework is that the optimization result of an EMO algorithm is not the final population but a subset of the examined solutions during its execution. As a post-processing procedure, a pre-specified number of solutions are selected from an unbounded external archive where all the examined solutions are stored. In the proposed framework, the final population does not have to be a good solution set. The point of the algorithm design is to examine a wide variety of solutions over the entire Pareto front and to select well-distributed solutions from the archive. In this paper, first we explain difficulties in the design of EMO algorithms in the existing two frameworks: non-elitist and elitist. Next, we propose the new framework of EMO algorithms. Then we demonstrate advantages of the proposed framework over the existing ones through computational experiments. Finally we suggest some interesting and promising future research topics.

The article is devoted to the characteristics of the modern migration processes in the Chukotka autonomous region. The source base of this study is statistical materials, published results of the expert and mass surveys among the population conducted in 2018, 2019, 2020 in the cities and villages of the region. The paper presents comparative analysis of the migration situation in the ChAR in different years, identifies the features of the migration processes occurring in the Far North-East of Russia, characterizes the migration attitudes and attitudes towards the migrants of different groups of the region's population. The study identifies the reasons for rapid outflow of the residents of the ChAR in the early 1990th, changes in the structure of the population, including the ethnic one, and describes the current migration situation. High rates of internal migration are the main characteristic feature of the northern territories. During the times of economic growth, there is an increase in migration, in the times of crisis - an intensive decline in the population. Chukotka is characterized by such factors restraining migration as the unfavorable climate, high cost of the air tickets, high cost of the renting housing, and especially payroll. Chukotka is a territory of regulated entry for the foreign citizens, which largely constrains the flow of foreign labor migrants. The results of the polls among the residents of the region show that a significant part of the respondents is generally neutral towards Russian and foreign labor migrants; in general, the population understands the importance of the influx of qualified personnel for the development of the region. The main problem of the demographic development of the PrJSC is the migration outflow, which continues against the background of natural population growth. Currently, the region is experiencing negative dynamics of migration processes.

Dynamics of language, its ability to innovate, to create neologisms makes it possible to perform more complex cognitive-discursive functions, contributing to the reflection in the linguistic consciousness of the phenomena that are nominated. Neologic research acquires relevance focused on the occurrence of interactions between the well-established and accepted usage of the system of the Ukrainian language. This interaction reflects the process of harmonisation of the language system and the conceptosphere of modern society that is changing rapidly. Lexical changes in the language system are caused, as it is noted, primarily by extralinguistic factors. Denotation of new objects, events, concepts, realities, new words, new meanings of known words, new phrases are therefore the main characteristic feature in determining the nature of neologisms, new words. Categories of this type are considered by most researchers of neologisms. The formed neologisms as a result of these processes, do not represent new objects and concepts, and are used for names of words that already exist. According to my observations, among the neologisms introduced into the registers of lexicographic works, complex words dominate. The first is the formation of new words based on word-formative possibilities inherent in the language itself. These capabilities are being implemented, but with degrees intensity varying. In the formation of new words one notes a high activity of the prefix нео-, meaning renewal, of the prefix суб-, meaning fitting under something or near something, subordination, etc.

Article 4(3) TFEU provides that in the areas of research, technological development, and space, the Union shall have competence ‘to carry out activities, in particular to define and implement programmes’. This competence is further fleshed out in the various provisions contained in Title XIX. Article 4 TFEU concerns areas in which competence is shared between the EU and the MS. The competence in research, technological development, and space is not, however, an ordinary shared competence. Article 4(3) TFEU specifies that ‘the exercise of that competence [in research, technological development and space] shall not result in MS being prevented from exercising theirs’. This means that Union action may not pre-empt MS action in these areas, whereas such pre-emption is actually the main characteristic feature of shared competences, in accordance with Article 2(2) TFEU.

In recent decades, modern scholars who interpret the meaning of the concept «res publica» proceed from Cicero’s statement that est ... res publica res populi, that is, «the affair or property of the people». Most of them notes that the famous orator only expressed a common opinion shared by all the citizens of Rome. Moreover, in their opinion, res publica should not be considered as a «state», which is characteristic of previous generations of scientists, but as a value concept associated with a direct expression of the sovereignty of the Roman people, which characterizes the system, the cornerstone of which is law and order. The opposite of res publica is tyrannical rule. At first glance, such an interpretation of res publica seems to bring us closer to Roman realities and makes it possible to abandon the use of modern concepts, which often distort the essence of events and phenomena of the classical period. However, this interpretation raises questions when we are faced with how Cicero’s contemporaries, and he himself, practiced this term. As a result, the author of the article believes that the expression «res publica res populi est» is Cicero’s invention, who intentionally translated the Greek term πόλις by the Latin term res publica, which had a polysemantic character and vague definitions. His interpretation deliberately obscured the meaning of the slogan res publica in the political struggle (the «optimates» spoke only about res publica, while the «populares» used the construction res publica = res populi (plebi)), and on the other hand, such an interpretation was needed in order to with its help, imagine the ideal state system, which is at risk if the tyrant captures power. Actually, according to Cicero, the main characteristic feature of res publica is its opposition to the tyrant’s power, because the latter threatens the existence of the Senate and, accordingly, the prominent position of the «best» people.
