Split Sciences: The Legal Accountability of Patients With Dissociative Identity Disorder

The thriller “Split” by M. Night Shyamalan showed a glimpse into the multiple personalities of the antagonist in the film. While many elements were added for intense suspense, the existence of such a disorder was factual. Dissociative Identity Disorder is defined by the American Psychiatric Association as a “psychological illness with 2 or more distinct identities, each accompanied by changes in behavior, memory, and thinking” (American Psychiatric Association). In a legal setting, the actions of the patients with DID have numerous ramifications. This paper aims to illustrate how the accountability of DID patients during a crime should be assessed. To find out how DID patients could be held accountable, we analyzed the disorder by researching the transformations in the brain, identified its origins, and explored the consequences in a judicial milieu. After conducting this research, we identified the solution that could be seamlessly embedded into our current society and benefit the patient as well as the courts. Through the analysis of the psychological disorder with a social lens, we evaluated that the jury and the public should be made more aware of the disorder and the court should not automatically assume innocence based on just the Insanity Defense. This plan is the best course of action for patients and the court systems and also aims to adapt societal thought to be more aware of DID’s difficulties.

MULTIPLE PERSONALITY IN VENOM MOVIE SCRIPT WRITTEN BY JEFF PINKNER ET.AL.

This study constitutes an analysis of the Multiple Personalities in Venom Movie. This analysis describes the multiple personalities which occur in Eddie Brock as the main character of the movie. The data are obtained from the script of the movie which is analyzed in discussion of this study. The writers adopts the theory of multiple personality with a concept of disruption in memory and identity of a person. Multiple personality is also termed Dissociative Identity Disorder, disorder marked by the change of individual feeling concerning identity, memory or conscious. An individual gets difficulty in recollecting important events of himself in the past, forgetting his identity even forming his new identity. The whole study is conducted by descriptive qualitative design, classifying the obtained data in two sub topics. The first is about the main cahracter as a journalist. The second is about the main character as venom. As a journalist, he is weak, fearful and kind, but as venom, he is strong, brave and evil. After analyzing the data, it can be concluded that the main character, Eddie Brock. in Venom movie written by Jeff Pinkner Et. Al. has multiple personalities with two personalities.

Expression of personality through dressing

Clothing and fashion allow the multiplication of multiple personalities into one human being. The tendency to be "someone else", even if it is only with some detail in the clothes, is based on the possibility of transformation of the individual. That transformation is done by masking man, more precisely, the aspiration of one person to transform at least for a short period of time. The possibilities offered by fashion, that a person can be someone else with the help of clothes, cosmetics or make-up are really great. One of the most important functions of clothing and apparel is to achieve a sense of spiritual balance. In fact, with the help of clothing, certain shortcomings of a person are compensated and, in that way, a certain psychological balance is achieved. The extent to which following fashion reduces the feeling of inferiority is seen in the fact that in most countries fashion is most closely followed by young people and immigrants, because it seems to them that dressing according to the latest fashion equals them with others.

Pasolini’s Pauls

Because Pier Paolo Pasolini never completed his movie Saint Paul, any discussion of it must be speculative. However, insofar as the film appears in Pasolini’s screenplay outline and plan, it depicts Paul, in relation to the Pauline writings of the Bible, as a seriously fragmented person. This Paul struggles with multiple personalities that are continually fragmenting and at war with one another. In this way the film fuses together in a single cinematic narrative the many “Pauls” who appear in the Pauline letters and the Acts of the Apostles. The “remixed” quality that then appears in the screenplay contrasts sharply to Pasolini’s The Gospel According to St. Matthew. The resulting story echoes some of the writings of Italo Calvino, as well as Spike Jonze’s movie Adaptation.

This paper probes into a complex notion of the identity of a popular character in children’s literature, Curious George. Various authors and critics have tried to focus on different aspects of George’s personality. The scope of this paper is to explore the versatile and multifaceted features of George’s character, and to make an association between the character and its creators, H. A. Rey and Margaret Rey. The eventful life of the childless authors, who lived in a war-inflicted world, moving from one place to another, and seeking a final refuge in United States, is carefully analyzed and investigated in detail. The hilarious role played by George as a savior, to redeem them physically and psychologically, is adequately traced. Through the various Curious George series, the character of George is deeply examined and his relation to the ‘Man with the Yellow Hat’ has been interpreted from an oriental and postcolonial perspective. The enigma or riddle behind the true nature of George continually makes him one of the most beloved characters in the field of children’s literature. Observed and analyzed in the light of war-affected world, during which he was created, George provides the potential to survive in any conflict –riven situation internally or externally. His multiple personalities of an animal, child, prisoner, Orient and African provides various facets that keeps his identity in a flux.
