Breast cancer incidence has been rising steadily during the past few decades. It is the second leading cause of death in women. If it is diagnosed early, there is a good possibility of recovery. Mammography is proven to be an excellent screening technique for breast tumor diagnosis, but its detection and classification in mammograms remain a significant challenge. Previous studies’ major limitation is an increase in false positive ratio (FPR) and false negative ratio (FNR), as well as a drop in Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC) value. A model that can lower FPR and FNR while increasing MCC value is required. To overcome prior research limitations, a modified network of YOLOv5 is used in this study to detect and classify breast tumors. Our research is conducted using publicly available datasets Curated Breast Imaging Subset of DDSM (CBIS-DDSM). The first step is to perform preprocessing, which includes image enhancing techniques and the removal of pectoral muscles and labels. The dataset is then annotated, augmented, and divided into 60% for training, 30% for validation, and 10% for testing. The experiment is then performed using a batch size of 8, a learning rate of 0.01, a momentum of 0.843, and an epoch value of 300. To evaluate the performance of our proposed model, our proposed model is compared with YOLOv3 and faster RCNN. The results show that our proposed model performs better than YOLOv3 and faster RCNN with 96% mAP, 93.50% MCC value, 96.50% accuracy, 0.04 FPR, and 0.03 FNR value. The results show that our suggested model successfully identifies and classifies breast tumors while also overcoming previous research limitations by lowering the FPR and FNR and boosting the MCC value.

Background and aim: Olympus Corporation released the texture and color enhancement imaging (TXI) technology as a novel image-enhancing endoscopic technique. We investigated the effectiveness of TXI in the imaging of serrated colorectal polyps, including sessile serrated lesions (SSLs). Methods: Serrated colorectal polyps were observed using white light imaging (WLI), TXI, narrow-band imaging (NBI), and chromoendoscopy with and without magnification. Serrated polyps were histologically confirmed. TXI was compared with WLI, NBI, and chromoendoscopy for the visibility of the lesions without magnification and for that of the vessel and surface patterns with magnification. Three expert endoscopists evaluated the visibility scores, which were classified from 1 to 4. Results: Twenty-nine consecutive serrated polyps were evaluated. In the visibility score without magnification, TXI was significantly superior to WLI but inferior to chromoendoscopy in the imaging of serrated polyps and the sub-analysis of SSLs. In the visibility score for vessel patterns with magnification, TXI was significantly superior to WLI and chromoendoscopy in the imaging of serrated polyps and the sub-analysis of SSLs. In the visibility score for surface patterns with magnification, TXI was significantly superior to WLI but inferior to NBI in serrated polyps and in the sub-analysis of SSLs and hyperplastic polyps. Conclusions: TXI provided higher visibility than did WLI for serrated, colorectal polyps, including SSLs.

Abstract Background Emerging research has suggested that the COVID-19 pandemic has had some impact on substance use patterns. The aim of the study was to conduct a rapid survey to assess the impact of COVID-19 on performance and image enhancing drug (PIED) use and training, and any subsequent negative physical or mental health outcomes. Methods During 2020, a convenience sample of 60 PIED consumers (mean age = 26.69; 68.3% located outside Australia) completed a quantitative anonymous online survey exploring how the coronavirus pandemic impacted patterns of PIED use and associated exercise habits. The survey was administered via the Qualtrics platform and distributed online through PIED forums as well as through the investigators’ networks. Participants were asked about their PIED use and exercise habits prior to and during restricted movement ‘lockdowns’. Results During pre-COVID, the majority of the sample opted to ‘blast-cruise’ (an initial high dose, followed by a lower maintenance dose; 71.7%, n = 43). During lockdown, 45% (n = 27) reported a change in PIED use as a result of the restrictions. In light of health concerns during COVID-19, a majority of men (60%, n = 36) did not take any extra precautions relating to their PIED use. A subgroup of men ceased using PIEDs completely (16.7%, n = 10) with the majority (80%, n = 8) of that subgroup following post-cycle therapy (PCT) of some kind. Only a small proportion of the sample reported negative mental health issues as a result of PCT access issues. Conclusions This study contributes to the emerging literature of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on substance use, specifically PIED use among men. The results suggest that the pandemic did influence the choice of PIEDs that participants consumed, although there was little disruption to patterns of exercise, an important aspect of PIED use. Of the men who did cease use completely, the majority reported little issue with PCT access; those who reported difficulty accessing PCT compounds indicated experience some mental health concerns related to ceasing their PIED use. Clinicians and those who come into contact with this group should be alert for any negative physical or mental health concerns resulting from disrupted or ceased PIED use.

Cel ich używania nie wiąże się przy tym z chęcią osiągnięcia określonego wyniku sportowego. Dotyczy bowiem przede wszystkim poprawy wyglądu zewnętrznego. Procederowi temu towarzyszy zainteresowanie zorganizowanej przestępczości w zakresie produkcji i dystrybucji takich środków. Taki jego charakter wymusza potrzebę zdecydowanej reakcji karnej oraz zaangażowania odpowiednio przeszkolonych służb i agend państwowych.

Image-enhanced endoscopy is useful for diagnosing and identifying lesions in the gastrointestinal tract. Recently, image-enhanced endoscopy has become a breakthrough technology that has attracted significant attention. This image enhancing technology is available for capsule endoscopy, which is an effective tool for small intestinal lesions and has been applied in flexible spectral color enhancement technology and in contrast capsule like narrow-band imaging. In this field, most researchers focus on improving the visibility and detection of small intestinal lesions. This review summarizes previous studies on image-enhanced capsule endoscopy and aims to evaluate the efficacy of this technology.

Abstract Purpose Traditional undergraduate radiographer training mixes academic lectures and clinical practice. Our goal is to bridge the current disconnection between theory and practice in a safe environment, avoiding the risk of radiation for both practitioners and patients. To this end, this research proposes a new software to teach diagnostic radiography using real-time interactive X-ray simulation and patient positioning. Methods The proposed medical simulator is composed of three main modules. A fast and accurate character animation technique is in charge of simulating the patient positioning phase and adapts their internal anatomy accordingly. gVirtualXRay is an open-source X-ray simulation library and generates the corresponding radiographs in real time. Finally, the courseware allows going through all the diagnostic radiology steps from the patient positioning and the machine configuration to the final image enhancing. Results A face and content validation study has been conducted; 18 radiology professionals were recruited to evaluate our software using a questionnaire. The results show that our tool is realistic in many ways (72% of the participants agreed that the simulations are visually realistic), useful (67%) and suitable (78%) for teaching X-ray radiography. Conclusions The proposed tool allows simulating the most relevant steps of the projectional radiography procedure. The virtual patient posing system and X-ray simulation module execute at interactive rates. These features enable the lectures to show their students the results of good and bad practices in a classroom environment, avoiding radiation risk.

AbstractAeromagnetic and vertical electrical sounding around Ijano, southwestern Nigeria, was investigated for groundwater potential. Aeromagnetic dataset and vertical electrical sounding were acquired and used to investigate the study area. Oasis Montaj, Microsoft Excel and Arc GIS were used to present the results in maps, images and profiles. In order to map out the geological structures of the study area, magnetic image enhancing filters applied to the total magnetic intensity using Geosoft (Oasis Montaj) are reduction to equator, vertical derivative, total horizontal derivative and upward continuation. These filters helped define the lithological boundaries, geological structures, faults, folds and contacts. The lineament of aeromagnetic map was generated from derived field intensity gradients and solutions of Euler deconvolution carried out on the aeromagnetic data using structural index of 0.5 and 1. The processed image shows the lineaments trends majorly towards NE–SW directions. From these combined results of the study area, consistent aeromagnetic lineament map was generated showing the probable positions and trends of the suspected fractured/faulted zone as well as other basement structures. Hydro-lineament density maps based on lineament were produced from the generalized structure trends in the area. The result from the depth sounding data interpretation indicates three curve types which are H, HA and KH, where curve type H has the highest occurrence. The results from the vertical electrical sounding data revealed that the areas with the highest hydro-lineament density are good for groundwater prospect and development. The study has led to the delineation of areas where groundwater occurrences are most promising for sustainable supply, suggesting that an area with high concentrations of lineament density has a high tendency for groundwater prospecting. The results from the study show that the aeromagnetic technique is capable of extracting lineament trends in an inaccessible tropical forest.

Background: There is growing concern about the self-administration of supplements, which can often be indiscriminate, counterproductive to health, and serve as a gateway to more harmful drugs and substances. Research suggests that high uptake of performance- and image-enhancing drugs (PIEDs) is correlated with body image to accentuate masculinity. This study provides insights into limiting unhealthy supplement usage. This research identifies reasons for casual unhealthy supplement use among young adult Australians through the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) lens, providing practitioners with insights into developing interventions to deter their use. Method: Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with ten participants aged between 18 and 40, using a convenience sample. Leximancer analysis was used to assess word co-occurrence and map to TPB constructs. Results: Leximancer identified positive attitudes, social norms, and perceived behavioral control towards supplement usage. Key themes that influenced supplement use were weight loss, body image, nutrition, training, education, challenges, need, and time. Furthermore, using TPB constructs, affective and instrumental attitudes and prevailing norms were observed when investigating what would cause an individual to use supplements in an unhealthy manner. Conclusion: Through understanding the motivations of indiscriminate supplement use across the Australian population, the study has uncovered several social factors that may reduce or limit the practice of unsafe supplement usage.
