The specificities of paddle tennis as a racket sport may influence the lesion pattern. The aim of this study is to characterize the profile of musculoskeletal lesion in Paddle players and analyze its impact on absenteeism and medical treatment needs. The results point to the elbow being the most frequent lesion location. The frequency of epicondylalgia is similar to the one reported in recreational tennis players, but the formal diagnosis of lateral elbow tendinopathy is seldom established. Absenteeism due to sport related injury is significant.

Citizen Paddle Project: prividing an experience with racket sport to students from physical education course and elementary public school.BACKGROUND: Paddle is sport, which use a racket to play. This physical entertainment spread in South America, mainly in Argentina and Uruguay, in the last decade of 1980. Even though it is a contemporaneous sport in their culture, it does not be included in the academic curriculum of the physical education course.OBJECTIVE: Contextualizing this situation and overcoming the lack in the academy program of paddle education, this work had the aim to notify the impact of Citizen Paddle Project experience during physical education classes on Federal University of Pampa. This project provided not only the knowledge and familiarity with paddle in the academic environment, but also the opportunity of students from the elementary public education of Uruguaiana city to practice this sport.METHODS: The courts were provided by the Engenho Paddle Sport Center twice a week during July to December of 2019. The project consisted in the weekly meeting with students of the Physical Education course at the University; and separately, with students of elementary public school. The project involved students from Physical Education course (10), and 5th grade of elementary school (19); administrative technicians (2); and professors (2). RESULTS: It was possible to observe the interest and motivation of students during the paddle project. Through this experience, the academic students could reflect on the new systematization and methodologies that could facilitate the application of paddle education in their professional area. In addition, the elementary school students had the opportunity to experience this modality, which is still unexplored in their physical education classes.CONCLUSION: Citizen Paddle Project impacted greatly both academic and elementary students. It created an environment with new possibilities in the professional qualification of physical educator. Moreover, it was improved the intellectual and motor skills of students by the development of paddle abilities.Citizen Paddle Project: prividing an experience with racket sport to students from physical education course and elementary public school

The purpose of this study was to compare the combined effects of creatine monohydrate (Cr) and beta-alanine (BA) with their isolated use on performance and physiological parameters during repeated sprint sequences (RSS). Forty-four male (n=34) and female (n=10) amateur team- and racket sport players (25.1±3.1 years; 175.2±9.8 cm; 76.0±10.3 kg; 15.2±6.8% body fat) performed ten repetitions of 6-s sprints with departure every 30 s, before and after a 28-day supplementation period with either Cr (n=11, 5 g‧day-1), BA (n=10, 6 g‧day-1), combined Cr and BA (n=12, 5 g‧day-1 of Cr plus 6g‧day-1 of BA) or placebo (11 g‧day-1 of rice flour). Peak (PP) and mean power (MP), performance decrement (%Dec), heart rate (HR), blood lactate concentration (LA) and perceived exertion (RPE) were measured. Analyses of variance (ANOVA) were used to determine the effects of groups (Cr, BA, CrBA, P), sprint number (1 to 10), and time (pre- vs. post-supplementation) on all variables. A significant increase in PP was shown in the post- compared to the pre-supplementation in Cr (+5.2%) and BA (+5.2%) groups only (p<.05), and significant decreases in MP in all groups (3.7% to 6.4%, p<.05), except BA. %Dec was significantly decreased post-supplementation in the Cr group only (17.4%, p<.05). No effects were shown on HR, RPE and LA (p<.05). These results show no additional benefits of the combination of Cr and BA on RSS performance and suggest that longer sprint or total exercise duration might be necessary to observe the benefits of the combined supplementation.

Padel is widely practiced racket sport, although there is scanty data comparing competitive levels and differences between the sexes. Physical fitness of padel players was compared, according to sex and level. The research involved 35 people (age = 29.6 ± 2.9 years, practice = 6.8 ± 4.9 years), 13 of the first, 15 of the second and 7 of the third category. Aerobic power (PAM) with Yo-YoIR1, agility with handball agility specific test (HAST), muscular power with vertical jump and 3kg medicineball throw, and handgrip endurance strength (HES) with dynamometer were measured. The variables PAM, HAST, vertical jump, throttle and FIPM were significantly different between genders. In addition, in the male category, players in the upper category had lower heart rate scores after Yo-YoIR1 as well as distance traveled, throttle and FIPM maximum, while in females the superior category was better in the variables distance traveled in Yo-YoIR1 and vertical jump. On the other hand, in both sexes, players of superior categories presented greater time of practice. Amateur padel players with a higher competitive level do not present higher physical fitness, but present longer practice time.

Abstract. This research study is centered on the paddle, a split-court racket sport and played 2x2. As for the aim of study, this has been to determine the heart rate responses in the female amateur paddle, as well as the training zones according to the physiological thresholds during the competition. The participants were N = 9 players, 32.8 ± 12.3 years, and with a semi-professional and amateur level of play. We recorded the heart rate (HR) through receptors for the same, in a total of 16 matches. For this, we have taken into account the variables of maximum FC and mean FC of each set and of each 5 games played. The mean values obtained were 179±9.4 ppm from the maximum HR, and 150±8.6 ppm from the average HR of the match. On the other hand, we have analyzed the HR according to the training zones, obtaining that the greater time of the party the players are between 80-90% of the theoretica maximum heart rate.
