Abstract Kashmir Himalaya being a rugged and tectonically active zone has complex, unstable geology along with steep slopes, creating a favorable environment for landslide hazards, especially along the National Highway (NH-44) that connects the Vale of Kashmir with the rest of India. The historical landslide database for the whole country has not yet been developed and the data provided by various government organizations are often very limited because most of the time local and small-scale landslide events do not get recorded, thus, leading to misinterpretations. The present study focuses on retrieving the information on landslide events and their impacts to develop a comprehensive database for the period from 1990 to 2020 in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). A hotspot analysis tool (Getis-ord-Gi* algorithm) was used to understand the spatial distribution and concentration of the events throughout the region. The annual and seasonal analysis of the 739 landslide events reported in the valley for the selected period suggests an increasing trend causing 1000 fatalities and 267 injuries. The findings show that out of 20 districts, 16 are relatively more exposed to landslides and the socio-impact induced by landslides was found more along the NH-44 with 303 landslide occurrences reported in 260 days in the past three decades having a high intensity of damage and loss. The results of this study are expected to be of potential use for developing a Landslide Early Warning System (LEWS) and for mitigating the impacts of landslides in the Kashmir Himalaya.

Himalaya is youngest tectonic Active Mountain and northern boundary of India. Various infrastructure projects are under develop in Himalayan region for the better connectivity of peoples and national security of border line.  Widening of 295 km National Highway-44 in Jammu and Kashmir is an important developmental project. The highway passes through Outer Himalayan and Higher Himalayan sequences of rocks and is frequently affected by landslides at various places. The paper deals with 43 km Udhampur-Chenani and Nashri- Ramban section of the highway within sedimentary and metamorphic rock sequence. The area is prone to landslides on account of fragile geological, topographic and hydrological conditions. The study area has high rainfall intensity and numerous old landslides zones. During the project feasibility stage, project authority has identified the landslide prone area and suggested precautionary measures but during the construction work various unpredicted landslide and ground sinking events happened which given trouble in project construction cost and project completion time. In this paper, the challenges faced due to landslide and ground failure as failure of old slide adjutant to road construction, agriculture and residential ground failure at higher altitude due to road construction, collapse of high tension towers in cut slopes; its impact on construction activities; are discussed with  mitigation measures for unidentified landslide related challenges.

East Barito is one district that has a variety of natural resources such as agriculture and mining, Sikui KM of National Highway 34 is one of the roads that used to be accessed by one party mobilization of existing mines in Central Kalimantan. But on the other hand, the national road Sikui KM 34 is also used for connecting roads between provinces or cities. Based on the above actual national roads not intended for large-laden vehicles.Path planning is aimed to obtain a rigid pavement thickness based on the Pavement Design Manual Nomor 02/M/BM/2017 which controlled by “Pedoman Perencanaan Perkerasan Jalan Beton Semen Pd T-14-2003” and calculating the budget plan on the intersection of a road segment of Sikui KM 34 national road, East Barito disctrict. On the planning of rigid pavement’s thickness by using “Manual Desain Perkerasan Jalan Nomor 02/M/BM/2017” it is found that the concrete plate layer = 28,5 cm; LMC base layer = 10 cm; drainage layer = 15 cm and by using  “Pedoman Perencanaan Perkerasan Jalan Beton Semen Pd T-14-2003” also found that the concrete plate layer = 21 cm; base layer = 15 cm. After that, on the existing condition obtained concrete plate layer = 30 cm; K-125 concrete layer = 10 cm. Then, it is found that the efficient pavement’s thickness which taken by using “Pedoman Perencanaan Perkerasan Jalan Beton Semen Pd T-14-2003” is more efficient rather than the existing condition. Moreover, this thesis also discusses the budget plan on the intersection of a road segment of Sikui Km. 34, East Barito district.

This investigation was aimed to explore the biodiversity of upper great Himalayas range with special reference to the flora and its conservation. The natural landscape and high altitude meadows (Bugyal) enhanced the beauty of Uttarakhand. Bukki village and Bukki top one of the gorgeous region locate in Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand state, fall on the opposite side of the national highway NH-108 and connect the Gangotri Glacier via Harsil. The present article is the description of the flora of the Bukki region and, we tried to mainly focus on different fungus species and disease on trees, observed during the trek. Some important fungus species observed are Daldinia concentric, Trichaptum biforme, Fomes fomentarius and Daedalea quercina. We also describe each fungus attributes and habitat distribution description.
