Objective: This study aimed to analyze the progression and trends of multimorbidity in the elderly in China and internationally from a bibliometric perspective, and compare their differences on hotspots and research fronts. Methods: Publications between January 2001 and August 2021 were retrieved from WOS and CNKI databases. Endnote 20 and VOSviewer 1.6.8 were used to summarize bibliometric features, including publication years, journals, and keywords, and the co-occurrence map of countries, institutions, and keywords was drawn. Results: 3857 research papers in English and 664 research papers in Chinese were included in this study. The development trends of multimorbidity in the elderly are fully synchronized in China and other countries. They were divided into germination period, development period, and prosperity period. Research literature in English was found to be mainly focused on public health, and the IF of the literature is high; In China, however, most research papers are in general medicine and geriatrics with fewer core journals. Co-occurrence analysis based on countries and institutions showed that the most productive areas were the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, while the Chinese researchers have made little contribution. The clustering analysis of high-frequency keywords in China and around the globe shows that the hotspots have shifted from individual multimorbidity to group multimorbidity management. Sorting out the top 10 highly cited articles and highly cited authors, Barnett, K’s article published in Lancet in 2012 is regarded as a milestone in the field. Conclusion: Multimorbidity in the elderly leads to more attention in the world. Although China lags behind global research the research fronts from disease-centered to patient-centered, and individual management to population management is consistent.

With the aim of identifying approximation points and gaps to be filled in efforts to relate research on smart and sustainable cities, this study made use of bibliometrics and scientometrics to materialize information retrieved in searches conducted in academic databases. Starting from the literature in both fields, it was sought to visualize from the quantitative data, the recent state of researches that have this objective, where it was analyzed that: (i) research that relates these fields is still incipient, and is on the rise; and (ii) there is still a technocratic prevalence and a detachment regarding theoretical advances. Both the quantitative results and the literature support these assertions, and in conjunction with the keyword clouds, one can better visualize viable opportunities on different research fronts.

Autonomous driving has become an increasingly relevant issue for policymakers, the industry, service providers, infrastructure companies, and science. This study shows how bibliometrics can be used to identify the major technological aspects of an emerging research field such as autonomous driving. We examine the most influential publications and identify research fronts of scientific activities until 2017 based on a bibliometric literature analysis. Using the science mapping approach, publications in the research field of autonomous driving were retrieved from Web of Science and then structured using the bibliometric software BibTechMon by the AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology). At the time of our analysis, we identified four research fronts in the field of autonomous driving: (I) Autonomous Vehicles and Infrastructure, (II) Driver Assistance Systems, (III) Autonomous Mobile Robots, and (IV) IntraFace, i.e., automated facial image analysis. Researchers were working extensively on technologies that support the navigation and collection of data. Our analysis indicates that research was moving towards autonomous navigation and infrastructure in the urban environment. A noticeable number of publications focused on technologies for environment detection in automated vehicles. Still, research pointed at the technological challenges to make automated driving safe.

Risk perception is important in organizational and societal governance contexts. This article presents a high-level analysis of risk perception research using Web of Science core collection databases, scientometrics methods and visualization tools. The focus is on trends in outputs, geographical and temporal trends, and patterns in the associated scientific categories. Thematic clusters and temporal dynamics of focus topics are identified using keyword analysis. A co-citation analysis is performed to identify the evolution of research fronts and key documents. The results indicate that research output is growing fast, with most contributions originating from western countries. The domain is highly interdisciplinary, rooted in psychology and social sciences, but branching into domains related to environmental sciences, medicine, and engineering. Significant research themes focus on perceptions related to health, with a focus on cancer, human immunodeficiency virus, and epidemiology, natural hazards and major disasters, traffic accidents, technological and industrial risks, and customer trust. Risk perception research originated from consumer choice decisions, with subsequent research fronts focusing on understanding the risk perception concept, and on developing taxonomies and measurement methods. Applied research fronts focus on environmental hazards, traffic accidents, breast cancer and, more recently, e-commerce transactions and flood risk. Based on the results, various avenues for future research are described.

Abstract The courtroom, as the most dramatic setting of legal language, is a rich linguistic domain for research; therefore, a science mapping study of the state of the art of this emerging field is of necessity. By CiteSpace V, the present study provides a comprehensive and up-to-date systematic review of the research on courtroom discourse, as presented by 379 article publications and their 10,538 references in the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection from 1979 to 2021. According to statistics on publications by year, it appears that courtroom discourse research has experienced a period of silence (1979–1992), followed by an emergent period (1993–2005), before entering a period of considerable growth since 2006. Weak cooperative networks, extensive information base, multiple research fronts, and dynamic hotspots of courtroom discourse research have been discovered. Courtroom discourse research focuses on three core topics: courtroom interpreting, the interaction between law, language, power, and ideology, and the investigation of courtroom trial structures. Linguistic communication issues are prominent in courtroom discourse. As far as courtroom subjects are concerned, there is an audience-oriented turn in the latest research front of courtroom discourse. The research hotspots have shifted from language ontology during the emergent period to consolidating and developing the theoretical foundations of courtroom discourse during the rapid development period. According to keyword clustering, stance studies and miscommunication research are significant research hotspots of courtroom discourse.

The identification of research fronts and the setting of priorities is a significant challenge in science and policy. The Global Research Front cluster of scientific articles is united by co-citing in other papers at a particular time. SciVal (online platform for monitoring and analyzing international research using visualization tools and modern citation metrics, economic and social efficiency) has three subject areas: Clinical Medicine, health management, and public health. By the total number of articles and the share of the direction in the research area of InCites Citation Topics, determine the global research fronts: neuroscanning, immunology, diet, orthopaedics and psychiatry. Today, the world is witnessing large-scale scientific programmes aimed at understanding human beings and their health. Because of the growing burden of significant brain diseases worldwide, scientists need to find effective means to apply modern biotechnology fully and address current clinical medicine issues. The threats of infectious diseases and the development of new vaccines have reinforced the pronounced response of the Global Immunology Observatory and related products in the field of system immunology. The scientific communities have embarked on a comprehensive consultation that should lead to a global strategy on diet and diet, physical activity, and reducing musculoskeletal and musculoskeletal diseases. Orthopaedic surgeons are developing new procedures and technologies to optimize patient care based on a science-based approach. The scale of mental health problems is at the heart of the global health and development plan of the World Bank, WHO and other national and international organizations, highlighting the scale of these challenges and successes that can be achieved if we work together to solve them.

The aim of the study is to explore the intellectual structure of the field and fronts in research on energy efficiency in the context of cloud computing and thus to contribute to science mapping of the research field. The research process was driven by the following study questions: (1) what are the most influential publications in the research field? and (2) what are the research fronts in the research field? The method of direct citation analysis was employed in the research process. Data for analysis were obtained from the Scopus database and analyzed with the use of VOSviewer science mapping software. In response to the first question, we identified the most influential publications in the research field and analyzed their types (i.e., whether they are original research papers or rather the “context” papers e.g., survey or review papers, framework papers, challenges papers, and study papers). Moreover, a comparison analysis between the types of papers among the most cited “classical” publications and “emerging stars” was conducted. In response to the second research question, we identified five research fronts concentrated around the issues of: virtual machine management (“VM”); task-focus, concerning data replication, task consolidation, and task scheduling (“task”); energy efficiency (“energy”); modelling and optimization (“model”); and energy efficiency in the networking context (“network”).
