Cincau (Cyclea barbata) is a plant whose leaves can be squeezed thick for the contents of a drink. This plant is a species of the cyclea genus. Green grass jelly leaves are found in various places in Indonesia, from traditional markets to modern shopping centers. This plant is known as camcao (Javanese), camcauh (Sundanese), juju, kepleng, krotok, tarawalu, tahulu (Malay). There are several types of grass jelly known today, namely green grass jelly, black grass jelly, and oil grass jelly. Indonesian people are fond of green grass jelly because the physical nature of green grass jelly leaves (Cyclea barbata) is thin and limp so that it is easier to form into gelatin or into gelatin. So far, research that examines quality improvement in the processing process has not been given much attention, because many think that the process currently carried out meets the standards. For this reason, through this research, efforts were made to improve the quality of Cyclea barbata leaves through the initial stages of the Cyclea barbata leaf processing process. The stalks and leaves of the henna must be separated from the beginning of the processing process before being processed further, so that the pure processed material comes from Cyclea barbata leaves which produce the best Cyclea barbata leaf powder, so that it is expected to produce quality Cyclea barbata leaf products. For that we need a separator for the leaves and stems of the Cyclea barbata plant. This research is needed to produce a design for separating the stem and leaves of the Cyclea barbata plant. The design of this tool needs to refer to the physical characteristics of the leaves and stems of the Cyclea barbata plant, so that power requirements are reduced and operational costs decrease.

Turkey holds a 95% market share of global sweet bay (Laurus nobilis L.) leaf trade, and it has 25 leaf processing and manufacturing facilities with different capacities. In this study, the usability of waste sweet bay wood (BW) that was removed from bay leaf processing plants was studied. For this purpose, three-layer particleboards were produced by mixing industrial chips (IC) and waste sweet bay wood chips (BWC) at a mixture rate of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. For panel production, urea formaldehyde adhesive (UF) was used in 10% of the surface layers and in 8% of the middle layer based on dry chip weight. Some mechanical properties, such as bending strength (BS), modulus of elasticity in bending (MOE), internal bond strength (IB) of the test panels, thickness swelling (TS), and water absorption (WA) amounts, were determined. The results showed that all panel groups except group C (25% BWC + 75% IC) met the general purpose panel class (P1) requirements for use in dry conditions according to TS EN 312 (2012). In addition, group A panels (100% BWC) met the requirements of P2 class for the MOE and BS, and group E panels (75% BWC + 25% IC) met the P3 standards. The results showed that BWC could be used to produce particleboard for general purposes, including furniture.

The Hipgampra farmer group has Gambir farming land. The problems that occur in this farmer group have not had a press tool, usually, this farmer group rents gambir leaf processing equipment privately and must pay rent wages which are worth one-third of the proceeds of the sale. Through this service activity, the team wanted to overcome the problem by giving a press tool to process gambir leaves. The purpose of the implementation of this service activity is to provide a solution to the problems faced by gambier women in the process of pressing gambier leaves. The method of applying science and technology carried out in this activity is to provide introductory theories, demonstrations, and practices. The introductory theory is applicable, namely the introduction of tools, how to use them, their functions and application applications in the field. The realization of service to the community of Kenagarian Lampanjang Sutera Pesisir Selatan Subdistrict was held on October 6, 2018. The equipment that was handed over to the community of Kenagarian Lampanjang Subdistrict, Sutera in the form of a unit of a Gambir leaf impact system. Application of appropriate technology that is applied to gambir leaf processing must be adjusted to the productivity of harvested gambier leaves. The number of gambir leaves that can be harvested by gambier farmers will adjust the capacity of the gambir leaf press to be processed. The tool that is devoted to the community has a forging foundation that functions as a place for gambir leaves to be pressed and has a jack stand that will press the gambir leaves to the foundation so that the sap of gambier will come out.
