This document estimated the behavior of the CO2 flux in the San Andrés Islas maritime for the first half of 2019. This behavior was established based on the thermodynamic relationship between the sea surface temperature, the partial pressures of CO2 in the atmosphere and the water column, this from data derived from remote sensors. The satellite data were derived from the MODIS aqua sensors and the MERRA model for sea surface temperature and wind speed respectively. Satellite images were obtained from NASA databases, subsequently processed and specialized in ArcGis 10.1. Finally, the behavior of the CO2 flux is shown for the San Andrés Islas maritime, finding that it does not have a tendency to capture CO2, so acidification processes are discarded for the selected study period.

Polymorphism of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) is of significance in the pharmaceutical industry because it can affect the quality, efficacy and safety of the final drug product. In this regard, polymorphic behavior of cocrystals is no exception because it can influence the development of cocrystals as potential drug formulations. The current contribution aims to introduce two novel polymorphs [forms (III) and (IV)] of agomelatine–hydroquinone (AGO-HYQ) cocrystal and to describe the thermodynamic relationship between the cocrystal polymorphs. All polymorphs were characterized using powder X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, hot-stage microscopy and solubility measurements. In addition, the crystal structure of form (II), which has been previously solved from powder diffraction data [Prohens et al. (2016), Cryst. Growth Des. 16, 1063–1070] and form (III) were determined from the single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. Thermal analysis revealed that AGO-HYQ cocrystal form (III) exhibits a higher melting point and a lower heat of fusion than those of form (II). According to the heat of fusion rule, the polymorphs are enantiotropically related, with form (III) being stable at higher temperatures. Our results also show that the novel form (IV) is the most stable form at ambient conditions and it transforms into form (II) on heating, and therefore, the two polymorphs are enantiotropically related. Furthermore, solubility and van't Hoff plot results suggest that the transition points are approximately 339 K for the pair form (IV)–(II) and 352 K for the pair form (II)–(III).

Statistical thermodynamics has a universal appeal that extends beyond molecular systems, and yet, as its tools are being transplanted to fields outside physics, the fundamental question, what is thermodynamics, has remained unanswered. We answer this question here. Generalized statistical thermodynamics is a variational calculus of probability distributions. It is independent of physical hypotheses but provides the means to incorporate our knowledge, assumptions and physical models about a stochastic processes that gives rise to the probability in question. We derive the familiar calculus of thermodynamics via a probabilistic argument that makes no reference to physics. At the heart of the theory is a space of distributions and a special functional that assigns probabilities to this space. The maximization of this functional generates the mathematical network of thermodynamic relationship. We obtain statistical mechanics as a special case and make contact with Information Theory and Bayesian inference.

In this paper, by analyzing the thermodynamic properties of charged AdS black hole and asymptotically flat space-time charged black hole in the vicinity of the critical point, we establish the correspondence between the thermodynamic parameters of asymptotically flat space-time and nonasymptotically flat space-time, based on the equality of black hole horizon area in the two different types of space-time. The relationship between the cavity radius (which is introduced in the study of asymptotically flat space-time charged black holes) and the cosmological constant (which is introduced in the study of nonasymptotically flat space-time) is determined. The establishment of the correspondence between the thermodynamics parameters in two different types of space-time is beneficial to the mutual promotion of different time-space black hole research, which is helpful to understand the thermodynamics and quantum properties of black hole in space-time.
