For a graph [Formula: see text], a double Roman dominating function (DRDF) is a function [Formula: see text] having the property that if [Formula: see text] for some vertex [Formula: see text], then [Formula: see text] has at least two neighbors assigned [Formula: see text] under [Formula: see text] or one neighbor [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text], and if [Formula: see text] then [Formula: see text] has at least one neighbor [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text]. The weight of a DRDF [Formula: see text] is the sum [Formula: see text]. The minimum weight of a DRDF on a graph [Formula: see text] is the double Roman domination number of [Formula: see text] and is denoted by [Formula: see text]. The double Roman bondage number of [Formula: see text], denoted by [Formula: see text], is the minimum cardinality among all edge subsets [Formula: see text] such that [Formula: see text]. In this paper, we study the double Roman bondage number in graphs. We determine the double Roman bondage number in several families of graphs, and present several bounds for the double Roman bondage number. We also study the complexity issue of the double Roman bondage number and prove that the decision problem for the double Roman bondage number is NP-hard even when restricted to bipartite graphs.

The quaternionic Grassmannian H Gr ⁡ ( r , n ) \operatorname {H Gr}(r,n) is the affine open subscheme of the usual Grassmannian parametrizing those 2 r 2r -dimensional subspaces of a 2 n 2n -dimensional symplectic vector space on which the symplectic form is nondegenerate. In particular, we have HP n = H Gr ⁡ ( 1 , n + 1 ) \operatorname {HP}^n = \operatorname {H Gr}(1,n+1) . For a symplectically oriented cohomology theory A A , including oriented theories but also the Hermitian K \operatorname {K} -theory, Witt groups, and algebraic symplectic cobordism, we have A ( HP n ) = A ( pt ) [ p ] / ( p n + 1 ) A(\operatorname {HP}^n) = A(\operatorname {pt})[p]/(p^{n+1}) . Borel classes for symplectic bundles are introduced in the paper. They satisfy the splitting principle and the Cartan sum formula, and they are used to calculate the cohomology of quaternionic Grassmannians. In a symplectically oriented theory the Thom classes of rank 2 2 symplectic bundles determine Thom and Borel classes for all symplectic bundles, and the symplectic Thom classes can be recovered from the Borel classes. The cell structure of the H Gr ⁡ ( r , n ) \operatorname {H Gr}(r,n) exists in cohomology, but it is difficult to see more than part of it geometrically. An exception is HP n \operatorname {HP}^n where the cell of codimension  2 i 2i is a quasi-affine quotient of A 4 n − 2 i + 1 \mathbb {A}^{4n-2i+1} by a nonlinear action of G a \mathbb {G}_a .

Let [Formula: see text] be an associative unital ring and not necessarily commutative. We analyze conditions under which every [Formula: see text] matrix [Formula: see text] over [Formula: see text] is expressible as a sum [Formula: see text] of (commuting) idempotent matrices [Formula: see text] and a nilpotent matrix [Formula: see text].

Let [Formula: see text] be an integer, and let [Formula: see text] denote a Dirichlet character modulo [Formula: see text]. For any real number [Formula: see text], we define the generalized Dirichlet [Formula: see text]-function as [Formula: see text] where [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] both real. It can be extended to all [Formula: see text] using analytic continuation. For any integer [Formula: see text], the famous Gauss sum [Formula: see text] is defined as [Formula: see text] where [Formula: see text]. This paper uses analytic methods to study the mean value properties of the generalized Dirichlet [Formula: see text]-functions with the weight of the Gauss sums, and a sharp asymptotic formula is obtained.

In this paper, closed forms of the sum formulas ∑n k=0 xkWmk 2 +j for generalized Fibonacci numbers are presented. As special cases, we give sum formulas of Fibonacci, Lucas, Pell, Pell-Lucas, Jacobsthal, Jacobsthal-Lucas numbers. We present the proofs to indicate how these formulas, in general, were discovered. Of course, all the listed formulas may be proved by induction, but that method of proof gives no clue about their discovery.

Despite being heavily used in the training of deep neural networks (DNNs), multipliers are resource-intensive and insufficient in many different scenarios. Previous discoveries have revealed the superiority when activation functions, such as the sigmoid, are calculated by shift-and-add operations, although they fail to remove multiplications in training altogether. In this paper, we propose an innovative approach that can convert all multiplications in the forward and backward inferences of DNNs into shift-and-add operations. Because the model parameters and backpropagated errors of a large DNN model are typically clustered around zero, these values can be approximated by their sine values. Multiplications between the weights and error signals are transferred to multiplications of their sine values, which are replaceable with simpler operations with the help of the product to sum formula. In addition, a rectified sine activation function is utilized for further converting layer inputs into sine values. In this way, the original multiplication-intensive operations can be computed through simple add-and-shift operations. This trigonometric approximation method provides an efficient training and inference alternative for devices with insufficient hardware multipliers. Experimental results demonstrate that this method is able to obtain a performance close to that of classical training algorithms. The approach we propose sheds new light on future hardware customization research for machine learning.

This paper examines the Fibonacci quaternion sequence with quadruple-produce components, and demonstrates a golden-like ratio and some identities for this sequence. Its generating and exponential generating functions are given. Along with these, its series and binomial sum formula are established.

For the handlebody [Formula: see text] of genus [Formula: see text], Przytycki studied the (Kauffman bracket) skein module [Formula: see text] of the connected sum [Formula: see text] at [Formula: see text]. One of his results is that, in the case when [Formula: see text] is invertible for any [Formula: see text], a homomorphism [Formula: see text] is an isomorphism, which is induced by a natural way. In this paper, in the case when [Formula: see text], the ground ring is [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] is a [Formula: see text]-th root of unity ([Formula: see text]), we show that [Formula: see text] is not injective.
